The most reliable WARDOGS setup is not a single magic sensitivity. On mouse and keyboard, disable mouse acceleration, calibrate sensitivity with a repeatable 180-degree movement test, start with ADS multiplier 1, and use a high field of view (FOV). On controller, a practical starting point is 2.5 horizontal sensitivity, 1.8 vertical sensitivity and a 0.35 ADS multiplier, with deadzones increased only enough to stop stick drift. For helicopters, enable rotary vehicle mouse control, begin around 30–50% helicopter sensitivity and keep stability assist on while learning. Hold Shift while aiming to reduce sway, and use the vendor’s Re-buy Loadout option when you need to restore a previous kit.
What to change first
Change settings in an order that makes cause and effect easy to identify. Start with input consistency, then tune aim speed, then adjust movement and vehicle controls. Changing several sensitivities at once makes it difficult to tell whether a miss came from your settings, your technique or the situation.
- Choose your input profile. Use the mouse-and-keyboard or controller section below; do not mix values from the two devices.
- Remove unwanted acceleration. Mouse players should disable mouse acceleration. Controller players should use a known response curve and acceleration profile before changing deadzones.
- Run a repeatable test. Use the same starting point, target and movement distance each time. A 180-degree turn is more useful than copying another player’s number.
- Change one value. Keep a short note of the old and new setting, then test in the same environment.
- Save a repeatable kit. Until the full loadout system is available, use Re-buy Loadout at the vendor to recover a previous purchase.
Mouse-and-keyboard settings
Disable mouse acceleration
Turn mouse acceleration off in the game’s mouse settings, and check that your operating-system pointer settings are not adding acceleration. With acceleration disabled, the same physical swipe produces the same in-game rotation regardless of how quickly you move the mouse. That consistency matters for flicks, recoil corrections and turning while moving.
Recommended Free Tools
Acceleration can feel faster during a large, quick turn, but it makes muscle memory less dependable. If you are changing from an accelerated setup, expect a short adjustment period rather than judging the setting after one match.

Calibrate sensitivity with a 180-degree test
A cited WARDOGS settings guide uses 0.8 at 800 DPI as a common starting point, not a universal answer. Your desk space, mouse grip, preferred weapons and ability to use your whole arm all affect the right value.
- Set a comfortable, repeatable mouse DPI. Record it so future tests use the same value.
- Stand in a safe area facing a fixed reference, such as a wall edge or map object.
- Place the mouse at a marked starting position.
- Move the mouse in one controlled swipe and check whether you turn approximately 180 degrees.
- If you stop short, raise in-game sensitivity slightly; if you pass the target, lower it.
- Repeat the test several times in both directions. Keep the value that gives similar results without forcing your wrist or running out of pad space.
This method produces a personal baseline. It is more transferable than adopting a number from a player using a different DPI, aspect ratio, desk or grip.
Set the ADS multiplier after hip-fire sensitivity
Leave the ADS multiplier at 1 initially. First make ordinary look sensitivity comfortable, then test aiming down sights with the same 180-degree method or a controlled target-tracking drill. Lower ADS values can make fine corrections easier; higher values can preserve a faster turn while scoped. Change it only after you know your unzoomed sensitivity works.
Field of view and visual clarity
Use a high FOV as a starting point. The cited WARDOGS guide says a higher FOV expands peripheral vision and does not shrink scopes when FOV is increased. That makes it useful for spotting movement at the edge of the screen without sacrificing the apparent size of scoped targets.
FOV is still a preference setting. A very wide view can make distant targets appear smaller even if the game does not reduce scope magnification. If you struggle to identify targets, lower FOV in small steps and retest rather than changing sensitivity to compensate for a visual problem.
Keep graphics effects that obscure targets under control, but do not assume a particular quality preset is automatically best. The useful comparison is visual clarity versus performance: choose the highest clarity that maintains stable frame delivery on your system.

Controller sensitivity: a measured starting profile
Dexerto’s published starting table gives the following values. Treat them as a baseline for testing, not as a universal competitive configuration.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems| Option | Starting value | How to evaluate it |
|---|---|---|
| Gamepad Horizontal Sensitivity | 2.5 | Test 90- and 180-degree turns while keeping a target near the centre. |
| Gamepad Vertical Sensitivity | 1.8 | Lower vertical speed can make recoil and head-level tracking easier. |
| Gamepad ADS Multiplier | 0.35 | Use for controlled sight corrections; raise only if tracking feels too slow. |
| Look Acceleration | Enabled | Keep it consistent while testing other values. |
| Linear Look Acceleration Curve | Linear | Provides a predictable relationship between stick movement and turn speed. |
| Look Acceleration Multiplier | 1.6 | Change after basic sensitivity is comfortable. |
| Look Acceleration Threshold | 4.7 | Observe how quickly a larger stick deflection reaches faster turning. |
| Free Cursor Sensitivity | 1.8 | Adjust separately if menus or cursor movement feel too slow or fast. |
| Gamepad Response Curve | 2.0 | Keep fixed during comparisons so each test is meaningful. |
Set deadzones only as high as necessary
Begin at 0 and increase a stick’s deadzone incrementally until the on-screen aim stops moving when you release the stick. A larger deadzone hides drift but creates a zone in which small inputs do nothing, reducing fine aim. A newer or well-maintained controller may need very little deadzone; a worn stick may require more.
Test drift while the character is stationary and while aiming. If the reticle still moves at rest, raise the affected deadzone one step and test again. If the reticle no longer drifts but tiny adjustments feel unresponsive, you have gone too high.
Why vertical sensitivity is lower
The 1.8 vertical starting value is lower than the 2.5 horizontal value because many players need quicker side-to-side turns than vertical corrections. Lower vertical speed can make recoil control and head-level tracking less abrupt. If your game style depends on rapid elevation changes, raise it gradually rather than matching horizontal sensitivity automatically.
Movement and weapon swapping
Keep cycle-weapon controls reachable
The official WARDOGS settings reference documents cycle-weapon controls and related weapon actions, but it does not establish one best key for every player. Bind cycling where you can reach it without releasing movement or losing control of aim. Test the binding while strafing, sprinting and entering a fight.

Prioritize the actions you use under pressure: next weapon, previous weapon, reload, crouch or slide, jump and interact. A reachable binding is usually more valuable than a theoretically faster one that forces your hand away from movement.

Use Shift to steady aim
PC Gamer reports that holding Shift while aiming momentarily reduces aim sway with any gun and slightly zooms the view. Use it for deliberate shots, especially when watching an angle or firing at a distant target. Because it is a temporary hold rather than a permanent accuracy increase, release it when you need to move quickly or scan a wider area.
Build a weapon-swap drill
- Start with your primary weapon equipped and move between two fixed points.
- Cycle to your secondary without stopping, then return to the primary.
- Repeat while changing direction and while entering ADS.
- Check that the binding does not conflict with sprint, crouch, interact or ability inputs.
- Practice the sequence until the swap is deliberate rather than dependent on looking at the HUD.
If a swap feels slow, first verify that you are using the intended cycle command and that your input is not being blocked by another action. Raising sensitivity will not fix a binding or timing problem.
Helicopter controls that feel less sluggish
Helicopters combine broad turning with fine weapon aiming, so infantry sensitivity alone is not a useful guide. The official settings reference exposes vehicle weapon sensitivity, mouse-control options, helicopter cyclic and pedals, stability assist and other flight assists.
Recommended starting setup
- Enable rotary vehicle mouse control. WARDOGSBuild recommends it as the most precise starting option for players who aim rifles with a mouse.
- Set helicopter sensitivity around 30–50% initially.
- Leave stability assist on while learning the aircraft.
- Use the helicopter cyclic and pedal controls to separate lift, pitch, yaw and directional corrections.
At 30–50%, make a controlled turn and then place the nose on a fixed point. Increase sensitivity if you cannot turn fast enough in a threat, or lower it if the aircraft overshoots while you line up a target. Test one direction at a time so you can distinguish yaw problems from mouse-control problems.
Combine keyboard nudges with mouse aim
WARDOGS Handbook reports that WASD can nudge a vehicle turret, gun or rotor blades for small, precise adjustments while mouse input handles fine aim. Use the keyboard for a measured positional correction and the mouse for the final alignment. This is often easier than trying to make every correction with one input method.
When learning, stability assist reduces the workload of keeping the helicopter settled. Once you can hold a stable line and land shots consistently, experiment with assist changes in a controlled setting. Disabling assistance can provide more direct control, but it also makes small errors harder to recover from.

Speed up a slow turret
If a vehicle turret still feels sluggish after you confirm rotary mouse control and helicopter sensitivity, check the separate vehicle sensitivity multiplier. WARDOGS Handbook reports that this multiplier can be set as high as 2.0. Increase it in small steps and test both tracking and stopping; a turret that turns quickly but cannot stop on target is not an improvement.

Use Re-buy Loadout at the vendor
PC Gamer reports that the vendor’s bottom-left Re-buy Loadout button shows the previous gear and the total cost before purchase. It also lets you subtract items before confirming. This is the practical way to restore a repeatable kit when you do not want to rebuild every item manually.
- Open the vendor.
- Select Re-buy Loadout in the bottom-left of the vendor interface.
- Review the displayed previous gear and total cost.
- Remove any item you do not want to purchase this time.
- Confirm only after checking the final kit and cost.
Re-buy Loadout restores the previous vendor kit; it is not the same as a full class or preset system that automatically equips every preferred option.
What is known about the broader loadout feature
GamesRadar reported Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer saying, “Internally, we deliberately never gave the team loadouts.” The same report said future loadouts were confirmed as an in-game-cash unlock intended to streamline repeat setups, but gave no confirmed release timing. Therefore, do not plan around a specific launch date or assume the feature is available in your current build.

Use this routine whenever you change a setting or move between devices.
- Record the baseline. Note DPI or controller profile, FOV, sensitivity, ADS multiplier, deadzones and vehicle values.
- Test stationary aim. Track a fixed point and make small corrections without moving.
- Test movement aim. Strafe left and right while keeping the reticle at head level.
- Test turning. Perform repeated 90- and 180-degree turns from a marked starting point.
- Test weapon cycling. Swap in both directions while moving and aiming.
- Test vehicles separately. Check helicopter turn speed, stopping precision, turret tracking and stability before changing infantry values.
- Keep the better value. If a change improves one test but harms two others, revert it and try a smaller adjustment.
Troubleshooting common problems
“My aim changes speed from swipe to swipe.”
Check that mouse acceleration is disabled both in WARDOGS and in the operating system. Re-run the 180-degree test with the same DPI and starting position.
