WARDOGS has three factions, not two: Lonestar is blue, Valkyra is red, and Manticore is green. They compete for the same Control Zone under the same stated scoring and cash-progression rules. The official information reviewed does not establish a special blue-versus-red reward rate or combat-stat advantage.
That distinction matters if you have seen players ask, “what’s the deal with blue team?” or debate whether one color is easier to win with. The game’s documented rules support a straightforward answer: faction identity differs, but the objective and described progression are shared. Claims about which side wins more or has better terrain remain player impressions unless backed by reliable match data.
What blue and red mean in WARDOGS
WARDOGS is a three-team tactical FPS. The faction colors and names are Lonestar (blue), Valkyra (red), and Manticore (green). So a blue-versus-red comparison leaves out the green team, which is also competing for the objective.

The distinction established in the reviewed material is faction identity and color—not a different game mode for Lonestar and Valkyra.

That means choosing a side is not documented as a choice between different mission types. The same Control Zone matters to all three factions, and the same basic scoring condition applies: have more players in the zone than the competing teams when a scoring tick is awarded. Blue and red are meaningful as team identities, but the official material reviewed does not tie those identities to different victory conditions.
Objectives and scoring
WARDOGS’ Steam description says matches can include up to 100 players and use randomized 2×2 km Control Zones within larger maps. The team with the most players in the Control Zone earns points; the first faction to reach 100 points wins. These rules apply to all three factions, not just blue and red. See the WARDOGS Steam store page for the official description.
In practical terms, the objective is to put enough teammates in the zone to outnumber the other factions at scoring time. The official description makes presence the basis of scoring; it does not give Lonestar or Valkyra a separate scoring multiplier. A color choice therefore does not change the stated target: compete for the zone, score toward 100, and prevent another faction from getting there first.
The 100-player figure is a stated match capacity, not a promise that every match will have exactly 100 players. Likewise, the 2×2 km figure describes the randomized Control Zone, not the full dimensions of the larger maps around it. Those are useful scale and format details, but they do not imply a faction-specific map size or route advantage.
What the Hot Zone changes
Third-party guides describe a smaller, moving Hot Zone inside the larger Control Zone. In those guides, each player inside the Hot Zone counts as two players for scoring. MetaForge and Clutchbase also describe transport, supplying teammates, and building forward operating bases (FOBs) as useful contributions. These are secondary explanations, not official confirmation of an unchanging rule. Because WARDOGS is in Early Access and its systems can change, check current in-game behavior and official update information before relying on the double-counting detail for a specific match.
If the Hot Zone behavior described by those guides is active in your version, the distinction is about where players are inside the objective area, not which faction they belong to: a player in the smaller zone is described as counting twice regardless of being Lonestar, Valkyra, or Manticore. It is best not to build a universal strategy around that explanation without checking the current build, since the official materials reviewed do not establish it as a permanent scoring rule.
Rewards: cash, XP, and persistent progression
The official Steam description says each player starts with $10,000, buys a loadout for each life, and keeps cash between matches. It identifies reviving squadmates, transporting friendly players, and controlling the objective as teamplay actions that reward cash. The developers summarize that system this way: “Every teamplay action you perform rewards cash. From reviving squadmates, transporting friendlies to the zone, or controlling the objective. We don’t just encourage teamplay; we reward it.”

- Family-Friendly Fun: Ideal for ages 8 and up, Othello encourages critical thinking, planning ahead, and friendly competition at home or on the go.
The $10,000 starting amount is a starting cash figure, not a quoted loadout price or a faction-specific allowance. The description says players buy a loadout for each life, but the reviewed sources do not provide a complete price list, explain every purchase option, or specify how much cash each action pays. So it supports the conclusion that cash is part of the life-to-life loadout loop and that cash carries between matches; it does not support a precise budget guide or claim that one side can afford more.
Steam’s Early Access FAQ describes cash- and XP-based progression, along with vehicles, logistics systems, and support-focused play. Neither the store description nor the FAQ establishes different cash or XP rates for Lonestar and Valkyra. The available official information therefore supports a shared progression system, not a blue-versus-red reward advantage. Details may evolve as the game receives balance changes and feature updates.
There is also an important limit to what “shared progression” means here. The sources identify the progression currencies and some reward-earning actions, but do not give faction-by-faction reward tables or establish that every action pays an identical amount in every situation. The responsible comparison is narrower: no official material reviewed documents a special Lonestar cash rate, Valkyra XP bonus, or equivalent blue-versus-red modifier.
How faction cosmetics fit in
The Supporter Pack lists faction-branded weapon camos: Valkyra A-91, Lonestar Bushmaster, and Manticore KH-2002. These are cosmetic distinctions; the pack page does not present them as stat bonuses. It also says in-game cash and gold bars are earned through play and that camos are not sold directly. See the WARDOGS Supporter Pack page for its listed contents.

These examples show the kind of faction difference that is actually documented: a named weapon camo associated with each faction. They do not show that a faction’s weapon has different damage, handling, or other combat statistics. Nor should the existence of a cosmetic pack be confused with a requirement to buy it to compete. The reviewed pack information describes cosmetics, not a combat upgrade.
Blue vs. red at a glance

| Community reputation | Some players speculate about performance or approaches | Some players report different team behavior or outcomes | These are anecdotes, not measured balance results |
Manticore is the third faction and also contests the same objective. Its KH-2002 camo is listed alongside the blue and red faction camos in the Supporter Pack. It belongs in the comparison because WARDOGS is not a two-team mode, even when the question people are asking is specifically about blue and red.
Are blue and red balanced differently?
The reviewed official material does not document different faction health, damage, economy rules, vehicle prices, or exclusive weapon-stat bonuses for Lonestar and Valkyra. This is a finding about what those sources establish, not proof that no patch or undocumented mechanic could ever affect a match. A cosmetic faction difference should not be treated as evidence of a combat advantage.

- COOPERATIVE STRATEGY: Work as a team against the game itself in Pandemic. Players combine their roles and actions to contain four global outbreaks, share knowledge, and race to complete all four cures before time runs out.
- SPECIALIST ROLES: Play as the Medic, Scientist, Researcher, Operations Expert, and more. Each role has distinct abilities that shape team strategy and make every player's decisions important from start to finish.
- TEAMWORK GAMEPLAY: Pandemic rewards planning, card management, and coordinated moves. This cooperative strategy game creates tense decisions each round as players balance immediate threats with long-term progress.
- SERIES ENTRY POINT: Pandemic is the base game that introduces the wider series, including Pandemic Legacy Season 1. Learn the core systems here, then build on that experience in future campaign play.
- GROUP GAME NIGHT: For 2-4 players ages 8 and up, Pandemic plays in about 45-60 minutes. It fits family game nights at home, family vacations, adult board game groups, and players looking for a teamwork-focused tabletop challenge.
It is useful to keep three claims separate. First, the factions have different names and colors; that is established. Second, the Supporter Pack lists faction-branded camos; that is also established. Third, one faction has better combat stats, a cheaper economy, or a higher chance of winning; the sources reviewed do not establish that. Conflating these points can make a cosmetic or community impression sound like a verified gameplay mechanic.

Some players discuss whether blue team performs worse, whether a faction has harder terrain or approaches, or whether teams coordinate differently. Those posts are impressions and disagreements, not verified match data. No reliable published blue-versus-red win-rate figure is established here, so claims that one side wins more should not be presented as measured balance results.
Community perceptions can still be useful as a record of what players notice or debate. The Steam Community thread title “The Blue team dilema” and the phrasing “what’s the deal with blue team?” show that the question is part of player conversation. They do not answer it statistically. Match outcomes can be discussed by individual players, but the available sources contain no aggregate data that would let a reader conclude that Lonestar is objectively weaker or Valkyra objectively stronger.
What to focus on when choosing a side
The faction color is not a documented strategic upgrade. For match decisions, focus on the shared objective and ways to help your team reach it:
- Move enough players into the Control Zone to contest scoring. Officially, the team with the most players in the zone earns the point at a scoring tick.
- Use transport to get teammates to the objective; the official description identifies transporting friendlies as a cash-rewarding action.
- Revive squadmates. Revives are specifically named as a cash-rewarding teamplay action in the official description.
- Support logistics and objective play. The Early Access FAQ describes vehicles and logistics systems, while secondary guides mention supplies and FOB building as useful contributions.
- If relying on Hot Zone double-counting, confirm that the mechanic is current in your version rather than assuming a guide remains up to date.
This is not a promise that every listed action has the same cash payout, or that a particular combination guarantees a win. The official description supplies the broad reward principle and objective condition; it does not publish a precise action-by-action payout chart or an optimal team composition in the reviewed sources.

The FAQ says balance changes, feature expansion, and polish are expected, which is another reason to distinguish a documented current description from a permanent guarantee.
What the sources do—and do not—say about buying in
The game and Supporter Pack are Steam digital products. The Supporter Pack is described in terms of in-game cosmetics; the reviewed material does not support recommending a physical product for this faction comparison. A generic PC accessory recommendation would not answer whether blue and red differ in objectives or rewards.

Likewise, the available information does not establish an affiliate or referral program for WARDOGS or the Supporter Pack. There is no verified tracked link, commission, or program terms in the reviewed sources. A recommendation should not imply that such a program exists unless the relevant program owner confirms it. For the player deciding between Lonestar and Valkyra, the key point is that the documented faction choice is identity and cosmetics—not a paid combat edge.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Bottom line on Lonestar blue vs. Valkyra red
Lonestar and Valkyra are different factions in name and color, but the reviewed official sources give them the same shared Control Zone objective and describe a common cash-and-XP progression system. WARDOGS also includes green Manticore, which competes for the same zone. The game’s store description sets out the main figures—up to 100 players, randomized 2×2 km Control Zones, 100 points to win, and $10,000 starting cash—but does not establish blue-versus-red reward rates, combat bonuses, or a verified win-rate gap.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is WARDOGS blue team Lonestar and red team Valkyra?
Yes. The faction reference identifies Lonestar as blue and Valkyra as red. WARDOGS also has a third faction, Manticore, which is green.
Is WARDOGS only a blue-versus-red game?
No. The game is described as a three-team tactical FPS. Lonestar, Valkyra, and Manticore compete for the same Control Zone.
Do blue and red have different objectives or scoring rules?
No separate faction objective or scoring rule is established in the reviewed official material. The stated win condition is to have the most players in the Control Zone for scoring and reach 100 points first.
Does one faction get better rewards, cash, or XP?
The official sources describe cash- and XP-based progression but do not document a different cash or XP rate for Lonestar and Valkyra. The game description says players start with $10,000, keep cash between matches, and earn cash through actions such as reviving, transporting friendlies, and controlling the objective.

Does blue team have worse win rates?
No reliable published blue-versus-red win-rate figure was established in the available sources. Community posts offer conflicting impressions about performance, terrain, and coordination, but they are not verified match data.
What is the WARDOGS Hot Zone, and does it count double?
Third-party guides describe a smaller moving Hot Zone inside the Control Zone, where each occupant counts as two players for scoring. Because that detail is from secondary guides and the game is in Early Access, check current in-game behavior and official update information before relying on it.
Do faction camos change weapon performance?
The Supporter Pack lists Valkyra A-91, Lonestar Bushmaster, and Manticore KH-2002 camos as faction-branded cosmetics. The reviewed pack information does not present them as combat-stat bonuses.

How much starting cash do players get, and what does it cover?
The Steam description says every player starts with $10,000 and buys a loadout for each life. The reviewed sources do not provide a full loadout price list or the payout amount for each teamplay action.
Are a Supporter Pack purchase or special equipment required to compete as blue or red?
The reviewed Supporter Pack information describes cosmetics, not a required combat upgrade. No special blue- or red-faction purchase requirement is established.
What are the system requirements for WARDOGS?
The Steam store page lists system requirements, but its specifications are not included here. Check the current Steam listing for the requirements rather than relying on an incomplete summary.
The Bottom Line
Lonestar (blue) and Valkyra (red) share the documented objective and progression rules; Manticore (green) is the third team in the same fight. The reviewed official material does not establish a faction-specific reward rate, combat-stat edge, or verified win-rate gap. Choose by faction identity, and treat Hot Zone guidance and community balance claims cautiously because rules and perceptions can change.
