3.5 mm analogue connection
A conventional 3.5 mm stereo plug can connect directly to a device with a headphone socket. The DALI iO-12, for example, has a passive wired-only mode through a 3.5 mm stereo jack, according to an Audio T review published May 1, 2024: Audio T’s DALI iO-12 review. That is an example of one model’s configuration, not proof that the unnamed £30 pair uses the same plug or wiring.
USB-C, Lightning and adapters
If your device has no analogue headphone socket, you may need a compatible digital adapter or a USB-C/Lightning headset. An adapter can contain its own digital-to-analogue converter, and compatibility depends on the phone, operating system and adapter design. Do not assume that a passive plug converter will work with every USB-C port.

Using a separate DAC
TechRadar describes the iFi Go Link 2 as a compact headphone DAC for wired earbuds and headphones, including phones or laptops that lack a 3.5 mm jack. Its listed price in that coverage is £59, which is accessory context—not the price of the headphones in the headline. See TechRadar’s 2026 gadget list. A DAC is optional when your device already has a suitable headphone output.

How to verify the £30 pair before buying
- Find the original publication. Search for the complete headline and look for a byline, publication date and a product name in the article itself.
- Record the exact model number. Similar product names can refer to different generations, regional versions or bundles.
- Check the award independently. Confirm the award title, judging organisation, year and category on the organiser’s own site or an archived announcement.
- Check the seller’s live price. Verify the currency, delivery charge, stock status and whether £30 was a sale or launch price. A current listing should show the same model number.
- Match the connector to your device. Confirm whether you need 3.5 mm, USB-C, Lightning or a DAC, and check microphone and remote support if calls are important.
