“Wangular” was Bytes’ playful name for an Angular–Wiz collaboration, not the announced name of a new Google framework. In its March 21, 2024 issue, Bytes reported that the teams were sharing Angular Signals primitives and that they were in production on YouTube mobile web. The issue described a possible full merger as uncertain.
What is “Wangular”?
“Wangular is born” was the headline of Bytes issue 273, published March 21, 2024. The newsletter used “Wangular” as a playful label for work between Angular and Wiz. The label is not evidence that Google released a separate framework with that official name.
In the issue’s description, Angular is the public web framework and Wiz is Google’s internal JavaScript framework. The collaboration centered on Signals, Angular’s primitives for managing reactive updates in an application. Bytes reported that the teams were sharing code; it did not announce that the two frameworks had become one.

The March 2024 issue treated a full Angular–Wiz merger as uncertain. The collaboration and shared Signals work do not establish that the frameworks were fully merged, nor that developers could choose a public product called “Wangular.”

Angular’s roadmap now marks the Signals project complete in Q2 2025 and lists Signals-related APIs among production-ready features. That is evidence of Angular Signals’ progress in Angular—not evidence of a merger or of Wiz’s current internal status. What did Angular Signals improve on YouTube?
Bytes reported that the shared Signals primitives were in production on YouTube mobile web and associated the work with 35% better input latency on low-end devices. That figure is Bytes’ report of a result, not a general performance guarantee for Angular or for applications using Signals.

A later Angular v20 announcement reported that YouTube shared a 35% improvement in input latency for its Living Room experience. The two accounts describe different YouTube contexts—mobile web in Bytes and Living Room in the Angular announcement—so they should not be collapsed into a claim about one universal test or result. Neither account, as presented in these sources, supplies enough study-design detail to generalize the improvement to other apps or devices.
