If Waltz and Jam will not launch, crashes, or runs poorly, start by comparing your PC with the game’s published requirements, restarting Windows, updating your graphics driver, and verifying the game files in Steam. These are general PC troubleshooting steps, not confirmed fixes for a known Waltz and Jam defect. At the time of the Steam listing information available for this guide, the game was not yet available and had a planned release date of December 3, 2026, so title-specific fixes and player-reported issues were not established.

The order matters: a game that never opens needs different checks from one that opens but stutters. Work through one change at a time, retry after each, and record what happens. That makes it easier to identify a useful clue and avoids treating a general PC checklist as a diagnosis.

Check the game’s PC requirements first

Steam lists Waltz and Jam as a single-player action-adventure platformer for Windows 10/11. Its published minimum and recommended specifications are below. These are store requirements, not independent benchmark results or a promise of a particular frame rate, resolution, or graphics preset.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Component Minimum Recommended
Operating system Windows 10/11 Windows 10/11
Processor Intel Core i5-6500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 Intel Core i7-6700 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
Memory 8 GB RAM 8 GB RAM
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 560 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 6600
Available storage 4 GB 4 GB

Compare each listed component, not just RAM or the graphics card. A PC below one or more minimum specifications may be unable to run the game reliably. A PC that meets minimum but not recommended specifications may need reduced graphics settings if the game launches. The published requirements do not specify a target resolution or expected frame rate.

For example, having 8 GB of RAM and enough storage does not by itself mean a system meets the minimum specification: the processor and graphics card matter too, as does the operating system. Similarly, a graphics card that meets the minimum tier does not offset a processor that is below its listed minimum. Compare the actual parts in the PC against the corresponding entries rather than relying on a single “gaming” label or one component’s model name.

How to interpret your result

  • Below minimum: Check which component falls short before changing settings. Lowering graphics options cannot make an unsupported processor or insufficient memory meet the published requirement. Keep the shortfall in mind when interpreting a launch failure or poor performance.
  • Between minimum and recommended: If the game opens but performs poorly, try lower in-game graphics settings and retest. The minimum specification is not a promise that every graphics preset or display configuration will run smoothly.
  • At or above recommended: This does not guarantee a particular frame rate. If there is a problem, use the symptom-specific checks below rather than assuming the hardware is the cause.

The requirements list the same operating system, memory, and storage amounts for both tiers, but the recommended processor and graphics card are stronger than the minimum options. The listing does not explain why those tiers differ or attach a resolution, quality preset, or frame-rate target to either one. Treat them as a compatibility reference, not a performance chart.

If Waltz and Jam will not launch

Work through these checks in order, changing one thing at a time. Steam’s general troubleshooting guidance notes that corrupted game files and software that interferes with Steam are among possible causes of launch failures; those possibilities do not identify the cause of a particular failure.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Restart the PC. A restart clears some temporary problems and completes updates that are waiting for a reboot. After restarting, try launching the game again. If the PC has pending update prompts, finish those through their normal Windows process before testing.
  2. Install available Windows and graphics-driver updates. Use Windows Update and the appropriate graphics-card vendor’s update process. Restart if either updater requests it, then retry. Steam and Rockstar Games Support both recommend keeping the operating system and graphics drivers current as general troubleshooting practice. A current driver is a sensible baseline, not proof that an old driver caused the issue or that an update will necessarily fix it.
  3. Verify the installed files in Steam. In Steam, open Library, right-click Waltz and Jam, choose Properties, then Installed Files and Verify integrity of game files. Wait for the check to finish before launching again. This checks the installed files; it cannot resolve every driver, hardware, or compatibility issue. Steam identifies corrupted extracted game files as one possible reason a game may fail to launch.
  4. Close non-essential background software and retry. Exit unnecessary applications that may interfere with Steam or the game. Close one category of software at a time and test again so you can identify whether a change mattered. Avoid closing system processes or making several unrelated changes at once; the point is to check for interference while keeping the result interpretable.
  5. Compare your PC with every minimum requirement. Check the operating system, processor, memory, graphics card, and available storage. If a component is below the listed minimum, note it when seeking support rather than treating file verification or a graphics setting as a guaranteed fix.

These checks are useful because they cover distinct possibilities: a restart can complete pending system changes, updates establish a current software baseline, verification checks the Steam installation, and closing optional software tests for interference. If one step changes the behavior, note exactly which one. If none changes it, that is also useful information; repeating the same checks without recording the result is unlikely to make the cause clearer.

Record the exact failure

If the game still does not start, note what happens: for example, whether Steam shows a brief launch status, whether an error message appears, or whether the game opens and then closes. Record the error text, your PC’s relevant specifications, and which checks you tried. This gives the developer useful details without mistaking a general checklist for a diagnosis. Consult Flyway Games’ current support channel; a title-specific support URL or set of instructions was not established in the Steam listing information.

Be specific when describing “won’t launch.” There is a difference between the game not appearing to start at all, an error appearing before the main menu, and a game that opens and then exits. If the problem began after an update or a particular change, include that timing. If it happens every attempt or only sometimes, say so. These details help support staff distinguish the observed symptom from a possible explanation.

If the game launches but has low FPS or stutters

First compare your PC with the published requirements and close unnecessary applications. If performance is still poor, reduce the game’s graphics settings, then test again. General publisher guidance from Capcom Support notes that PCs meeting minimum but not recommended specifications may need lower settings and that some changes may require restarting the game. This advice is not evidence that Waltz and Jam has a particular performance problem.

  1. Change one graphics setting at a time. Lower a demanding setting, test the same part of the game, and record the result. If you alter several options together, it becomes harder to tell which change helped or made the image quality worse. Make a note of the original value so you can restore it if there is no improvement.
  2. Restart the game when a change calls for it. Some graphics changes do not take effect until the game restarts. If the menu or the game’s support materials indicate a restart is needed, close and reopen the game before judging the result.
  3. Check for competing workload. Close non-essential applications and retest. If the stutter changes, that points to a possible resource conflict; it does not prove the game itself is free of other issues. Keep the test as similar as possible, including the same scene or activity when practical, so that you are comparing like with like.
  4. Check driver and Windows updates. If you have not already done so, update them using their normal update channels and restart if prompted. Do not assume an update will fix every performance symptom.

Low frame rate and stuttering are related but not identical descriptions. “Low FPS” usually means the game looks persistently less smooth than expected; “stuttering” describes intermittent pauses or uneven motion. The listing provides no Waltz and Jam frame-rate benchmarks, and there is no published target FPS to use as a pass/fail number. Describe what you see and when it occurs instead of inventing a numerical threshold.

If performance is poor only after increasing visual settings, return to a lower setting and compare. If it remains poor at lower settings, the next useful steps are to revisit the system requirements, close non-essential applications, and ensure Windows and graphics drivers are current. Do not assume that buying a new accessory or changing an unrelated system setting will improve frame rate; the Steam listing does not connect controller use with performance.

Other checks to use only when relevant

  • Display configuration: If the problem appears tied to a display mode or resolution, test a supported in-game display option and change only that option before retesting. The listing does not specify a preferred resolution or display mode.
  • Security software: Some security software can mistakenly block a game executable. Do not turn off security protection wholesale. If you have a specific block or alert, consult your security provider’s instructions for an appropriate exclusion. Capcom Support notes that false blocking can occur, but that does not establish a security-software conflict for this game.
  • Ventilation: If the PC is unusually hot or its cooling is obstructed, check that its vents are clear and that it has adequate airflow. This is a general PC check, not confirmation that heat causes a particular game issue.
  • DirectX or graphics-driver settings: Consider these only when a specific error or the game’s official support guidance points to them. Capcom’s broader checklist includes DirectX and graphics-driver settings, but broad system changes can introduce new problems and are not a first step.
  • Safe mode: Use a safe mode only if the game’s own support materials document one. Rockstar Games Support describes safe mode as a way, in games that support it, to help distinguish whether graphics settings are too high. The Steam listing does not establish that Waltz and Jam includes a safe mode.

These conditional checks are not a reason to change every PC setting preemptively. Start with the symptom and evidence: a security exclusion is relevant if protection software identifies a specific executable, for example, not simply because a launch attempt failed. A display adjustment is relevant if the issue appears tied to display configuration. If there is no specific clue, stick to the basic steps and seek game-specific support rather than experimenting with broad system changes.

Separate a Steam or PC problem from a game-specific problem

A launch failure and poor frame rate call for different checks. File verification and possible software interference are more relevant when the game will not start; graphics settings are relevant only after it opens. If a problem persists after the general checks, preserve the exact symptom and the steps that reproduce it, then consult the game’s current support channel. The Steam listing and general support guidance do not establish a known bug, a title-specific crash fix, a patch, or a ranking of which troubleshooting step is most likely to work.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

It also helps to distinguish where the problem appears in the launch sequence. An error before the game opens is different from a crash after reaching the menu, while a game that reaches play but runs unevenly belongs in the performance checks. Steam’s general guidance says causes can vary across hardware and software configurations, so one symptom alone is not enough to identify the responsible component. Avoid describing a suspected cause as confirmed until the game’s support team or a verified title-specific notice identifies it.

The Steam listing describes a journey through an afterlife with seven realms inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins, environmental puzzles, boss encounters, and Waltz’s shape-shifting dog companion, Jam. It also lists full controller support for Xbox controllers, DualShock controllers, and DualSense controllers over USB, and says the developers recommend playing with a controller. A controller is an optional control preference, not a fix for launch failures, crashes, low frame rates, or stuttering. In particular, the recommendation does not mean that keyboard and mouse are a troubleshooting cause, nor that buying a controller changes PC performance.

Availability and what to recheck

The Steam listing information available for this guide showed Waltz and Jam as not yet available, with no user reviews and a planned release date of December 3, 2026. That date was still in the future on October 13, 2026. Consequently, the steps here are cautious general PC guidance rather than a list of fixes confirmed by players or by Flyway Games for this specific title.

Availability, requirements, support instructions, and known issues can change; check the current Steam listing and the developer’s current support materials when the game becomes available. Recheck before relying on a date, support route, or system requirement, and look for title-specific instructions if an error persists. Do not treat the absence of a known issue in the listing as proof that no issue exists; it only means the cited listing did not establish one at the time noted.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the PC requirements for Waltz and Jam?

Steam lists Windows 10/11, 8 GB RAM, and 4 GB available storage for both tiers. Minimum CPU and GPU are an Intel Core i5-6500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, plus an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 560. Recommended CPU and GPU are an Intel Core i7-6700 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X, plus an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 6600. The listing does not promise a specific resolution or frame rate.

What should I do if Waltz and Jam won’t launch?

Restart the PC, install available Windows and graphics-driver updates, verify the game files through Steam, close non-essential background software, and compare every PC component with the minimum requirements. Change one thing at a time. If it still fails, record the exact error and your system specifications, then contact Flyway Games through its current support channel. These are general checks, not confirmed fixes for a known game-specific defect.

What can I try if Waltz and Jam keeps crashing?

First note when the crash occurs and whether an error message appears. Then try the general launch checks: restart, update Windows and the graphics driver, verify the Steam installation, and close non-essential software. If the game opens before crashing, include that detail and the steps that reproduce it when seeking support. No title-specific crash fix or patch was established by the Steam listing.

How do I fix low FPS or stuttering in Waltz and Jam?

Compare your CPU, memory, graphics card, operating system, and storage with the published requirements; close unnecessary applications; and, if the game opens, lower one graphics setting at a time and retest. Restart if a setting requires it. The listing provides no benchmark or target frame rate, so there is no supported FPS number to use as a guarantee.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does Waltz and Jam have a safe mode, and should I use one?

The Steam listing does not establish that the game has a safe mode. General support guidance describes safe mode as a useful comparison in games that document and support it, but use one only if Waltz and Jam’s own support materials confirm the option.

Will a controller fix launch or performance problems?

No. Steam lists full support for Xbox and DualShock controllers and USB-only support for DualSense, and says the developers recommend a controller for play. That is a control preference, not a launch, crash, FPS, or stuttering remedy.

The Bottom Line

Start with the Steam-listed requirements, then separate a launch failure from poor performance. For launch trouble, restart, update Windows and graphics drivers, verify Steam files, and close non-essential software. For low FPS or stutter, check hardware and test lower graphics settings one at a time. These are general troubleshooting steps, not confirmed fixes for a Waltz and Jam-specific issue; if they do not help, document the exact symptom and consult Flyway Games’ current support channel.
