How to download and set a wallpaper
- Open the October 14 Wallpaper Wednesday article and select the Google Drive link for the full-resolution files. The images embedded in the story are compressed previews.
- Download the JPG or PNG you want to your phone, tablet or computer. Keep the original file if you plan to crop it for more than one device.
- On Android, open the image in your gallery or file manager, choose the menu option to set it as wallpaper, and select the home screen, lock screen or both. The exact label can vary by device maker and Android version.
- Adjust the crop so the subject is not hidden by icons, a clock or a camera cutout, then confirm.
- On a tablet or computer, use the operating system’s wallpaper or background settings and choose the downloaded file. Select fill, fit, stretch or center according to how much cropping you want.
Why the full-resolution file matters
A preview can look sharp inside a web page while appearing soft when enlarged on a high-density display. The roundup therefore separates compressed article previews from the full-resolution downloads. Since no dimensions are stated, the practical check is whether the file remains detailed after you preview it at your screen’s native shape. A wide laptop display may require more side cropping than a phone, while a tall phone may cut off parts of a landscape or building.
October’s upcoming Halloween editions
The remaining October Wallpaper Wednesday posts are announced as Halloween-themed. Android Authority is seeking spooky images, pumpkin carvings, autumn settings and Day of the Dead wallpapers for those editions. How to submit your own wallpaper
Submissions must be the contributor’s own photographs or digital artwork. Purely AI-generated images are rejected, although a creator may submit work they made and later augmented with AI tools. Files must be unwatermarked, and contributors must agree that Android Authority may share them freely.
- Prepare the highest-resolution version of your original image without a watermark.
- Use the submission form to provide the file, your name and a short description.
- Add a social-media link only if you want to; it is optional.
- If selected, expect a contributor credit and an optional link in the published roundup.
Descriptions are useful when an image has personal or geographic context, as with the jabuticaba tree connected to Sathler’s family or the lake scene in Kazakhstan.
