Walking apps can offer cash redemption, gift cards, store offers, charity donations, crypto tokens, or a chance to win a shared pot—but those rewards are not equivalent, and steps do not guarantee income. The clearest documented examples are Evidation, which lets eligible US members redeem points earned from several health activities, WeWard, whose Wards are app points rather than money, and StepBet, which requires a cash stake and makes any payout conditional on meeting step goals.

Below are 15 names commonly associated with step rewards. Current official terms could be verified in the available sources for only four entries, so the other 11 are identified as candidates to check—not endorsed or presented with invented payout details. Before signing up, check the app’s current country availability, reward menu, redemption rules, and activity requirements.

What “get paid to walk” means in practice

Step-reward apps use different reward systems. A cash redemption has a stated monetary value; a gift card or store offer is limited to a particular redemption option; app points may have no cash value; crypto tokens fluctuate in value; and a wager-based contest can return less than the amount you put in—or nothing if you miss the goals. A donation directs a reward to a charitable cause rather than to your bank account.

None of the documented programs establishes a dependable hourly wage or a universal amount per step. Some also reward activities other than walking, such as surveys, sleep tracking, purchases, or challenges. Treat any earnings estimate as app- and activity-specific, and do not assume that every recorded step can be cashed out.

App Reward and conditions What to verify
Evidation Points can be earned for walking and other health activities, then redeemed for cash or donated. Its FAQ states 10,000 points equals $10; that conversion applies to points across the program, not a guaranteed walking-only rate. The surfaced redemption terms limit eligibility to US residents aged 18 or older. No upfront stake is described. Available payout options may change. A 2023 getting-started page describes Tremendous options including bank transfer, PayPal, gift cards, or charity; confirm current choices in the app. The help page says users can connect fitness apps and devices. WeWard Wards are in-app points, not money, a bank account, or a payment instrument. The app may offer vouchers, discounts, cash prizes, goods, or charitable support; no universal cash conversion is established. No general upfront stake is stated. The reward menu, redemption threshold, eligible countries, and verification rules can change and should be checked in-app. Terms updated September 25, 2026 require at least 14 days of app activity before requesting a bank transfer or gift card; this is an eligibility condition, not a promise that payment arrives within 14 days. Some cash prizes may require payment details and identity checks. WeWard terms
StepBet Players select a game and put money into its pot, then work toward personalized weekly step goals. Players who complete the game’s requirements share the pot; winning is conditional, not guaranteed pay. The official page lists Garmin, Fitbit, Apple Health, Apple Watch, and Google Health Connect support. Check the individual game’s stake, rules, and terms before entering. The site’s displayed lifetime totals are publisher-reported running totals, not an estimate of what an individual will earn. StepBet
Sweatcoin and SWEAT Sweatcoin app balance and SWEAT crypto are separate systems. Sweatcoins stay in the Sweatcoin app and cannot be converted into SWEAT; SWEAT is earned through the Sweatcoin and Sweat Wallet apps. Neither should be assigned a fixed cash value without a current official basis. Earning windows depend on plan and date. A surfaced 2025 help result describes free and premium plan ranges, while a 2024 result describes a change to the SWEAT minting window after a community vote. How to choose a step-reward app

Decide what counts as a reward for you

If you want spendable money, look for an explicit cash redemption method, eligibility rules, and a minimum redemption amount. A points balance, in-app offer, donation, or token is not interchangeable with cash. For a contest, account for the stake and the possibility of receiving no payout.

Check whether steps are enough

Read the earning rules for activities beyond walking. Evidation’s program includes other health actions, while the verified sources do not support a general claim that any particular rate is earned by walking alone. Check whether a service also relies on surveys, referrals, shopping, ads, challenges, or purchases before estimating how much effort redemption will take.

Confirm location, age, and redemption rules

Eligibility may vary by country, age, and reward type. Evidation’s surfaced terms specify US residents aged 18 or older for redemption. WeWard’s app menu and rules may vary, and StepBet participation depends on the specific game. Review the current terms where you live rather than assuming an app works worldwide.

Check tracking and privacy before connecting accounts

A fitness tracker is not a universal requirement. Evidation supports connections to fitness apps and devices, and StepBet lists several health platforms and devices. Confirm that your phone or existing watch is compatible before buying hardware, and review what health and activity data the app collects.

Do you need a fitness tracker?

Not necessarily. Some apps can use phone-recorded activity or connect to services and devices you already use. The documented Evidation and StepBet pages describe integrations, but compatibility varies by app and may change. Check the current supported-device list before making a purchase; the evidence does not establish that a separate tracker is required for these programs.
