The VonHaus 12L Auto Dehumidifier with Laundry Mode (SKU 2000276) is worth considering for a small, damp-prone room if compact size and a low upfront price matter more than quiet operation or long stretches without emptying the tank. Expert Reviews’ room tests found it reduced humidity in a small bedroom, but its 1.5L tank filled during a combined dehumidifying and laundry-drying session, and its low rumble was noticeable through floors and walls.
This review covers SKU 2000276 only. It is not the similarly named VonHaus 12L Low Energy model, SKU 2000273, which has a different body, a 2L tank and different specifications.
What the VonHaus 12L 2000276 is—and what it is not
VonHaus lists SKU 2000276 as the “12L Auto Dehumidifier with Laundry Mode.” Its 12L/day figure is the manufacturer’s maximum extraction rating, not a promise that it will collect 12 litres in every room or set of conditions. The company specifies a 1.5L tank and coverage of 15m².
Check the SKU before buying: the separate “12L Low Energy Dehumidifier with Laundry Mode,” SKU 2000273, is a different machine. Its official listing gives it a 2L tank, 20m² coverage, 200W rated power and 39dB noise figure; those numbers do not apply to the 2000276 reviewed here.

How well does it reduce humidity?
Expert Reviews published its review on 5 October 2026. Reviewer Stuart Andrews tested the unit for several days in a three-bedroom home, using a damp-prone living room and a smaller bedroom held at around 19–20°C. These are observations from those rooms, not guaranteed results for other homes.

The result is most persuasive for a smaller room: the bedroom’s relative humidity fell by 13 percentage points in two hours during the review. The larger lounge also saw a reduction, but the slower progress and observed 61% floor make this a less convincing choice if you need to manage damp across a larger space.
Can it dry clothes?
In Expert Reviews’ six-hour laundry run, the reviewer used the unit continuously with the fan on high. Socks, underwear and T-shirts were dry; jeans and heavier joggers needed longer. It can help with lighter laundry, but this test does not show that it will dry every load in six hours or replace a tumble dryer.

Although VonHaus markets a Laundry Mode, Expert Reviews noted that the panel and user guide do not present a separate one-touch control labelled “Laundry.” The manual calls the relevant setting “Continuous Laundry Mode,” selected through the mode control. In this mode, the fan and compressor run regardless of the room’s humidity, and fan speed is adjustable.
How often will you need to empty the tank?
The 1.5L tank is the clearest convenience compromise. During the review’s combined dehumidifying and laundry-drying use, it filled before the drying cycle was finished. When full, the unit pauses and signals the user, according to the manual. How often it fills in ordinary use depends on how much moisture it collects and how long it runs.
Use continuous drainage to reduce manual emptying
VonHaus says a drainage hose is included. The manual advises connecting it securely, keeping it straight and unobstructed, and routing it below the outlet. It recommends a hose of around 1m and a downward angle greater than 20°. A suitable drain and a correctly routed hose can make longer sessions more convenient; without that setup, expect to empty the tank when the unit signals it is full.

How noisy is it?
VonHaus specifies 42dB. In its 5 October 2026 review, Expert Reviews measured 44.7dBA with the compressor active and the fan on high, and 40dBA on low fan. The reviewer also described a low-pitch rumble that carried through walls and floors, making the sound more intrusive than the headline measurement alone might suggest.

If you plan to run it in a bedroom or beside a quiet living area, that rumble is worth considering alongside the decibel figures. Low fan reduced the measured level in the review, but the source does not establish that it eliminates the sound’s transmission through a building.
What does it cost to run?
VonHaus’s product page gives a “just 7p per hour” claim based on the January 2026 price cap. The same page’s calculator uses an Ofgem rate of 26.32p/kWh from 1 October 2026 and lists the 2000276 at 240W. At a constant 240W and that tariff, the arithmetic is about 6.3p per operating hour, excluding standing charges. This is an estimate based on rated power, not a household bill prediction.

In Expert Reviews’ test, observed power peaked at 168.5W, below the 240W rating, and fell to about 28.5W while the unit was cruising in Auto mode with the compressor off. Actual consumption varies with operating mode and compressor cycling, so the running cost will not be a fixed hourly amount.

Modes and humidity setting
The manufacturer lists Auto, Laundry and Sleep modes. The manual explains that Auto mode activates the fan and compressor when room humidity is more than five percentage points above the selected target; the compressor stops once humidity is five points below it. The target can be set from 30% to 80%. Continuous Laundry mode runs the compressor and fan regardless of humidity, with adjustable fan speed.

Filter care
The manual recommends cleaning the filter regularly, suggesting every two weeks. Turn the dehumidifier off and unplug it first. Vacuum dust from the filter or wash it with mild soap and water, then let it dry fully before putting it back.

Price and value
On 7 October 2026, VonHaus’s product page showed a special price of £94.99 against a regular price of £119.99. Expert Reviews showed a reviewed price of £120 and a linked Amazon price of £94.99. These are dated page snapshots, not a guarantee of today’s price or stock; check that a retailer listing names the exact 2000276 SKU before ordering.
At the displayed offer price, the compact footprint and observed bedroom performance make the 2000276 a plausible option for occasional use in a small space. The purchase is harder to justify if your priorities are a bigger collection tank, quieter operation, or extended unattended laundry drying.
Should you buy the VonHaus 12L Dehumidifier?
Consider the 2000276 if you need a compact dehumidifier for a small, damp-prone room and are comfortable emptying a small tank or arranging continuous drainage. The review provides useful evidence of humidity reduction in a small bedroom and of lighter clothes drying in a six-hour run.
Look elsewhere if the machine will run near people who are sensitive to low-frequency noise, if a 1.5L tank would interrupt your routine, or if you need dependable drying for heavier laundry without extending the cycle. Expert Reviews’ conclusion was that the unit is “cheap to buy, easy to stow away and effective in small spaces”; it also noted that a larger, more versatile dehumidifier may suit buyers with more room and budget.
