HDMI ports on a VIZIO TV may be on the side, on the rear, or in both places; their number and labels depend on the exact model. Check the model number on the TV’s rear label, then use its official manual’s connection diagram to locate each HDMI input and identify any port marked ARC.
Where HDMI ports are on a VIZIO TV
There is no single port layout for every VIZIO TV. HDMI sockets may sit along a side edge, in a recessed strip on the back, or in both locations. VIZIO’s manuals caution that the number and positions vary by model. The E-series XUM manual illustrates HDMI connections on the side and rear; its diagram is an example, not a layout guide for every set.
When checking the TV itself, look along the side edge and the lower rear connection panel. If the set is wall-mounted and the rear panel is difficult to see, consult the model diagram or use a phone camera rather than pulling the TV away from the wall.

Find the exact port layout for your model
- Get the complete model number. Read the label on the back of the TV or check its original documentation. Do not rely on screen size or series name alone.
- Open the matching official manual. Search the complete model number on VIZIO’s official site and find its user guide. Use the illustrated connection or rear-panel diagram, not a generic picture for another series.
- Match the socket to its label. Look for the printed “HDMI” marking and note any number or additional label, such as ARC. The diagram for your model is the best guide to what each port does.
- Contact VIZIO support if you cannot confirm it. Provide the complete model number if labels are obscured or the manual is unavailable; do not assume a port’s position or function.

How to identify the HDMI port for a soundbar
If you are connecting a soundbar, find the port specifically marked ARC or eARC in the manual or on the TV. Do not assume HDMI 1—or any other fixed number—is the ARC port on every VIZIO model. Check the soundbar’s connection instructions as well. VIZIO’s soundbar quick-start guide says the HDMI ARC location can differ by TV manufacturer and directs users to the TV’s manual.
Tell HDMI apart from nearby connections
Connection panels can group several kinds of sockets together. Use the printed labels and your model’s diagram to distinguish HDMI from USB, coaxial or antenna, Ethernet, optical audio, component, and composite connections. The shape or position of a nearby socket is not enough to identify it.
