The vivo X300 is the more compact conventional phone; Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is a book-style foldable with a much larger inner screen. They serve different needs, so the useful comparison is whether you want a pocketable camera-focused handset or a phone that opens into a larger workspace. The published prices also come from different markets and price bases, so they do not establish a direct price gap.

Which screen is better for your use?
Choose the X300 for a single compact screen
The X300 has one 6.31-inch flat display. It is the simpler fit if you prefer a conventional handset that is narrower and lighter than the Fold8 Ultra. vivo lists adaptive refresh from 1Hz to 120Hz and advertises a 4,500-nit local peak brightness; that brightness figure is a manufacturer claim, not an independent measurement.

Choose the Fold8 Ultra for an expandable workspace
The Fold8 Ultra gives you a 6.5-inch cover display for use while folded and an 8.0-inch inner display when opened. That larger surface is the more relevant advantage for working with multiple windows, reading, or viewing content on a phone-sized device. Samsung positions the model for productivity and content creation; that positioning is not proof of a real-world performance advantage.

How do their cameras compare?
On paper, the X300 has a clearly specified three-camera rear system: 200MP main, 50MP telephoto and 50MP ultrawide. vivo also lists a 50MP autofocus front camera and promotes an optional Telephoto Extender Kit as a professional imaging accessory. Check local availability and compatibility before buying an accessory.
Samsung specifies a 200MP main camera with HDR capability in 200MP mode and a new 50MP ultrawide. The cited launch materials do not provide enough detail to describe the Fold8 Ultra’s complete rear-camera array here, so megapixel comparisons should not be treated as a full camera-system comparison. Megapixel counts alone do not establish image quality; the cited sources do not include controlled head-to-head photo or video tests.
Performance, battery and charging
The X300 uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, while the Fold8 Ultra uses Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. These are different platforms, but the listed chip names do not establish which phone is faster in everyday use. No controlled head-to-head performance tests are available in the cited product materials.

Its specification page identifies a 5,360mAh version for Austria and Hungary. Samsung lists 5,000mAh and 45W fast charging for the Fold8 Ultra. Capacity and charging ratings are specifications, not measured battery life: they do not show how long either phone lasts for a particular person or how quickly it charges in every condition.
Which one is easier to carry?
The X300 weighs 190g and measures 7.95mm thick. Samsung lists the Fold8 Ultra at 215g, with folded dimensions of 72.8 × 158.4 × 8.9mm. Opened, it measures 143.2 × 158.4 × 4.1mm, with that thickness excluding the main-screen frame. If you prioritize a conventional, lighter phone, the listed dimensions favor the X300; if you are willing to carry a heavier folded device to get the larger inner screen, the Fold8 Ultra makes that trade-off.

The available figures are not a like-for-like price comparison: vivo’s are official India store prices, while the Samsung figures below are launch prices reported by TechRadar for the US, UK and Australia. Different currencies, taxes, dates and seller terms mean they cannot establish a meaningful direct price difference.
| Model and storage | Published price | Price basis |
|---|---|---|
| vivo X300, 12GB + 256GB | ₹83,999 | India store price, inclusive of applicable local taxes |
| vivo X300, 12GB + 512GB | ₹89,999 | India store price, inclusive of applicable local taxes |
| vivo X300, 16GB + 512GB | ₹93,999 | India store price, inclusive of applicable local taxes |
| Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, 256GB | US$2,099.99 / £1,899 / AU$2,999 | Launch prices reported July 25, 2026 |
| Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, 512GB | US$2,299.99 / £2,069 / AU$3,299 | Launch prices reported July 25, 2026 |
| Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, 1TB | US$2,699.99 / £2,409 / AU$3,899 | Launch prices reported July 25, 2026 |
The X300’s 512GB prices correspond to different memory configurations; the Fold8 Ultra’s reported 512GB price does not specify a memory configuration in the cited comparison. vivo’s store showed the 12GB + 256GB listing with a “Buy now” action, while the two higher-capacity listings showed unavailable when checked. Stock and prices can change. Sources: vivo India store and TechRadar’s July 25, 2026 launch-price comparison. Samsung’s August 6, 2026 release said rollout began August 7 and would expand across 106 markets. It also notes that colors and configurations can vary by market, carrier and retailer. Check the local Samsung listing for availability rather than assuming the phone is sold with the same options everywhere. vivo likewise notes that network bands, SIM behavior, battery capacity, colors and bundle contents may be region-specific. Samsung reported that pre-orders for its new Galaxy Z lineup increased by more than 30% compared with the previous generation; this is Samsung’s figure for its own lineup, not a comparison with vivo or a measure of market share. See Samsung Newsroom India’s rollout release.
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the vivo X300 if you want a conventional, lighter phone, a specified triple rear-camera setup with a telephoto camera, or the listed faster wired and wireless charging ratings.
- Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra if opening your phone into an 8.0-inch inner display matters more than keeping a single-screen design and lower listed weight.
- Compare local prices before deciding if cost is the deciding factor. The published figures above do not use a common market or price basis.
Those are specification-based trade-offs, not a real-world winner: the cited sources do not provide controlled comparisons of camera output, speed, battery life, durability or usability.
