Which phone has the better display?
The Redmi Note 17 5G has the larger screen: 6.99 inches compared with the vivo T5 5G’s 6.83 inches. The vivo has the higher listed resolution, 2800 × 1260 versus 2396 × 1080, and 91mobiles lists its refresh rate at 144Hz; Xiaomi specifies up to 120Hz for the Redmi. A larger panel can suit reading or video, while the vivo’s higher pixel count and refresh-rate listing favor buyers prioritizing those specifications. These figures alone do not establish which screen looks better in person.

How do their cameras differ?
The vivo offers a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP front camera. Xiaomi India lists a 50MP main rear camera and an 8MP front camera for the Redmi; its India specification sheet lists one rear camera. The vivo therefore has more stated camera hardware and a higher-resolution selfie camera, but megapixel counts and camera features do not by themselves prove better photo quality.
Which has the bigger battery, and which lasts longer?
Xiaomi India lists an 8000mAh typical battery for the Redmi Note 17 5G, against 7050mAh for the vivo T5 5G. Their listed charging rates are close: 45W wired for the Redmi and 44W for the vivo. Capacity is not a runtime test, and actual endurance depends on usage and conditions.

Check the Redmi’s region before comparing specifications
Xiaomi’s regional specification pages do not agree on every detail. The India page lists an 8000mAh typical battery and an 8MP front camera, while the UK page lists a 7700mAh battery and a 16MP front camera. This comparison uses the India-market specifications, which are the relevant figures for an India purchase. Do not combine the regional figures into one global specification.

Quick Recap
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the vivo T5 5G if the higher listed display resolution and refresh rate, 32MP selfie camera, OIS-equipped main camera plus ultra-wide, or advertised IP68/IP69 ratings matter most to you.
- Choose the Redmi Note 17 5G if a larger screen and greater listed battery capacity are priorities, or if its current price remains lower for the configuration you intend to buy.
- Compare the exact listings before paying if price or software support is decisive: the available price figures are not confirmed as matching configurations, and the vivo support duration is listed by a comparison site rather than verified here against manufacturer documentation.
