Vivint’s “no-contract” option refers to month-to-month monitoring when you buy the equipment upfront—not free equipment or a guarantee that every security feature works without ongoing service. If you finance the equipment, that payment is separate from monitoring, and the financing agreement still has its own terms.
What does “no contract” mean with Vivint?
Vivint says customers who purchase equipment upfront can choose month-to-month monitoring. In its financing FAQ, the company describes the option this way: “We have month‑to‑month options for customers who prefer flexibility.” The flexibility is about the monitoring commitment; it does not remove the equipment cost or establish that every service can be canceled without notice, fees, or other account-specific obligations.
Vivint’s public package FAQ likewise describes month-to-month monitoring as available when customers pay for equipment upfront, alongside financing options. These are company statements about its offers, not a promise that identical terms or availability apply to every customer or location.

Vivint’s HomeProtect offer terms, accessed October 7, 2026, list equipment at $349.99, professional installation at $199, and monitoring at $29.99 per month, unless otherwise advertised. These are stated offer prices, not a personalized or universal quote; Vivint says fees and taxes may apply and offers may not be available in all locations.

For another monitoring option, Vivint advertises HomeProtect Pro starting at $44.99 per month, plus $5 per month for each camera. That is a starting price, not a quote for a particular home or system. The monitoring price can vary with the products and services selected.
What changes if you finance the equipment?
Financing spreads the equipment cost over time, but it does not combine the equipment bill and monitoring charge into one obligation. Vivint says financing is offered through third-party partners, requires credit approval, and involves a separate financing agreement. Qualified customers may receive 0% APR for up to 60 months, depending on the offer and partner approval; that is not a guaranteed term for every applicant.

Before accepting financing, ask for both the financing agreement and the monitoring service agreement. Confirm the financed amount, APR, payment schedule, total repayment amount, and what remains due if you end monitoring or move. The public offer descriptions do not establish the payoff or cancellation terms for an individual account.
What should you check before choosing?

| Availability | Whether the advertised offer and prices apply at your address and to the exact configuration in your quote. |
Vivint says system functionality may be limited without a Vivint services plan, including loss of remote connectivity. Do not assume that purchased sensors or other equipment will independently provide remote access or monitoring; ask which functions remain available for your specific setup.

Why the written terms matter
Vivint’s public pages describe a general month-to-month option, but they do not establish the cancellation procedure or obligations for every signed account. Get the current, account-specific service and financing agreements before committing, and request written confirmation of the cancellation notice, any remaining balance, and the features that will stop or be limited.
There is also a relevant financing-history caveat: the Federal Trade Commission records a $20 million settlement resolving FTC allegations that Vivint representatives misused credit reports to help unqualified customers obtain financing. The FTC later described payments to harmed consumers. This case concerns the allegations and settlement identified by the FTC; it does not show that every customer’s financing was affected.
