Visa says its Visa Direct stablecoin capability moved from pilot to commercial production on October 15, 2026. Inyo Global is the first production enabler, allowing eligible money transmitters, fintechs, banks and other payment businesses to prefund cross-border Visa Direct payouts with USDC in near real time, around the clock. The change affects how businesses fund payout liquidity; it does not mean every recipient will receive USDC.
What Visa launched with Inyo Global
Inyo Global has integrated Visa Direct’s USDC prefunding capability into its payments infrastructure platform. A qualifying business can send USDC to fund its Visa Direct payout account, making liquidity available for cross-border payouts without relying solely on traditional funding windows.
Inyo serves money transmitters, fintechs, banks and payment companies. Visa describes its connection as a single integration for onboarding, fraud and compliance management, payment acceptance, and domestic and international payouts across more than 180 countries. The new prefunding feature uses the same Inyo APIs that clients already use for those services.
Visa calls Inyo the first enabler in the initial commercial rollout. Availability remains subject to the customer’s eligibility, compliance requirements and geography; the announcement does not establish universal access.

How USDC prefunding works
1. The business connects through Inyo
The payment company uses Inyo’s platform and APIs to connect its operational systems to Visa Direct. Inyo provides the surrounding onboarding, compliance, fraud-management and payout infrastructure.
2. The business sends USDC as funding
Instead of supplying only fiat during a designated funding window, an eligible client sends USDC to prefund its Visa Direct payout activity. This is a treasury transaction between the business and the payout infrastructure, not a recipient-facing wallet payout.
3. Liquidity becomes available near real time
Visa and Inyo say the funding model is available around the clock and can make liquidity available near real time. That can help a business fund payout activity outside conventional banking or treasury windows, subject to the applicable operational and compliance controls.

4. Visa Direct delivers the payouts
Once the account is funded, the business continues using Visa Direct to send domestic or cross-border payouts to supported endpoints. The announcement does not publish transaction fees, settlement limits, processing volumes or a country-by-country eligibility list.
Who can use it and where
The intended users are organizations that already operate regulated or commercial payment flows, including:
- Money transmitters and remittance providers
- Fintech companies
- Banks
- Other payment businesses
Visa says Inyo’s Visa Direct connection reaches more than 180 countries. That figure describes the geographic reach of the connection, not a guarantee that USDC prefunding or every payout corridor is available in each country. A customer’s access can vary by jurisdiction, licensing, compliance review, supported payout route and other eligibility conditions.

Why Visa is adding stablecoins to the funding side
Visa’s September 2025 pilot presented stablecoin prefunding as an alternative to prefunding with fiat. The stated goals were to reduce funding friction, provide faster access to liquidity and give banks, remitters and financial institutions more flexibility in managing global payouts.

The production launch indicates that Visa’s work with partners has progressed beyond experimentation for at least one operational use case. Vira Platonova, Visa’s Global Head of Visa Direct, described the change as the point at which “the next chapter for stablecoins is adoption.”

Inyo’s co-founder and Chief Product and Technology Officer Robson Dantas said the integration gives the money transmitters, fintechs and payment companies on Inyo’s platform a funding method that is available around the clock through the APIs they already use.
USDC prefunding is different from stablecoin payouts to recipients
Visa has also described a separate 2025 pilot in which a business funds a Visa Direct payout in fiat while an eligible recipient can choose to receive a USD-backed stablecoin, such as USDC, in a compatible wallet. That pilot changes the payout option available to the recipient.
The Inyo announcement changes the funding asset used by the business before the payout is sent. The two models should not be treated as the same product.

What the published scale figures do—and do not—show
Visa has reported several figures that provide context for its broader stablecoin and Visa Direct activity. They should not be read as measurements of the Inyo launch itself.

Visa has not attributed the $800 million, the $2.5 billion annualized run rate or the 11 billion endpoint figure specifically to Inyo’s USDC prefunding service.
Questions a business should resolve before adopting it
Eligibility and compliance
Confirm whether your entity, jurisdictions, payout corridors and compliance program qualify. Stablecoin funding does not remove licensing, sanctions screening, fraud controls, know-your-customer or transaction-monitoring obligations.

Determine how USDC will be acquired, held, transferred and reconciled; who controls wallets and signing authority; and how the business handles conversion, liquidity buffers and accounting. Near-real-time availability does not eliminate the need for treasury controls.
Corridor coverage
Ask which recipient endpoints and countries are enabled for your account. The “more than 180 countries” description is a platform-level reach figure, not a promise that every corridor supports USDC prefunding.
Commercial terms
Obtain current pricing, limits, settlement rules, service-level commitments and dispute procedures directly from the relevant Visa and Inyo sales or implementation teams. The October 15 announcement does not publish those terms or a public affiliate or referral program.
