FPT says it will add a practical artificial-intelligence application assessment to entry-level recruitment requirements in 2026. The company has explained the abilities it wants to measure—using AI in real work, checking its outputs and producing measurable improvements—but has not published the test provider, format, duration, scoring, pass mark or study guide.

What FPT announced

At FPT Leader Talk 2026 at Foreign Trade University, FPT CHRO Chu Quang Huy said the company had added a practical AI application assessment for entry-level candidates starting in 2026. The wording establishes an entry-level recruitment requirement; it does not show that the same assessment is used for every experienced hire, internal transfer or other hiring route.

Huy contrasted the new requirement with the emphasis of 10 to 15 years ago, when FPT’s entry-level selection focused mainly on English proficiency, logical reasoning and general aptitude assessments. The company is now signaling that the ability to apply AI at work is an additional hiring consideration.

What the assessment is intended to measure

FPT draws a line between having tried a chatbot and being able to use AI effectively in a job. Its stated expectation is that candidates can integrate AI into workflows, improve productivity and deliver results that can be evaluated.

Three competencies FPT names

  1. Domain expertise: understanding the business or technical problem, its context and what a good answer should look like.
  2. AI fluency: asking useful questions, selecting or operating appropriate AI tools and evaluating what those tools produce.
  3. Human judgment: finding the real problem, checking outputs, recognizing risks and retaining responsibility for the final decision.

FPT’s stated distinction is that “having used AI does not necessarily mean someone can apply the technology effectively at work.” That makes the announced focus broader than prompt-writing alone. A candidate may need to show how an AI-assisted result fits a real process and how its quality and risks are controlled.

What is still unknown

No public announcement reviewed for this hiring change specifies the mechanics of the assessment. Applicants should not treat online claims about an exam structure as confirmed unless FPT publishes them.

Assessment detail Public status
Candidate scope Entry-level recruitment is stated; application to all other hiring categories is not established.
Test provider or vendor Not named.
Question and task format Not published.
Duration and software environment Not published.
Scoring method and pass threshold Not published.
Candidate volume, pass rates and hiring impact No figures published.
Official syllabus, sample questions or preparation guide Not published.

Because these points are open, it is not possible to say whether the assessment is a timed practical exercise, a scenario-based test, a tool demonstration, an interview component or a combination. FPT has also not said whether candidates may choose particular AI tools or must work in a specified environment.

How FPT’s AI-transformation framework relates to the announcement

FPT describes CASAN as a five-level AI-transformation framework:

  1. Familiarization with AI.
  2. Using AI to improve individual capability.
  3. Standardizing workflows.
  4. Automating processes.
  5. Integrating AI into the enterprise operating model.

The framework helps explain why FPT emphasizes workplace application rather than simple chatbot familiarity. It does not, however, reveal which CASAN level an entry-level candidate must demonstrate or prove that the recruitment test is scored directly against those five levels.

How applicants can prepare without a published syllabus

Preparation should target the capabilities FPT has described, not an assumed list of questions.

1. Build a documented AI-assisted workflow

Choose a task related to the role you want—such as summarizing requirements, analyzing structured information, drafting test cases or preparing a customer-support response. Record the starting method, the AI steps you used, the human checks you added and the resulting change in time, quality or consistency. Use measured results only when you can explain how they were obtained.

2. Show your verification process

For each output, check factual accuracy, completeness and suitability for the intended audience. Look for fabricated details, weak assumptions, outdated information and outputs that fail the task’s constraints. Be ready to explain what you rejected and why.

3. Practice risk and safety checks

  • Remove confidential, personal or commercially sensitive information before using an external tool.
  • Consider security threats, privacy exposure and potential bias in generated content.
  • Keep a human approval step for decisions that affect customers, employees, finances, access or safety.
  • Document the source data and assumptions behind important conclusions.

4. Pair tool fluency with subject knowledge

Learn the terminology, rules and quality standards of your target field alongside prompting and tool operation. FPT explicitly treats domain expertise, AI fluency and human judgment as a combination; a polished prompt cannot compensate for misunderstanding the underlying work.

5. Expect the target to change

FPT says AI requirements can evolve within months. Continuous learning therefore matters more than memorizing one prompt pattern or one software interface. Follow the instructions in the specific vacancy and ask the recruiter which tools, formats and accommodations apply when those details are provided.

What a separate FPT Software skills initiative does—and does not—confirm

In January 2026, FPT Software said its unified skills architecture would use a common skills language across recruitment, workforce planning, learning and delivery operations, with assessments linked to job profiles planned in a later phase. This is useful company context, but it does not establish that the new entry-level AI assessment already uses that architecture, nor does it disclose the test’s scoring or tasks.

Does FPT require an AI test for every new hire?

The public statement supports a requirement for entry-level candidates beginning in 2026. It does not establish a company-wide test for every new hire, experienced professionals or internal transfers. The applicable process may depend on the job level, business unit and vacancy instructions.

Is FPT testing prompt engineering or practical workplace use?

FPT describes practical AI application: integrating AI into workflows, improving productivity and delivering measurable results. Prompting is likely relevant as part of AI fluency, but the company’s stated competencies also require domain understanding, output evaluation and accountable human decisions.

Quick Recap

What should candidates do when applying?

  1. Read the vacancy and recruiter communications for the role’s current assessment instructions.
  2. Prepare a short portfolio of AI-assisted work examples with the task, method, checks and measurable outcome clearly separated.
  3. Practice explaining limitations, privacy safeguards and the point at which you would stop relying on an AI output.
  4. Confirm the test’s tool, timing and scoring rules with FPT when those details are issued; do not rely on unofficial sample questions.
