If you want to play as an original avatar rather than a publisher-supplied celebrity likeness, start with Dragon’s Dogma 2 for detailed face-and-body sculpting, The Sims 4 for personality and everyday identity, or Baldur’s Gate 3 for a fantasy role-playing character assembled from race, head and appearance choices. Cyberpunk 2077 gives its protagonist V a flexible appearance and lifepath, while the announced WWE 2K26 creation tools target players who want to build and share custom wrestlers.
“Fully customizable” does not mean unlimited geometry or a character made from nothing. Each game combines developer-made meshes, sliders, presets, traits and accessories. A game can also use 3D-scanned source material without forcing you to play a fixed celebrity: Baldur’s Gate 3, for example, turns scanned actor and model heads into a large modular selection.

Which game gives you the most control over your character’s face and body?
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the strongest sculpting-first choice in this group. Its official PlayStation description says you can customize both the Arisen (your main character) and the main Pawn, your recurring companion. The official Xbox listing also documents a separate Character Creator & Storage utility. You can build characters in that utility, save the data and transfer it to the base game instead of repeating the work in a new save.

The editor is still a bounded system: you move developer-provided facial and body controls rather than editing a mesh vertex by vertex. That distinction matters if your goal is an original-looking avatar, not an unlimited modelling tool. Dragon’s Dogma 2 also uses photo-scanned assets in its production pipeline, so “customizable” and “scan-free” are different claims. You are shaping a character from available components, not selecting a single celebrity protagonist.

Best for a second custom character
The main Pawn makes Dragon’s Dogma 2 unusually useful for players who want to author more than one visible identity. You control the Pawn’s appearance as well as the Arisen’s, then encounter that companion throughout the adventure. In practical terms, you can make a matched pair, a contrasting duo or a support character with a deliberately different silhouette.
What to check before buying
- Confirm that the Character Creator & Storage utility is available for your platform and that its transfer process matches your intended edition.
- Expect the final game to apply its own animation, equipment and lighting rules; an impressive editor preview is not a guarantee that every outfit displays identically.
- Decide whether you need one protagonist or two authored characters. The Pawn option is a meaningful differentiator if you care about companion identity.

The Sims 4: the best choice when identity means personality
The Sims 4 goes wider than a face editor. Electronic Arts lists controls for voice, movement, body shape, aspirations, interests, traits, scars, hairstyles and accessories. Those systems let you define how a Sim looks, sounds, moves, behaves and pursues goals. EA’s own guide summarizes the design with the line, “every Sim is an individual.”
Appearance is only one layer
A conventional RPG creator may stop after skin, hair and facial proportions. In The Sims 4, the character’s identity continues through traits and aspirations. Interests influence what a Sim wants to do; aspirations provide longer-term goals; movement and voice choices affect how that identity is expressed in ordinary scenes. Scars, hairstyles and accessories add further control over presentation without requiring a combat-focused game.

- Choose The Sims 4 if you want to create families, roommates or entire neighborhoods rather than one hero.
- Choose it when personality, routine and relationships matter as much as facial detail.
- Choose it if you want to share household concepts and character designs through a community-oriented ecosystem.
The game still uses fixed options supplied by the developer. “Every Sim is an individual” describes the combination of choices, not unlimited anatomy or an unrestricted 3D modelling system.

Baldur’s Gate 3: scanned source material, modular player characters
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a strong fit for a party-based fantasy RPG, especially if you want appearance choices tied to race and role-playing context. Larian Studios explained in 2020 that its photorealistic fantasy-race heads were based on 3D scans of actors and models, then transformed into approximately 150 unique heads.
Why scanned heads do not equal celebrity protagonists
A scan can be an ingredient in an asset library rather than a locked identity. In Baldur’s Gate 3, the player selects from race-specific heads and combines them with body options, skin tones, hair, facial details, tattoos, horns and other visual choices. The protagonist is not presented as one named actor whose face you must use. This is the key distinction for readers avoiding fixed celebrity likenesses: a scanned source can be modularized into many selectable designs.
Where its flexibility is narrower
Baldur’s Gate 3 generally asks you to choose among prepared heads and race-specific options instead of sculpting every facial measurement. If your priority is moving cheekbones, jaw width and other proportions with fine control, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the better match. If your priority is making appearance reinforce class, race, background and party role, Baldur’s Gate 3 offers the richer context.

Cyberpunk 2077 lets you customize V and combines appearance with a lifepath-based role-playing frame. CD Projekt Red’s Update 2.2 announcement, dated December 10, 2024, lists new character-customization options and specifically names a “Plain-to-Punk slider.” Because these are update-specific details, check the installed version and platform notes when you start a new character.

Why first-person perspective changes the value of customization
Cyberpunk 2077 is primarily first-person. You see V in mirrors, menus, vehicles, selected scenes and occasional third-person moments, but not continuously during ordinary exploration. That makes customization meaningful for role-playing and self-expression, yet less visually constant than in a third-person game such as Dragon’s Dogma 2 or Baldur’s Gate 3.
When it is the right pick
- Pick Cyberpunk 2077 if lifepath, dialogue and futuristic fashion are as important to you as face and body options.
- Pick it if you want a creator that has continued to receive documented post-launch additions.
- Do not pick it solely for seeing your avatar during every action scene; the camera does not provide that.
WWE 2K26: build a wrestler and share the result
WWE 2K26 is relevant for players whose ideal avatar is a wrestler rather than a conventional RPG hero. 2K’s announcement highlights deeper body and face morphing tools and says Community Creations can hold up to 2,000 images. That capacity is an announcement claim tied to the 2025/2026 edition, so verify the release status, supported platforms and final feature list for the version you intend to buy.
Creation extends beyond the face
A wrestling character is communicated through a complete presentation: body proportions, face, clothing, entrance, moveset and imagery used in shared creations. The deeper morphing tools matter if you want a distinctive silhouette, while the image limit matters if you publish many logos, renders or alternate designs.

Best for community publishing
Choose WWE 2K26 when downloading and sharing other players’ creations is part of the appeal. Its value depends more heavily on the health of the online creation ecosystem and on platform-specific restrictions than a single-player RPG creator does.

How to choose the right creator for your priorities
Choose sculpting depth
For the most hands-on face-and-body shaping in this set, begin with Dragon’s Dogma 2. WWE 2K26 is the alternative if wrestling-specific morphing, entrances and community publishing are central. Baldur’s Gate 3 is less about arbitrary facial sculpting and more about selecting a coherent fantasy head and body from a large library.
Choose personality and life simulation
The Sims 4 is the clear choice when the character must have traits, aspirations, interests, voice and movement in addition to a physical design. It supports identity as an ongoing simulation rather than as a one-time avatar screen.
Choose narrative context
Baldur’s Gate 3 connects appearance to race, class and party role. Cyberpunk 2077 connects appearance to V’s lifepath and dialogue-driven identity. Dragon’s Dogma 2 puts more emphasis on the authored look of the Arisen and Pawn inside an action adventure.

Third-person games keep the character in view during exploration and combat. Cyberpunk 2077’s first-person camera means your design appears less often, so select it for role-playing value rather than constant visual feedback.
What “fully customizable” can and cannot mean
None of these games provides unlimited character construction. Each uses a finite catalogue of meshes, sliders, presets, colors, hairstyles, clothing, traits or race-specific assets. The practical question is whether the available controls let you create a character that feels yours.
- Face and body: sliders and morphs change proportions within developer-defined limits.
- Presentation: hair, scars, tattoos, accessories, clothing and color options alter the recognizable surface.
- Identity: traits, aspirations, interests, class, race, lifepath and role-playing choices determine who the character is in the game world.
- Visibility: camera perspective determines how frequently your work appears during play.
- Persistence: creator utilities, save transfers and community systems determine whether you can reuse or publish the design.
Scanned material should be evaluated in that same framework. A developer can scan actors or models, reshape those assets and offer them as one of many heads. That process does not automatically make the player character a celebrity likeness, nor does it make the creator unlimited.
