Victrola’s Wave turntable and Soundstage soundbase are designed to make vinyl setup less intimidating: the Wave handles record playback, while the Soundstage combines a speaker and amplifier in a low-profile unit intended to sit beneath a turntable. The trade-off is a compact, consolidated layout instead of the flexibility of separate speakers—and the available vibration evidence is promising but limited to a brief trade-show demonstration.
What the Wave and Soundstage pairing does
The Wave is the turntable; the Soundstage is the speaker system. Rather than wiring a turntable to a separate amplifier and a pair of speakers, you can place the Soundstage beneath the turntable and connect the two. Victrola says Soundstage is also compatible with other turntables, so the concept is not limited to buying the two products as a set.
This is a convenience-focused arrangement, not a claim that a single soundbase will suit every room or listening preference. Its appeal is fewer separate components and a more compact setup. Separate bookshelf speakers give you more freedom to position the speakers away from the turntable, but require space for two cabinets and their connections.

What you need to know about setup and connections
Wired playback
The Wave has RCA output and a switchable phono preamp. That gives it a straightforward wired path to a system with RCA inputs, including the Soundstage, which lists RCA among its inputs. A phono preamp is needed to bring a turntable signal to a level suitable for many speaker or amplifier inputs; with the Wave, the built-in preamp can be switched on for that kind of connection. Check the destination device’s input requirements and the turntable’s preamp setting before connecting.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Bluetooth and Auracast
Victrola lists Bluetooth 5.4, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD and Auracast Broadcast Audio for the Wave. Soundstage lists Bluetooth and Auracast transmit-and-receive capability. Wireless features work only when the devices at both ends support a compatible connection mode: a format listed for the turntable does not guarantee that a particular receiving speaker supports it. Check both products’ specifications if you plan to use wireless playback, especially if you are relying on a particular codec or Auracast.
Soundstage’s other inputs and dimensions
Victrola lists RCA, 3.5 mm AUX and USB-C inputs for Soundstage, in addition to Bluetooth and Auracast functionality. Its stated dimensions are 16.9 inches wide, 15.1 inches deep and 3.5 inches tall. Measure the available shelf or table and compare it with both the soundbase and your turntable: the combined arrangement is not automatically a space-saver if the surface is too small or cable routing is awkward.

Does putting a speaker under a turntable cause vibration?
It is a reasonable concern: a turntable’s stylus reads physical movement in the record groove, so vibration reaching the turntable can affect playback. Victrola says Soundstage is designed with vibration control, but that manufacturer claim is not proof that feedback is eliminated in every room, at every volume or on every surface.
At CES 2026, TechRadar reporter Matt Bolton described vibration as barely perceptible on the Soundstage’s sides, back and top during a demonstration. He also characterized the sound as warm and somewhat bass-forward, with limited fine detail apparent in that show-floor demo. Those observations are useful as an initial impression, not a controlled test or a guarantee of performance with every turntable and setup.

Placement still matters. Use a stable, level surface, check that the turntable sits securely, and avoid assuming the soundbase will solve vibration problems caused by a flexible shelf or other unstable support. Victrola also mentions angled bookshelf-speaker stands as an accessory that can improve speaker listening angles and add vibration control for a separate-speaker arrangement.
Soundstage or separate bookshelf speakers?
Victrola’s Tempo bookshelf speakers are an alternative if you have room for a pair of speakers rather than one unit beneath the turntable. They list RCA, 3.5 mm AUX, optical and USB-C inputs, Bluetooth, Auracast receive and broadcast, and a subwoofer output. The two-speaker layout lets you place the speakers separately; Soundstage prioritizes a consolidated footprint.

What the products cost—and what the figures mean
Victrola’s January 6, 2026 announcement listed the Wave turntable at a $499 MSRP. That figure is the announced MSRP, not an assurance of today’s street price. For Soundstage, Victrola’s launch announcement stated $349.99 and Summer 2026 availability, while its live collection listing showed $329.99 when checked for this article. Because those figures differ, confirm the current price and availability on Victrola’s purchase page before ordering.

Why Victrola is emphasizing simpler vinyl systems
Victrola CEO Scott Hagen told What Hi-Fi? that the company wants to remove the sense that good-looking, good-sounding hi-fi is “hard or scary to set up.” That goal fits the Wave and Soundstage pairing: reduce the number of components and connections a new listener must manage, without requiring them to assemble a traditional separate-component system.
The appeal exists alongside continued interest in records. What Hi-Fi? reported that UK vinyl sales rose 19.9% in 2026, citing the British Phonographic Industry, and said the increase contributed to a third consecutive year of growth in physical music revenue. This is a secondary report of the UK figure, not a direct presentation of BPI dataset results, and it does not by itself establish demand in other countries.
Quick Recap
Who should consider this setup?
- Consider Wave with Soundstage if you want a turntable-and-speaker system with fewer separate pieces and have a surface large and stable enough for both.
- Consider separate bookshelf speakers if you have room to place a pair independently or want connection options such as optical input or a subwoofer output, which Victrola lists for Tempo.
- Check compatibility first if wireless playback is important: verify that the turntable and receiving speaker both support the connection method you intend to use.
- Keep expectations measured if vibration or fine sound detail is your main concern. The CES demonstration is an initial subjective impression, not a controlled comparison across rooms, surfaces, volumes or turntables.
