Verizon chief network officer Adam Koeppe reportedly plans to leave the company at the end of 2026, according to reports by SDxCentral and Light Reading published October 7 and 8. Verizon has not been cited as officially confirming his departure, and the reports do not name a successor.
What is reported about Adam Koeppe’s departure?
SDxCentral reports that Koeppe, Verizon’s senior vice president and chief network officer, intends to leave at the end of 2026. Light Reading independently reports the year-end departure and describes his Verizon career as spanning 26 years. Those are media reports, not an official company announcement.
SDxCentral says Koeppe wrote on LinkedIn that “it’s time to move on to the next chapter.” The outlet also attributes to him the remarks, “My confidence in Verizon’s future remains high,” and “The mission to build, secure, and scale the foundational networks of tomorrow matters now more than ever.” The statements express confidence in Verizon and describe the importance of its network mission; they do not give a detailed reason for his departure.
What is known—and not known—about the transition?
The reports identify the expected timing and Koeppe’s current role, but do not establish an official Verizon confirmation, name a successor, or explain in detail why he is leaving. No connection between his reported departure and other Verizon leadership changes has been established.

How does Koeppe’s report fit into Verizon’s leadership changes?
Two other leadership transitions provide context, but the available reporting does not show that they share a cause with Koeppe’s reported departure.
- October 4, 2025: Daniel Schulman became Verizon CEO, replacing Hans Vestberg. Verizon’s 2026 proxy says Vestberg remained a special adviser and board member during a transition period.
- February 5, 2026: Verizon announced that Sowmyanarayan Sampath would step down as CEO of Verizon Consumer Group, remain through the end of the first quarter to support the transition, and be succeeded on an interim basis by Alfonso Villanueva.
- October 7–8, 2026: SDxCentral and Light Reading reported that Koeppe plans to leave at year-end.
SDxCentral characterizes the broader period as a “year-long overhaul.” The dated executive changes show leadership turnover, but the available information does not establish the scale or causes of a company-wide overhaul. The characterization should not be treated as a confirmed Verizon description.
