The VANKYO Performance H500R is a budget-oriented 1080p projector with Roku TV built in. That integration is its clearest extra: for supported Roku channels, you can stream without connecting a separate device. Whether it is a good buy depends on your room and expectations, because its 330 ANSI lumens is a manufacturer claim—not an independently measured brightness result—and VANKYO’s listed price and stock information conflict with another current listing.

What the H500R actually adds

The H500R’s notable extra is built-in Roku TV, rather than a separate, undisclosed hardware feature. VANKYO says the platform provides access to apps including Netflix and YouTube. This can simplify a setup by removing the need for a separate streaming stick for supported apps. It does not mean every service is free: the manual says channel availability varies by region and channels may require payment. Roku activation requires an internet connection and a Roku account; the manual says activation itself is free. See VANKYO’s H500R product page and the user manual.

The manufacturer’s October 15, 2025 launch announcement described the H500R as a Walmart-first projector with Roku OS. That is launch context, not evidence of present-day exclusive availability or independent product testing. PR Newswire’s announcement identifies VANKYO Official as the source of the news.

VANKYO’s specifications appear on its product page. ProjectorCentral also lists 330 ANSI lumens, 1920×1080 resolution, 1500:1 contrast, TFT LCD and an LED source, and gives an October 2025 release, $198 MSRP and “Shipping” status. Its page is a product-information listing, not an independent image or brightness test: ProjectorCentral’s H500R specifications.

Streaming setup and the mirroring limitation

For Roku app playback, plan on internet access and a Roku account during activation. The manual describes activation by email or QR code and says Roku does not charge to activate. Individual channels can change, vary by region, or require payment. Roku’s general guidance for its TV smart projectors is available from Roku Support Canada.

Wireless mirroring is not a dependable substitute for using a streaming service’s Roku channel. The H500R manual says copyrighted content from Hulu, Disney+ and similar services cannot be wirelessly mirrored or cast because of copyright restrictions, and directs users to the corresponding Roku channel where available. This is the manual’s guidance; it should not be read as a universal rule for every app, region, or future service policy.

Room size, placement and brightness expectations

VANKYO advertises a 40–150-inch projection range. The manual recommends an 80-inch image at about 2.2 metres (7.22 feet) and says a dark environment improves clarity. Use those as manufacturer guidance, not proof that every room or screen size will produce the same result. In particular, the 150-inch maximum does not establish that the image will remain usefully bright at that size.

The product page lists a 1.1–3.3-metre projection distance, while the manual’s chart extends to about 4.1 metres for its largest indicated size. These figures have different source contexts, so check the manual’s size-and-distance guidance against your room rather than treating either as one universal placement range. The product page lists a 1.23:1 throw ratio at 60 inches; that value alone does not replace size-specific placement guidance.

Price and availability are not settled by the listings

As accessed October 7, 2026, VANKYO’s product page showed $199.99 and said the product would be available soon. ProjectorCentral, also accessed October 7, 2026, listed a $198 MSRP and status “Shipping.” Because those snapshots conflict, neither establishes what a buyer can pay or order now. Confirm the exact model, current selling price and stock with the retailer before purchasing.

Who should consider the H500R?

  • Consider it if: you want Roku app access integrated into a projector, can use it in a darkened room, and are comfortable evaluating an advertised brightness figure without an independent measurement in the available sources.
  • Look elsewhere if: your decision depends on verified brightness or image-quality measurements, strong performance in a bright room, or wireless mirroring of protected content from a particular service.
  • Before buying: check the real image size and throw distance your room allows, whether your streaming apps are available as Roku channels in your region, the retailer’s current stock and price, and compatibility of any mount you plan to use.

Verdict

The H500R’s clearest appeal is convenience: it combines a manufacturer-listed 1080p projector with Roku TV, so supported streaming apps do not require a separate player. Its advertised 330 ANSI lumens and 150-inch maximum image are specifications, not independent proof of performance across room conditions or screen sizes. It is a plausible option for a dark-room setup if Roku integration matters more to you than independently verified image results; the conflicting price and availability listings make checking current retail details essential.
