Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is a single-player action RPG and sequel from The Chinese Room, co-published by Paradox Interactive and White Wolf. It released on October 21, 2025. You play through two connected perspectives—Phyre, an elder vampire in modern Seattle, and Fabien, a Malkavian detective in 1920s Seattle. There is no multiplayer or co-op mode.

Paradox describes Bloodlines 2 as an action RPG. That means its core loop combines real-time action with role-playing choices rather than presenting itself as a pure shooter, a traditional turn-based RPG, or a confirmed open-world game. The publisher’s own description emphasizes vampire survival, feeding, combat, Kindred politics, and preserving the Masquerade—the secrecy that keeps vampires hidden from humanity.

Combat, feeding, and social approaches
Phyre is an elder vampire, so the fiction gives the character access to supernatural abilities as well as conventional investigation and combat. Encounters can be approached in different ways across separate playthroughs. The official FAQ specifically cites sneaking and charming one’s way through Kindred situations as alternatives to a more direct approach.
Those examples point to a choice-driven structure: players can decide when to use force, when to remain hidden, and when conversation is the better tool. The Masquerade adds a consequence to careless behavior because exposing vampiric existence threatens the wider society. The available material does not establish a universal rules list for every power, skill tree, or faction system, so those details should not be assumed from earlier games in the series.
What the game is not confirmed to be
Neither the official FAQ nor the stated premise confirms that Bloodlines 2 is an open-world RPG. It is safer to describe Seattle as the setting for a narrative action RPG with investigation, politics, and multiple approaches than to promise a seamless city map or a particular side-quest structure.

Phyre: the elder vampire in modern Seattle
Phyre awakens after centuries in torpor in present-day Seattle. A mysterious mark seals away the character’s Elder powers, turning the opening situation into both a survival problem and a mystery. Phyre must navigate Kindred politics, investigate hidden agendas, and work toward recovering those abilities while dealing with the rules that govern vampire society.

The character’s position as an elder also shapes the story’s tension. Phyre has historical knowledge and status, but the long absence means modern Seattle’s power structure is unfamiliar. The combination of sealed powers and political uncertainty gives the player an immediate reason to investigate rather than simply dominate every encounter.
Fabien: the Malkavian detective in 1920s Seattle
Fabien appears in dream sequences set in 1920s Seattle. He is a Malkavian investigating his own murder, an inherently unstable premise that links detective work with questions about identity and perception.
The publisher describes Fabien’s Malkavian perceptions as fractured. His sections deliberately complicate the boundary between reality and delusion, so they are not simply historical flashbacks that explain every event in a straightforward way. Treat them as a second perspective on the mystery, with the possibility that what Fabien experiences cannot always be taken at face value.

The narrative alternates between Phyre’s modern investigation and Fabien’s earlier case. Their stories occupy different periods but are connected by the game’s central mystery and the vampire society surrounding it. The structure lets the game contrast a contemporary struggle for power with a 1920s investigation shaped by Fabien’s unreliable perceptions.

What is the story about?
Bloodlines 2 is framed as a neo-noir murder mystery threatening Seattle’s vampire society. Phyre’s awakening, the sealed Elder powers, and the hidden agendas in modern Kindred politics form the present-day thread. Fabien’s investigation into his own murder provides the historical and psychological thread.
The central conflict is not only who committed a murder. The characters must also survive factional politics, feed without destroying the Masquerade, and determine which explanations for the supernatural events are trustworthy. That combination is why the game moves between detective fiction, political intrigue, and vampire-horror themes rather than following a single conventional quest.
Does Bloodlines 2 have multiplayer or co-op?
No. Paradox’s official FAQ states: “No, Bloodlines 2 is a single-player game and will not feature multiplayer or a co-op mode.” There is therefore no supported way to join a friend’s campaign, share a character, or run the story as a two-player experience.
Plan around a solo campaign when choosing the game. Any decisions about dialogue, stealth, feeding, and combat are made by one player, and there is no multiplayer progression or matchmaking to consider. Claims that imply a cooperative mode are inconsistent with the publisher’s explicit FAQ statement.

The listed platforms are current-generation systems and the named PC storefronts. The FAQ does not list PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or a mobile version, so do not assume a release on those systems.
How much does it cost?
Paradox’s FAQ lists $59.99/£49.99/€59.99 for the game. That is a reference figure from the FAQ, not a promise that every country, store, tax system, or sale will show the same amount. Digital storefronts can change prices, while physical copies can differ by retailer and availability.
Before paying, check the currency, whether tax is included, which edition is selected, and whether the purchase is for the correct platform. A console copy and a PC code are separate products even when their names look similar.

The FAQ’s edition descriptions distinguish cosmetic content from story content. Santa Monica Memories is described as cosmetic decor, while the Premium package adds the Expansion Pass. Digital versus physical copies
Paradox’s launch information described physical editions through PLAION for select retailers. It also described a physical Premium package with printed items and a SteelBook case. That confirms a physical-product route, but it does not establish that a particular retailer has stock now.
If you want a disc, verify the platform, region, included edition, and whether the seller is offering a new copy or a code in a box. Physical inventory can disappear even when the digital version remains available.

An earlier announcement associated some clans with Premium content, but Paradox later changed that plan. White Wolf Executive Vice President and Bloodlines 2 Executive Producer Marco Behrmann said: “Thanks to our community for the frank feedback on Bloodlines 2 and the Premium Edition. That feedback made it clear: Lasombra and Toreador belong in the base game, so that is what we are doing.” Do not buy Premium solely to unlock one of these six clans.
The available information confirms clan access, not a complete list of each clan’s disciplines, starting powers, or balance differences. Those details should be checked in the in-game documentation or current official materials rather than inferred from tabletop rules.
What are the story packs, and are they available now?
The Premium information includes an Expansion Pass. Paradox’s later announcement named two story packs, Loose Cannon and The Flower & the Flame, with release windows described as Q2 and Q3 2026.
Those windows have passed by October 2026, but the supplied official information does not confirm whether either pack is currently released in every territory or listed on every storefront. Check the store page for your platform and region for an actual release status, price, and inclusion in an Expansion Pass. Do not treat the old quarter windows as proof of present availability.
