The headline is now out of date. As of August 7, 2026, Steam Summer Sale 2026 has already finished, and Valve’s next major seasonal event is the Autumn Sale.
Valve’s official Steamworks calendar currently lists seasonal-sale dates through Summer Sale 2027. That is more useful than an old article claiming Summer Sale 2026 is still upcoming—but it is important to distinguish the four seasonal sales from Steam’s separate themed Fests.
The current Steam seasonal-sale schedule
These are the dates Valve currently publishes for its four Steam-wide seasonal sales:
| Sale | Dates | Status on August 7, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Summer Sale 2026 | June 25–July 9, 2026 | Finished |
| Autumn Sale 2026 | October 1–8, 2026 | Upcoming |
| Winter Sale 2026 | December 17, 2026–January 4, 2027 | Upcoming |
| Spring Sale 2027 | March 18–25, 2027 | Upcoming |
| Summer Sale 2027 | June 24–July 8, 2027 | Upcoming |
Summer Sale 2026 ran from June 25, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PDT through July 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. If you are reading an article that presents it as the next major Steam sale, its information is no longer current.

What is the next major Steam sale?
The next major seasonal event is the Autumn Sale 2026, running October 1–8, 2026. Valve has published the date range, although the schedule page does not provide a consumer start and end time for every future event in the same way that the Summer Sale support page published its exact PDT hours.
After Autumn Sale, the Winter Sale begins on December 17, 2026 and runs through January 4, 2027. The next Spring Sale is scheduled for March 18–25, 2027, followed by Summer Sale 2027 from June 24–July 8, 2027.
Why “every Steam sale date” is misleading
Valve runs four Steam-wide seasonal sales each year:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Spring Sale
- Summer Sale

It also schedules separate themed events, commonly called Fests. These may focus on a genre, type of game, or feature such as demos and upcoming releases. They are listed separately from the four seasonal sales on Valve’s official events documentation.

That means a list containing only Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter dates is a seasonal-sale calendar—not literally every Steam sale or promotional event. The dates can also change, so the official schedule is the right place to check before planning a purchase, launch, or promotion.
Where Valve publishes the dates
The official documentation path is:
Steamworks Documentation > Sales and Marketing > Upcoming Steam Events
Valve describes that page as the location for currently announced Steam-wide seasonal and thematic events. It is written primarily for developers and publishers, but it is also the most reliable public calendar for checking dates well ahead of time. Valve’s current page already lists dates through Summer Sale 2027, disproving the often-repeated claim that exact seasonal-sale dates are only revealed shortly before each sale.
For consumers, Valve’s Steam sale-event support page is another useful reference, particularly for the dates and hours of an active or recently completed sale.

What developers need to know about seasonal-sale discounts
The calendar matters to publishers because participating in a seasonal sale is not just a matter of choosing a percentage at the last minute.
1. Submit discounts through Discount Management
Valve instructs publishers to enter and submit discounts for each seasonal sale through the Discount Management page in Steamworks.
2. Check the 30-day release rule
A game generally must have been released at least 30 days before the event starts to participate in a seasonal sale. A title launched too close to the Autumn Sale, for example, may not qualify even if its developer wants to offer an introductory promotion.

3. Check recent discounts and price changes
Steam normally prevents a product from being discounted within 30 days of another discount. The four seasonal sales are exceptions to the ordinary 30-day discount cooldown, but other restrictions still matter. A product generally cannot be discounted:

- Within 30 days of its release
- Within 30 days after a price increase in any currency
- Within 30 days after a launch discount ends
If a cooldown expires while a seasonal sale is already running, Valve says the developer may manually enter a custom discount after the cooldown ends. This can produce a different discount window from the main event, so developers should not assume that every game is eligible for the entire sale.
4. Use at least a 20% discount for wishlist emails
A discount of 20% or more automatically triggers email notifications to players who have the game on their wishlist. A smaller discount may still reduce the price, but it does not qualify for that automatic wishlist notification under Valve’s stated rule.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How shoppers should use the schedule
- For the next major sale, wait for October 1 if the purchase is not urgent. That is the scheduled start of Autumn Sale 2026.
- Compare the sale price with the game’s price history. A seasonal event does not guarantee the lowest price a game has ever had.
- Add games to your wishlist. Steam can notify you when a qualifying discount is applied, and Valve says discounts of 20% or more trigger wishlist emails.
- Check the event type. A themed Fest may include demos, announcements, or selected discounts without being a full seasonal sale.
- Confirm the end time before waiting. Sale prices can end at the advertised time, and a cart or wishlist entry does not reserve the discounted price.
The practical correction is simple: Summer Sale 2026 is over. The next scheduled major seasonal sale is Autumn Sale 2026 on October 1–8, and Valve has already published the following seasonal dates through Summer Sale 2027.
