The VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) is Riot Games’ Tier 1 competitive circuit. In 2026 it has 48 teams in four territories—Americas, EMEA, Pacific and China—progressing from regional Kickoff and stages to Masters Santiago, Masters London and the season-ending Champions Shanghai. Use the official schedule for current fixtures and event pages for the correct broadcast links; rosters and transfers should be accepted only when backed by a dated Riot or team announcement.
What the VCT is in 2026
VCT is the top level of Riot’s VALORANT esports ecosystem, rather than a generic name for every tournament. The 2026 circuit is divided into four territories: Americas, EMEA, Pacific and China. Riot’s 2026 handbook lists 48 participating teams across those territories. Regional competition determines which teams travel to international Masters events and, later, Champions Shanghai.

The season combines league-style regional play with elimination tournaments. Because each event has its own qualification rules, a team’s position in one stage does not automatically translate into the same position in the next. Riot describes Champions Shanghai as “the final and most prestigious event of the year” in the 2026 League Handbook; that wording is Riot’s description, not an independent ranking.

How the tournament formats work
Kickoff: 12 teams and triple elimination
Kickoff is a 12-team triple-elimination event in each territory. Triple elimination gives a team more than one route back after a loss than a single-elimination bracket, but it is not the same as a double-elimination format: the exact match order, seeding and number of losses permitted are defined on the applicable event page. The key consequence is clear—three teams per territory earn Masters Santiago places.
Stage 1: two groups, round robin and playoffs
Riot’s handbook describes Stage 1 in each international league as a five-week competition with two groups of six teams. Teams play a best-of-three single round robin inside their group, so each team faces every other team in its group once. Group results feed a playoff bracket. The top three playoff teams from each league qualify for Masters London.

Do not reuse the Kickoff description for Stage 1. Stage 1 is group-based and uses best-of-three series; its standings and playoff qualification are separate from the 12-team triple-elimination Kickoff structure.
Stage 2: Play-Ins, Challengers and the route to Champions
The Stage 2 overview adds Challenger teams through Play-Ins and then uses playoffs to determine who continues toward Champions Shanghai. The handbook also refers to Championship Points as a qualification route. A Play-In is not a guarantee that every Challenger team enters the main playoff bracket; the region’s event rules specify who advances, seeding and match order.
Because Stage 2 details can vary by territory and event, check the regional page before explaining a bracket. The season handbook is an overview, while the event rules control the precise field, dates and qualification thresholds.

Masters and Champions: international events
Masters Santiago and Masters London are international tournaments fed by regional results. Champions Shanghai is the final event in the 2026 sequence. Riot’s published event information does not establish one universal bracket or match-length template for every international event, so do not assume that a format used at one Masters applies to another. Read the event page for its draw, elimination rules, series lengths and tiebreakers.
Which teams and players are in VCT?
There are 48 VCT teams across the four territories in 2026, but a team count is not a current five-player roster. Organizations can announce signings, bench players, loan arrangements or emergency substitutions after a handbook is published. Event participation proves that a team is entered; it does not, by itself, prove which five players will start a particular match.
How to verify a roster or transfer
- Find a dated announcement from Riot or the team’s official channels. A social-media rumor, tournament graphic or database entry is not equivalent evidence.
- Identify what the announcement actually says: signing, trade, loan, promotion, substitute designation or release. These terms have different competitive implications.
- Check the effective date and any roster-lock language. A player can be announced before becoming eligible for the next event, or remain under contract without appearing in the starting lineup.
- Compare the announcement with the event’s published team page or match lineup immediately before the series. Treat the active lineup as event-specific.
- If no dated primary announcement confirms the move, label it unconfirmed instead of filling the gap from memory.
No single official source provides a complete player-transfer ledger for all four territories through October 13, 2026. A responsible roster guide therefore names individual moves only when each move has its own dated Riot or team source and clearly separates an announced transaction from an active lineup.

Where to watch VCT matches
Official online broadcasts are free to follow through the event’s designated channels. Riot’s VCT Americas Stage 1 guide identifies Twitch and YouTube broadcasts in English, Spanish and Portuguese and directs viewers to valorantesports.com for current days and times.
| Viewing need | Best starting point | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Any current VCT match | Official schedule and its linked event page | Start time, region, stream language and whether the listing is a live or replay broadcast. |
| Americas broadcast | Riot’s official Twitch or YouTube feed | English, Spanish or Portuguese audio and the broadcast window shown in the Americas guide. |
| Other territories | The specific EMEA, Pacific or China event page | Regional channel, language, local time and any territory-specific viewing instructions. |
| Co-stream or watch party | The event page’s authorized creator list or rules | Permission requirements. Eligibility differs by region and whether the event is global. |
Riot maintains official VALORANT Esports channels on Twitch and YouTube, but the channel alone does not tell you which language or event feed is active. Open the match listing first, then follow its stream link. The Barcelona Finals viewing guide, for example, allowed the official broadcast or an on-site co-streamer for that event; that historical rule should not be generalized to every VCT match.
Using the schedule without missing a match
- Open the official schedule and select the territory or event rather than relying on a search-result date.
- Open the individual match card to see the current local start time and broadcast destination.
- Check the card again on match day for delays, bracket changes or a stream-language switch.
- For a replay, use the event page’s video destination instead of assuming the live link remains active.
What changes in 2027?
Riot has announced a planned structural change beginning in 2027, but not every operational detail is settled. The April 8, 2026 announcement says the VCT is planned to move to a tournament model with open qualification, two Cups per territory each year and a unified tier. The Cups are intended to replace regular-season league play and qualify teams directly to Masters and Champions.

Riot has not yet published the complete regional calendars, slot allocations or locations in that announcement. Those items should be described as forthcoming, not as fixed rules. Riot summarized the design goal with the sentence “Every match should carry weight.” That is a stated principle for the planned 2027 circuit, not evidence that every qualification mechanism is already known.
The same announcement says more than $86 million was shared with VCT teams from digital goods in 2025. This is a figure for the previous calendar year, not a 2026 payout total, and it refers to in-game digital goods such as team capsules rather than a requirement for viewers to purchase merchandise.
Common points of confusion
Is every VALORANT tournament part of VCT?
No. VCT is Riot’s Tier 1 circuit. Challengers and other competitions can feed into VCT events or provide development opportunities, but their inclusion does not make every tournament a VCT league match.
Does a handbook list prove a player is starting?
No. A handbook or event page establishes participation and competition structure. Starting status and transfer timing require a dated roster announcement or the event’s current lineup information.
Can I use an old bracket graphic to explain this season?
Only if it matches the specific 2026 event. Kickoff’s triple-elimination format, Stage 1’s two-group round robin and Stage 2’s Play-Ins are different structures. Link to the current handbook and event page whenever the bracket matters.
Why does the listed time differ from my calendar?
The official schedule may display local times and can update fixtures. Use the time on the match card in your own region immediately before the broadcast; a copied time can become stale after a reschedule.
