Valor Mortis needs a modern gaming PC, not integrated graphics. The current Steam listing calls for Windows 10 or 11, 16 GB of RAM, a Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i5-10600K at minimum, and a Radeon RX 5600 XT or GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. Its recommended tier rises to a Ryzen 7 5800X or Core i5-13400 with a Radeon RX 6800 or GeForce RTX 3070. An SSD with 60 GB available space is specified, and the store describes the targets as 30 frames per second at 1080p Low or 60 fps at 1440p Medium, both with upscaling.
Current Valor Mortis requirements at a glance
The table below follows the live Steam store listing, which is the most current published specification identified for the game. Steam presents these as target configurations, not as independent benchmark results or a promise that every computer with the same parts will perform identically.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 or Windows 11 | Windows 10 or Windows 11 |
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i5-10600K | AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or Intel Core i5-13400 |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics card | AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti | AMD Radeon RX 6800 or Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 60 GB available; SSD required | 60 GB available; SSD required |
| Store-listed performance target | 30 fps at 1080p, Low, with upscaling | 60 fps at 1440p, Medium, with upscaling |
The listing does not identify a required NVMe interface, a particular SSD form factor, or a separate laptop-GPU list. It also does not provide a conversion chart for hardware that is not named. Treat a laptop part number, an older graphics card, or an integrated GPU as a separate compatibility question rather than assuming it belongs to one of these tiers.

This is a discrete-GPU baseline
The minimum graphics choices are the Radeon RX 5600 XT and GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. Both are dedicated desktop-class cards, so the minimum is not aimed at Intel UHD graphics, basic Radeon integrated graphics, or a low-power office notebook. A computer can meet the CPU and memory numbers yet still miss the practical graphics requirement if it relies on integrated video.

The stated workload is modest, but specific
Steam associates the minimum configuration with 1080p output, Low quality, upscaling enabled, and a 30-fps target. That combination matters: lowering resolution or quality can reduce GPU load, while upscaling renders internally at a lower resolution and reconstructs the final image. The listing does not name a particular upscaling technology, so do not assume that a specific vendor feature will be available.
Sixteen gigabytes is the floor and the recommendation
Both tiers list 16 GB of system memory. That simplifies the decision for owners who already have 16 GB: a memory upgrade is not the first distinction between the two targets. However, the requirement describes total installed RAM, not how many modules are used or how much remains free while other applications are open. Close browsers, recording software, launchers, and overlays if a 16 GB system is experiencing stutter.
What the recommended tier adds
A stronger processor for higher consistency
The recommended CPUs move to the Ryzen 7 5800X or Core i5-13400. Compared with the minimum processors, this is a newer and faster class intended to support the 1440p Medium target while keeping frame delivery steadier in CPU-heavy scenes. A faster processor cannot compensate for a graphics card below the listed minimum, but it can prevent a powerful GPU from waiting on the game engine.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
A substantially higher graphics class
The recommended cards are the Radeon RX 6800 and GeForce RTX 3070. They are a considerable step above the minimum pair and are the main reason the target increases from 1080p at 30 fps to 1440p at 60 fps. The store still specifies upscaling at this level, so 1440p Medium should not be interpreted as native-resolution rendering with every visual option maximized.

Recommended does not mean maximum settings
Steam labels the recommended result as 60 fps at 1440p on Medium. It does not claim 4K, Ultra settings, ray tracing, or a locked 60 fps in every scene. If your goal is a higher refresh rate, higher resolution, or maximum visual quality, you will need to test settings after launch rather than treating the recommended column as a guarantee.
Why you may see a different requirements table
Older English-language Steam and AMD materials published a more demanding table. That earlier information listed Windows 11, 50 GB of storage, a Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-11700 minimum CPU, and a Radeon RX 6700 or GeForce RTX 2070 Super minimum GPU. Its recommended tier listed a Ryzen 7 7700 or Core i7-13700 and a Radeon RX 7900 GRE or GeForce RTX 4070.
| Component | Earlier minimum table | Earlier recommended table |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 11 | Not stated in the cited earlier material |
| Storage | 50 GB | Not stated in the cited earlier material |
| Processor | Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-11700 | Ryzen 7 7700 or Core i7-13700 |
| Graphics | Radeon RX 6700 or GeForce RTX 2070 Super | Radeon RX 7900 GRE or GeForce RTX 4070 |
Those figures should be treated as superseded demo-era information, not blended with the current table. In a Steam Community response dated 10 June 2026, a developer account said the earlier specification was subject to change. The live Steam listing now uses Windows 10/11, 60 GB, lower named CPU and GPU tiers, and explicit resolution and frame-rate targets. Requirements can still change before or after release, so check the store page again when installing a new build or major update.
How to compare your PC with the listing
Use the following checks before buying or downloading. Compare each category independently; passing one component does not make up for failing another.

- SMART THERMAL CONTROL: Samsung's own nickel-coated controller delivers effective thermal control; With its slim size, 990 PRO is a perfect fit for desktops and laptops that meet the PCI-SIG D8 standard***
- THE CHAMPION MAKER: Up to 65% improvement in random performance enables faster loads for an ultimate gaming experience on PS5 and DirectStorage PC games****
- SAMSUNG MAGICIAN SOFTWARE: Get the most out of your SSD with Samsung Magician's advanced yet intuitive optimization tools; Monitor drive health, protect valuable data, and receive important updates for your 990 PRO
- Identify Windows. Open Settings > System > About and read Windows specifications. Windows 10 and Windows 11 are the versions named by the current listing. Install pending feature and security updates, then restart before troubleshooting a launch problem.
- Check the processor. In the same About page, read Processor. You can also press
Ctrl+Shift+Esc, choose Performance, and select CPU. Record the exact model, not just the brand or clock speed, because the requirement is model-specific. - Check installed memory. Settings > System > About shows installed RAM. Task Manager’s Performance > Memory view shows the amount available while programs are running. A machine advertised with 16 GB can have less usable memory if the operating system or integrated graphics reserves part of it.
- Identify the active graphics card. In Task Manager, open Performance and inspect each GPU entry. On systems with both integrated and discrete graphics, confirm which adapter the game will use. The model should be compared with the named Radeon or GeForce class, not with a generic label such as “graphics chipset.”
- Confirm DirectX. Press
Windows+R, enterdxdiag, and pressEnter. The System tab reports the DirectX version. The listing specifies DirectX 12; updating Windows and the graphics driver is the normal remedy when the diagnostic tool reports an older version. - Verify the drive and free space. Open File Explorer > This PC and check the destination drive’s free capacity. To identify its media type, open Defragment and Optimize Drives; Windows labels the drive as a solid-state drive or hard disk drive. The game listing calls for an SSD and 60 GB available, so a hard disk with enough capacity is not equivalent.
- Compare to the target column. If every item reaches the minimum column, use 1080p Low with upscaling as the sensible starting point. If the CPU and GPU match the recommended column, begin with the 1440p Medium preset and adjust from there. Hardware between the named models has no official conversion rule in the listing.
CPU, GPU and laptop compatibility details
Model names matter more than generation labels
“Ryzen 5,” “Core i5,” “Radeon,” and “GeForce” cover many generations and performance levels. A newer-sounding family name is not proof of equivalence, and a higher advertised boost clock is not a substitute for the exact model comparison. Use the full model number from Windows or the manufacturer’s specification page.
Mobile graphics are not automatically desktop equivalents
The store provides no separate laptop requirements and no mapping for mobile versions. Laptop GPUs can use different power limits and memory configurations even when the name resembles a desktop card. Compare independent performance data for the exact laptop model, keep the system plugged in, select the manufacturer’s performance mode, and use the discrete GPU rather than battery-saving integrated graphics.
Upscaling can change the practical result
Because both store targets include upscaling, the achieved image quality and frame rate will depend on the game’s implementation and preset. Use the game’s own display menu to select an available upscaler and adjust its quality mode. If the image looks soft or shimmering, try a higher-quality mode or reduce another GPU-heavy option instead of assuming the card is defective.
Storage, DirectX and operating-system pitfalls
SSD capacity is not the same as free capacity
The 60 GB figure is available space, not the drive’s advertised size. Check the free-space number on the partition where the game will be installed. Leave room for downloads, patches, shader caches, and the operating system; an installation that barely fits can fail during an update even when the original download succeeds.

Do not infer an NVMe requirement
The published requirement says SSD and does not distinguish SATA from NVMe. A compatible SATA SSD therefore fits the stated storage class, although load times can vary by drive, controller, thermals, and background activity. No particular brand, interface, or form factor is specified.
DirectX errors often indicate software problems
If dxdiag reports DirectX 12 but the game shows a graphics API error, update the GPU driver from the card maker, install Windows updates, and reboot. Verify the game’s files in the launcher before replacing hardware. A DirectX 12 label alone does not guarantee that an old driver exposes every feature the game uses.
Choosing an upgrade path
| Your situation | Most useful next step | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Below 16 GB RAM, but the CPU and GPU meet minimum | Install enough compatible memory to reach 16 GB | The minimum and recommended tables both specify 16 GB, so more memory is the direct shortfall. |
| Integrated graphics or a card below the minimum GPU class | Plan a discrete-GPU upgrade before tuning settings | Low presets and upscaling cannot turn an unsupported graphics tier into the listed baseline. |
| Minimum-class GPU with a recommended-class CPU | Use 1080p Low first; upgrade the GPU for higher targets | The graphics processor is the limiting component for the store’s 1440p target. |
| Recommended-class GPU but an older or weaker CPU | Check frame-time consistency after reducing background tasks | A fast GPU can be held back by CPU-heavy scenes even when average frame rate looks adequate. |
| Game installed on a hard disk | Move it to an SSD with sufficient free space | The published storage class is SSD, regardless of whether the hard disk has enough capacity. |
Upgrade one limiting category at a time and recheck the exact model after installation. Firmware, power supply capacity, cooling, motherboard support, and physical clearance can determine whether a component upgrade is practical, but none of those details is specified by the game listing.

Start with the target associated with your hardware rather than jumping directly to a high preset. On a minimum-class system, select 1920×1080, Low, and the available upscaling option, then watch frame rate and frame-time behavior in a representative area. On a recommended-class system, start at 2560×1440, Medium, with upscaling. Cap the frame rate to a value your system can sustain if uneven frame delivery is distracting.

These are store-listed targets, not laboratory measurements. They do not establish performance in every level, during combat effects, in crowded scenes, or after future patches. A monitor’s refresh rate also does not create extra performance: a 144 Hz display can show 144 frames only if the game and hardware produce them consistently.
Game and release context
Steam describes Valor Mortis as a first-person Souls-like from One More Level, co-published by One More Level and Lyrical Games. The listing identifies 13 October 2026 as the planned release date. Because release timing and technical requirements can change, use the live store entry as the authority when the game is available and recheck it after major updates.
Bottom line for buyers
Plan around a discrete graphics card, 16 GB of RAM, Windows 10 or 11, DirectX 12, and an SSD with 60 GB free. The current minimum target is 1080p Low at 30 fps with upscaling; the recommended target is 1440p Medium at 60 fps with upscaling. If your hardware falls between the named models, the listing offers no official equivalence, so begin conservatively and evaluate the exact laptop or desktop configuration rather than relying on a family name. Ignore the older 50 GB and higher-tier table when comparing against the current Steam page, but expect the requirements to remain subject to change.
