Fallen Village is Chapter 3, “Rendezvous,” and its collectible route is organized around the Fields, Marketplace, and Orchard. There is no confirmed official in-game map image in the available material; an unofficial progression reference says Valor Mortis has no map, so the safest way to navigate is by Lanterns, named buildings, enemy positions, and landmarks.
This guide follows the chapter route documented by PowerPyx on October 13, 2026. It covers every listed Amber, Ferrofluid upgrade, weapon, quest item, shortcut, key, and chest in the chapter, including the Iron Marshall approach and the cleanup route after the boss.
How to read the Fallen Village route
Fallen Village is not presented as one compact arena. The chapter’s route bends between Lanterns, fields, houses, barns, waterways, and underground passages. When a direction says “return,” use the nearest Lantern or the last named landmark rather than trying to follow a compass heading.

- Fields: the Scarecrow side quest, the large-house shortcut, two Ambers, a Ferrofluid flask upgrade, and the Blunderbuss.
- Marketplace: the Lullaby side quest, two more Ambers, another flask upgrade, the Storage Key, and the route to the plague-wall weak point.
- Orchard and the onward route: Amber #15 after the Iron Marshall and Empty Ferrofluid Flask #2 after the second grapple-accessible plague pillar.
Lanterns are the useful navigation anchors. The unofficial Valor Mortis Guide & Wiki describes them as rest, fast-travel, and Catalyst-spending points; fast travel becomes available after Chapter 2 according to PowerPyx’s whole-game guide. Treat the Lantern and Catalyst details as secondary-source context rather than a developer-published map or system specification.
Before entering Fallen Village
There is an optional detour connected to the first Battlefield Lantern. If you want the chapter’s approach-area items before committing to the village route, pass the camp, take the left branch at the enemy split, shoot the weak wall, and defeat the Eternal Guardian. The reward is the Mysterious Stone Pyramid and Valen Duroc’s Emblem.
Behind the enemy in that same detour is a chest containing Amber #10, Duellist’s Focus. This pickup is easy to miss because it sits behind the optional encounter rather than on the direct village path.
At the Abandoned Church, Rapier #3 is required for progress. It is lodged in the body blocking the route toward the Village. If the route appears closed at the church, retrieve the rapier before searching for another entrance.
Fields: Scarecrow quest, shortcut, and first village pickups
Start “The Scarecrow” correctly
From the Fields Lantern, approach the body tied to the scarecrow post. Interact with it more than once. The first interaction starts the quest, while the additional interaction reveals the two requested items. If the objective does not update, speak to the body again before leaving the post.
Walk in the direction of the barn. At the path split, take the right-hand route toward the large tree. The Lover’s Pendant is on the body at the tree’s base. Pick it up before pushing deeper into the fields; it is one half of the Scarecrow delivery.
Use the large-house route as your shortcut
Continue until you reach the split with a wooden gate and a Grenadier on the right. Take the opposite route, toward the large house. Beside the well is a chest containing Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade #3.

This is more than a chest detour: the large-house route is the chapter’s shortcut back to the previous Lantern. Open and remember the connection before moving on. If you later need to return to the Fields Lantern, the house-and-well approach is faster than retracing the enemy-filled outer path.
Get the Letter with a Drawing
Pass the tall haystacks and the four human enemies that attack along the route. On the left side of the uphill section is a house. Enter it, go upstairs, and take the “Letter with a Drawing” from the table.
The downstairs door leads back near the chest beside the well. That door is why the large-house path functions as a loop and shortcut rather than a one-way climb. Use it to return to the scarecrow after collecting the letter.
Complete the Scarecrow quest and claim both Ambers
Return to the scarecrow post and give it the Lover’s Pendant and the Letter with a Drawing. Continue into the next field. In the barn filled with exploding bodies, search the rear chest for Amber #11, Volatile End.

Climb to the barn’s top level and interact with the two pillows. That interaction completes “The Scarecrow” and awards Amber #12, Bountiful Harvest. The quest completion is tied to the pillow interaction; simply collecting the pendant and letter is not enough.
Open the carriage route with the Blunderbuss
Defeat the Volunteer carrying the large sword. Behind that enemy is a carriage. Collect Weapon #4, Blunderbuss, from the table inside it. Picking up the weapon opens the route through the carriage, so if the path appears blocked after the fight, check the table rather than searching for a hidden lever.
Marketplace: Lullaby, chests, and the plague wall
Start Lullaby at the empty crib
At the Marketplace Lantern, head toward the water and the distant flames. Enter the house and approach the empty crib to start “Lullaby.” Leave through the back door and take the Weathered Key from the ground near the enemies outside.

The key is not used in the crib house. Keep it for the locked house across the river, which is reached from the previous area.

Move back toward the prior area. After the Volunteer, turn right and cross the river by jumping to the house at the end of the path. Use the Weathered Key on the door and take the Toy from the bed.
Return to the house with the crib and place the Toy there. Completing Lullaby awards Amber #13, Tomorrow’s Promise. If the quest remains incomplete, confirm that the Toy came from the key-opened house rather than from another bed or container.
Collect the Marketplace Flask upgrade
Continue into the open village area where enemies patrol. Take the first left to a corner house. The chest inside contains Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade #4.
This chest is on the first-left corner route, not in the house under fire described in the next step. Keeping those two buildings separate makes the Marketplace loop easier to retrace.

Enter the house that is under enemy fire. Climb to the upper floor and jump from the balcony to the chest outside. It contains Amber #14, Warrior’s Fury.
The balcony jump is intentional; looking only for a staircase or ground-level door will not reveal the chest. Clear enough space to make the jump safely, then use the balcony position to orient yourself toward the rear ladder.

Use the Storage Key to expose the plague-wall weak point
Behind the same house, descend the ladder into the underground area. Near two enemies, on top of a box, is the Storage Key. Pick it up and use it on the nearby door.
The opened room provides access to the weak point needed to clear the plague wall. The key is therefore a progression item, not an optional chest key. If the plague wall still blocks the route, return underground and check the locked door beside the key’s pickup area.
PowerPyx places the Iron Marshall encounter after this Marketplace progression. Finish the plague-wall sequence before assuming the boss arena is missing or inaccessible.
Iron Marshall, Orchard, and the next chest
Collect Amber #15 after the boss
After defeating the Iron Marshall, enter the building to the right of the arena as you face the area from the approach. Break the boxes inside and drop out through the back. The chest there contains Amber #15, Glass Soldier.
This chest is a post-boss pickup. Do not search for it in the arena itself or treat it as one of the Marketplace chests.
Find Empty Ferrofluid Flask #2 on the onward route
Separately, after grappling across the water near the Marketplace Lantern, continue past the two plague pillars with grapple points. Immediately after the second pillar, check the right side for a chest containing Empty Ferrofluid Flask #2.
This is a navigation pickup on the route onward, not an Orchard boss reward. Keeping that distinction in mind prevents a common search error: returning to the Iron Marshall arena when the flask is actually beyond the second grapple pillar.

What “map” means in Valor Mortis
The available progression reference says Valor Mortis has no in-game map. That is an unofficial guide statement, not a confirmed developer announcement. In practice, navigation works like a landmark route:
- Lanterns mark rest and fast-travel points.
- Named structures—the scarecrow post, barn, large house, crib house, river house, and Iron Marshall arena—replace map labels.
- Enemy placements identify junctions, such as the Grenadier beside the wooden gate or the two enemies near the Storage Key.
- Traversal prompts—grapple points, balcony jumps, ladders, and weak walls—signal optional loops and progression gates.
When you lose your bearings, return to the last Lantern, identify the nearest named landmark, and follow the route in the order above. The large-house shortcut is particularly valuable because it reconnects the Fields to the previous Lantern instead of forcing a full backtrack.
Whole-game collectible context
PowerPyx’s whole-game guide, published October 13, 2026, counts 89 collectible locations: 55 Amber, six max-level Upgrade Materials, 21 Ferrofluid Power Upgrades, and seven Ferrofluid Quantity Upgrades. It also lists 20 side quests. These are guide-published totals, not developer- or publisher-published statistics.
The same guide reports 28 unique Ambers, with 15 capable of being upgraded to level 3 through duplicate copies. Amber effects can include health regeneration and bonuses triggered by actions such as dodging or parrying. The Ambersmith achievement requires obtaining each unique Amber at least once; it does not require every possible upgrade level.
PowerPyx structures the campaign as 11 main quests across 10 regions. Lantern fast travel is available after Chapter 2, which makes later cleanup more practical than attempting a perfect first pass through every branch.
Missed collectibles, death, and cleanup planning
According to PowerPyx’s whole-game guide, missed items remain collectible in prior areas after the final boss. That means a missed Fields chest or a forgotten side-quest reward does not automatically require a new playthrough. Use the chapter’s Lantern connections to revisit the relevant landmark and finish the interaction you skipped.
The unofficial progression reference describes Catalysts as resources earned from kills and chests and spent at Lanterns to raise stats. It also says unspent Catalysts drop when you die and are permanently lost if you die again before recovering them. Because that rule comes from a secondary source, treat it as the practical expectation and recover a death-drop before taking a second risky route.

Common stuck points and fixes
- The Scarecrow does not reveal an objective: interact with the body more than once; the additional interaction provides the requested-item details.
- The Scarecrow quest will not complete: confirm that both the Lover’s Pendant and Letter with a Drawing were delivered, then interact with the two pillows on the barn’s top level.
- You cannot find the Fields shortcut: at the split with the Grenadier and wooden gate, take the opposite branch toward the large house and well.
- Lullaby is still open after finding the key: use the Weathered Key at the river house, take the Toy from the bed, and place it in the crib house.
- The plague wall remains intact: search the underground area behind the balcony house for the Storage Key, then open the nearby locked door to reach the weak point.
- Amber #15 is missing: defeat the Iron Marshall first, then search the building to the arena’s right, break the boxes, and drop out the back.
- Empty Ferrofluid Flask #2 is missing: leave the arena route, grapple across the water near the Marketplace Lantern, pass both plague pillars, and check right after the second.
Recommended completion order
- Finish the optional Battlefield Lantern detour if you want Amber #10 and the emblem items before entering the village.
- Take Rapier #3 from the Abandoned Church to open the route toward Fallen Village.
- At the Fields Lantern, start the Scarecrow quest, collect the Lover’s Pendant, open the large-house shortcut, and take the well-side upgrade.
- Collect the Letter with a Drawing, return it with the pendant, then clear the barn pillows for the quest reward.
- Defeat the large-sword Volunteer, take the Blunderbuss, and use the carriage route.
- Start Lullaby at the Marketplace crib, take the Weathered Key, retrieve the Toy from the river house, and return it to the crib.
- Loot both Marketplace houses, retrieve the Storage Key underground, and clear the plague wall.
- Defeat the Iron Marshall, collect Amber #15 from the building behind the arena, and continue to the second grapple pillar for Empty Ferrofluid Flask #2.
