What kind of game is Valor Mortis?
Valor Mortis is a first-person Soulslike set in a supernatural reimagining of Napoleonic-era Europe. You play William, a soldier from Napoleon’s Grande Armée who has been resurrected. The publisher’s September 30 gameplay overview describes stamina-based fights, parrying and counterattacks, period weapons, supernatural abilities, and interconnected exploration. These are publisher descriptions, not independent review findings.
Combat, weapons, and abilities
The announced combat system centers on light and heavy attacks, stamina management, parrying, and counterattacks. The publisher has shown weapons including a Claymore and Musket, and says different weapons suit different enemies. William can also use left-hand Transmutations to strengthen himself, harm or weaken enemies, and navigate the environment. Examples named by the publisher include Fire, Shield, and Grapple.
