V Rising’s blood system has two linked parts: the blood type you obtain by feeding determines your passive build, while the victim’s blood quality determines how many tiers of that build are active. Blood drains continuously, so feeding is both a healing action and a temporary character specialization. A Blood Moon does not give you a new type; it temporarily strengthens whichever type you are already using.
The practical thresholds are 1%, 30%, 60%, 90% and exactly 100% quality. The first four unlock progressively stronger tiers, while a perfect victim unlocks Tier V. During a Blood Moon, you receive 20% Blood Efficiency and 10% movement speed under the documented default rules. Those bonuses amplify your current blood build and raise its effect cap rather than replacing it.

Blood is a continuously draining resource shown in your character interface. Feeding on a living victim refills the pool, changes your active blood type to that victim’s type and applies the victim’s blood quality. If the pool reaches zero, you lose health and can eventually die, so blood management matters even when you are not fighting.
Feeding changes your current build
Every victim belongs to a blood type. When you feed, the victim’s type replaces the one you were using. Blood is therefore temporary: you can switch from a gathering-oriented build to a combat build simply by feeding on a different target. The replacement is immediate, so check the victim’s type and quality before starting a fight if you need to preserve a particular setup.

Quality controls active tiers
Blood quality is the percentage displayed for the victim. It controls how many of that type’s five passive bonus tiers are active. The thresholds are:

| Exactly 100% | Tier V | The final effect is unlocked and enhances the other effects. |
A victim at 29% does not grant Tier II, while a victim at 90% reaches Tier IV. Tier V is more restrictive because it requires a perfect 100% victim rather than merely crossing a lower threshold.

The six commonly documented types are Creature, Worker, Brute, Rogue, Scholar and Warrior. Their exact numerical bonuses can change with game versions, so use the in-game tooltip as the authority for the values on your server. The role comparison below is intended for choosing a type, not as a patch-independent stat sheet.

Creature blood
Creature blood supports movement and survivability. It is a practical travel type when you are crossing the map, scouting dangerous areas or trying to survive environmental and enemy pressure. It is usually less attractive for a dedicated resource run or a spell-only combat setup, because those activities benefit more directly from Worker or Scholar effects.
Worker blood
Worker blood is built around gathering and resource damage. Use it before a planned material expedition rather than treating it as a general combat type. Its value is greatest when the trip contains enough harvesting, mining or chopping to offset the opportunity cost of giving up a combat-focused blood type.

Brute blood
Brute blood favors sustain and melee pressure. It suits players who remain close to targets and want their attacks and survivability to reinforce each other. Its benefits are most noticeable in extended engagements, where maintaining health and pressure matters more than a single burst window.
Rogue blood
Rogue blood emphasizes critical hits and mobility. It is a natural choice for aggressive movement, hit-and-run attacks and builds that convert positioning into damage. If your fight plan depends on repeated repositioning or critical-hit opportunities, Rogue quality is generally more important than a low-quality type with a nominally different role.
Scholar blood
Scholar blood is the spell-casting option. Select it when your damage, control or survivability comes primarily from spells rather than physical weapon attacks. Because its effects are tied to casting, the quality threshold that unlocks a specific spell-related tier can matter more than the victim’s raw percentage beyond that threshold.
Warrior blood
Warrior blood supports physical weapon damage and defense. It fits straightforward weapon combat and encounters where absorbing punishment is as important as dealing it. It is distinct from Brute blood: Brute is oriented toward sustain and melee pressure, while Warrior is the more direct physical-damage and defense choice.
How the Blood Moon works
The Blood Moon is a nighttime event that occurs on an 18-day cycle. During its night, players receive two global benefits: 20% Blood Efficiency and 10% movement speed under the documented default settings.

Blood Efficiency strengthens the type you already have
Blood Efficiency amplifies the effects of your active blood type and increases the maximum cap of those blood effects by an equal amount. In practical terms, the event improves the build you are currently running. It does not select Creature, Worker, Brute, Rogue, Scholar or Warrior for you, and it does not reroll your victim’s quality.
Feed on the type you want before taking advantage of the event. A Blood Moon spent with Worker blood favors gathering, while one spent with Scholar blood favors a spell build. If you enter the night with an unsuitable type, the event’s amplification applies to that unsuitable build until you feed again.
The movement bonus is separate
The 10% movement-speed bonus applies during the event and is useful for travel, chasing, escaping and repositioning. It does not turn a combat type into a gathering type or a spell type into a weapon type; it is an additional event-wide benefit alongside Blood Efficiency.
Server settings can change the strength
Server owners can adjust the event with the BloodMoonBuff setting. The documented default is 0.2, representing 20%, and the supported range is 0.0 to 0.9. A server using another value will not match the default Blood Efficiency bonus, so confirm the setting before comparing results between private servers.

How to identify and preserve high-quality blood
Unlock Blood Hunger
Blood Hunger reveals a victim’s blood type and percentage above that victim. It becomes available after you defeat Tristan the Vampire Hunter. Before that point, you cannot use the same reliable identification workflow, so avoid assuming that an unidentified target has the quality you need.

Use prison cells after Vincent
After defeating Vincent the Frostbringer, prison cells allow high-quality human victims to be held. This gives you a way to preserve suitable humans and collect their blood later instead of relying on whatever victim happens to appear during a trip.
A cell is most useful when the victim’s type matches a recurring role in your routine. Keep a combat type for difficult encounters, a Worker victim for resource sessions and any other type that supports a build you use often. The key distinction is preservation: a stored victim can be available when the right activity begins, whereas feeding on a random target can replace your current type with an unwanted one.
Is 100% blood worth saving?
Usually, yes, but not automatically. A 100% victim is the only way to reach Tier V, and Tier V also boosts the other effects. That makes perfect blood the strongest version of a type when you expect to use that type for a major fight, a long expedition or a planned Blood Moon.
Save it when the activity is important
- Keep a perfect victim for a boss attempt or difficult area where every passive tier can affect the outcome.
- Use it for a planned Blood Moon if the type matches the build you intend to amplify.
- Preserve it for a long gathering route when replacing the blood partway through the trip would waste time.
- Store it when the type is difficult to find and you do not have another high-quality replacement.
Feed lower-quality blood when the stakes are low
Do not treat every 100% victim as untouchable. A lower-quality victim can be sensible for routine travel, ordinary enemies or a short resource task, especially when you need to refill the blood pool immediately. The choice is an opportunity-cost decision: consume the perfect victim when the extra tier changes the activity’s result, and use an adequate victim when it does not.
Match quality to the tier you need
If the effect you care about activates at Tier II or Tier III, a victim that crosses that threshold may be sufficient. Saving a 100% victim for every minor task creates unnecessary inventory and prison-management pressure. Reserve perfect blood for the type and activity where Tier V’s additional effects justify spending it.

Practical blood-management routine
- Decide the activity first. Choose travel, gathering, spell combat, melee combat or weapon-focused combat before feeding.
- Select the role. Use Creature for movement and survivability, Worker for resources, Brute for sustained melee, Rogue for critical mobility, Scholar for spells or Warrior for physical damage and defense.
- Check the victim. With Blood Hunger unlocked, verify both type and percentage above the target.
- Choose the threshold. Take the lowest quality that activates the tier your plan requires, unless the activity justifies preserving a perfect victim.
- Feed before the pool empties. Running out causes health loss and can kill you, so schedule feeding before a long route or encounter.
- Prepare for a Blood Moon. Feed the desired type before the event begins so its Blood Efficiency amplification benefits the correct build.
- Use prison storage deliberately. After Vincent the Frostbringer, keep rare or perfect human victims available for boss attempts, major expeditions and event nights.
Common mistakes and fixes
Assuming the Blood Moon changes your type
Symptom: You expect a different set of bonuses when the red moon appears. Fix: Feed on the desired type before the event; Blood Moon effects amplify the active type rather than choosing one.
Reading 90% as perfect
Symptom: You expect the fifth tier from a 90% victim. Fix: Treat 90% as Tier IV. Tier V requires exactly 100% quality.
Spending perfect blood on routine work
Symptom: No 100% victim remains for a boss or event night. Fix: Match the victim’s quality to the activity and preserve perfect blood when Tier V provides meaningful value.
Comparing numbers across versions without checking tooltips
Symptom: A guide’s percentages do not match your server. Fix: Treat type-specific numerical bonuses as version-sensitive and verify the current in-game descriptions. Server configuration also affects Blood Moon strength through BloodMoonBuff.
Letting the blood pool hit zero
Symptom: Health begins dropping during travel or combat. Fix: Feed before the pool is exhausted; zero blood causes continuing health loss and can end in death.
Choosing the right blood for a Blood Moon
Plan the event around the activity that benefits most from amplification. A resource-focused night calls for Worker blood, a spell-focused fight calls for Scholar, a weapon encounter calls for Warrior, and a movement-heavy route may favor Creature or Rogue. Brute is the choice when the event’s amplified effects can help you stay in melee for longer.
Because the event supplies both Blood Efficiency and movement speed, it is especially valuable when you can combine the global movement benefit with a high-quality victim whose role already matches your objective. Confirm the victim before feeding, then avoid unnecessary replacements until the event night is over.
