Short answer: Samsung’s stock Camera app has no documented setting that combines the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s built-in flash with the 0.6x ultra-wide view. A third-party guide updated August 17, 2026, reports that the stock app does not permit that combination. Samsung documents flash and rear-camera zoom separately, but does not publish a procedure for forcing flash at 0.6x.

You can still select 0.6x and use Samsung’s Night mode for low-light stills. Night mode is designed to work without flash. The only workaround identified is an advanced, third-party modification involving root access, LSPosed, and SCam Unlock; it is not a normal setting, is not endorsed by Samsung, and has not been independently verified here.

Can the Galaxy S24 Ultra use flash with the ultra-wide lens?

Not through a documented stock-camera control. In Samsung’s Camera app, the rear-camera zoom selector includes the 0.6x ultra-wide view, while the flash control is presented separately. Samsung’s user guide and general support pages explain those controls independently and do not show a way to keep flash active after switching to 0.6x.

The clearest statement about the limitation comes from a DroidWin tutorial updated August 17, 2026. That guide reports that Samsung’s stock Camera app does not allow flash with the ultra-wide lens. This is a third-party report, not an official Samsung explanation or a result of independent testing. Therefore, a flash icon set to On should not be treated as proof that the 0.6x camera will fire the LED.

What the stock Camera app lets you try

Select the ultra-wide camera

  1. Open the Camera app.
  2. Use the rear-camera zoom controls and tap 0.6x. Verizon’s S24-series camera instructions identify 0.6x as the ultra-wide angle.
  3. Frame the subject and check the flash control shown in the camera interface. Depending on the model software and shooting mode, Samsung exposes flash choices such as Off, Auto, and On.

Samsung’s documentation does not say that choosing On at this point activates the flash on the ultra-wide camera. If the control disappears, becomes unavailable, or returns to another state when 0.6x is selected, that is consistent with the limitation reported by the third-party guide.

Take a low-light photo with Night mode

  1. Remain in the Camera app and switch to More, then choose Night if that mode is not already visible in the mode strip.
  2. Compose the scene at 0.6x if the ultra-wide option is offered in Night mode on your software version.
  3. Hold the phone steady while the exposure completes, then review the result.

Samsung describes the mode in its S24 user guide as: “Night: Use this to take photos in low-light conditions, without using the flash.” That wording means Night mode is a computational low-light option, not a way to illuminate the scene with the phone’s flash. Moving to Night mode therefore changes the exposure method rather than enabling the LED at 0.6x.

Why the flash setting does not solve 0.6x

The S24 Ultra’s interface exposes two different decisions: which rear camera and magnification to use, and whether the camera should request flash. The available Samsung material documents both decisions but does not document a supported combination for the ultra-wide camera. It would be inaccurate to promise that switching the flash from Auto or Off to On will make it fire at 0.6x.

When the flash works in another rear-camera view but not at 0.6x, that behavior does not indicate a damaged LED by itself. Test the flash at a zoom level where the Camera app offers it, then return to 0.6x. If the flash is available in the other view and not at ultra-wide, the difference is the camera-mode restriction reported for the stock app.

Stock Camera versus the root-based workaround

Path What it provides Trade-off
Stock Camera app 0.6x ultra-wide framing, plus Samsung’s Night mode for low-light photography No documented stock setting combines 0.6x with flash; Night mode operates without flash
Root-based modification A DroidWin guide describes using LSPosed and SCam Unlock with the stock Camera app Requires rooting and additional software; it is not an ordinary Samsung setting and has not been independently tested

What the third-party workaround involves

The workaround described by DroidWin is a system modification rather than a hidden menu option. Its outline is to root the phone, install the LSPosed framework, and add the SCam Unlock modification for Samsung’s Camera app. The guide presents those components as a way to remove camera restrictions, including the ultra-wide-flash limitation it reports.

Rooting changes the software state of the phone and requires decisions about backups, update support, security, and recovery before any installation. The available material does not establish that this method works on every S24 Ultra firmware, Android release, region, or camera build. It also does not provide an official Samsung guarantee. Treat the method as experimental and applicable only if you understand how to restore your particular device.

If you still choose to investigate it

  1. Identify the exact S24 Ultra model, region, Android version, and Camera app build in Settings before changing anything.
  2. Make a complete backup and confirm that you have a recovery plan for your model before rooting.
  3. Read the current instructions for the specific firmware rather than assuming that a module made for another release is compatible.
  4. Install only the components named by the guide—root access, LSPosed, and SCam Unlock—and follow their version requirements exactly.
  5. After each change, test the normal Camera app first, then select 0.6x in a safe, well-lit scene before evaluating low-light behavior.

Those steps describe the nature of the workaround, not a guarantee that it will succeed. If you need dependable camera operation, staying with Samsung’s unmodified software and using Night mode is the lower-risk choice.

What to check before concluding the phone is faulty

First verify that you are using the rear-camera interface, not the front camera or a mode with its own restrictions. The 0.6x label is the rear ultra-wide selection identified in Verizon’s S24-series instructions. Return to the ordinary Photo mode, select 0.6x, and note exactly which controls remain visible. Then select a different rear-camera magnification and see whether the flash choices return. This comparison separates a lens-selection restriction from a general flash problem.

Also record the software context. Samsung’s general camera support says that available settings can vary by model. Samsung Canada lists S24 Ultra manuals for Android 14, Android 15, and Android 16, so a screenshot or menu path from one release may not match another. Region, carrier software, and the Camera app build can affect labels and placement. These differences can explain why one owner sees an Auto option while another sees only an icon or no flash control in a particular mode.

Night mode at 0.6x: what it can and cannot do

Night mode is the supported built-in alternative when the scene is dark and the ultra-wide perspective matters. Open More if Night is not on the main mode strip, select it, and then check whether 0.6x is offered in that mode on your software version. Keep the phone steady for the entire capture and wait for the exposure to finish before moving it. The result is produced without the flash, exactly as Samsung’s guide describes.

Do not interpret a brighter Night-mode preview as evidence that the LED is firing. The mode changes the camera’s low-light capture process; it does not add flash illumination. If Night mode does not present 0.6x on your build, use the standard Photo mode at 0.6x with more ambient light, or choose a rear-camera view where the flash control is available. No Samsung instruction promises that every camera mode supports every lens and flash combination.

Can an external light or accessory enable the feature?

An external continuous light can brighten a nearby subject, but it does not activate the S24 Ultra’s built-in flash at 0.6x. No physical accessory was established as a way to unlock this stock-camera behavior. If you use another light, treat it as separate illumination and check the resulting reflections, color, and framing yourself; it is not a software fix for the missing flash option.

Troubleshooting common 0.6x flash questions

“Flash” is set to On, but the ultra-wide photo has no flash

That result is expected under the stock-app limitation reported by the third-party guide. Samsung’s documentation does not promise that the On state applies to 0.6x. Use Night mode, add more ambient light, or move to a rear-camera view where the flash control is supported.

The flash icon is missing or greyed out at 0.6x

Camera controls can change by model, software version, and region. Samsung’s general camera support notes that available settings vary by model. Check that you are using the rear camera, leave modes that restrict flash, and compare the interface at another zoom level. A missing control at 0.6x is not evidence that a separate hidden toggle exists.

Night mode will not fire the flash

That is how Samsung defines Night mode: it takes low-light photos without using the flash. Keep the phone still and allow the exposure to finish instead of expecting the LED to turn on.

The 0.6x button is not shown

Return to the standard rear-camera view and look for the zoom selector. Menu placement can differ across software releases. Samsung Canada lists S24 Ultra manuals for Android 14, Android 15, and Android 16, so screenshots or labels from one release may not exactly match another. If the ultra-wide option is absent in every rear-camera mode, check the manual and support information for your exact model and software.

The workaround stopped working after an update

A camera modification can depend on the firmware and Camera app build. Do not assume that an update preserves compatibility. Disable or remove the modification according to its maintainer’s instructions, restore the phone if necessary, and use the stock Camera app until a version explicitly supporting your software is available.

The flash works at another zoom but not at 0.6x

That pattern points toward the lens-specific restriction rather than an automatically failed flash. Confirm the result in a well-lit test, then compare the flash control at the other rear-camera view. If it operates there and remains unavailable only at 0.6x, the behavior matches the limitation reported for Samsung’s stock app.

Will resetting Camera settings unlock ultra-wide flash?

Samsung’s documented controls do not include a reset that enables this pairing. You may reset ordinary camera preferences if another setting is misbehaving, but there is no published Samsung procedure that turns 0.6x flash on afterward. A reset should not be presented as a guaranteed solution.

Which option should you use?

  • Choose the stock Camera app and Night mode if you want supported, routine operation and can accept a flash-free low-light exposure.
  • Use the ordinary rear-camera flash at a supported zoom when illuminating a nearby subject matters more than the ultra-wide field of view.
  • Consider the root-based method only for advanced Android modification when you accept the setup, maintenance, and compatibility uncertainty. Rooting is not necessary for normal S24 Ultra camera use.

How software version and region affect the instructions

Samsung’s support material warns that camera settings differ by model. The S24 Ultra has manuals listed for Android 14, Android 15, and Android 16 on Samsung Canada’s device page, and regional software can present controls differently. Use the manual that matches your installed Android version and region when a label or menu location does not match these steps.

Across those variations, the key distinction remains the same: Samsung documents flash controls and rear-camera zoom controls, but does not publish an official procedure for enabling flash specifically at 0.6x. The reported root method is separate from Samsung’s supported camera workflow.

Questions readers commonly ask

Is 0.6x the ultra-wide lens on every S24 Ultra?

Verizon’s S24-series camera instructions identify 0.6x as the ultra-wide angle. Interface labels can vary by software or region, so confirm the selector in the manual for your exact device.

Does setting flash to Auto make it work at 0.6x?

No documented Samsung procedure says that Auto, On, or Off can be combined with 0.6x. The DroidWin guide reports that the stock app does not permit the combination.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is Samsung officially blocking the feature?

Samsung documents the flash and zoom controls separately but does not publish an explanation or an enablement procedure. The explicit statement that the stock app does not allow it comes from DroidWin’s August 17, 2026 guide, not from a Samsung quotation.

Can Night mode and flash be used together?

Samsung defines Night mode as taking low-light photos “without using the flash.” It is therefore an alternative capture method, not a flash-enabled Night setting.

Do I need root access for normal camera use?

No. Rooting is mentioned only for the optional third-party SCam Unlock approach. Ordinary photography, 0.6x framing, and Night mode remain available through Samsung’s unmodified Camera app.

Will the LSPosed and SCam Unlock method work on my phone?

There is no verified guarantee for every model, region, Android release, firmware, or Camera app build. The method has not been independently tested here, so compatibility must be checked against the exact software versions on your device.

Is there a recommended Amazon product that unlocks 0.6x flash?

No verified physical product was established for that purpose. An external light may illuminate a scene, but it cannot make the stock Camera app fire its built-in flash at the ultra-wide setting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I force the S24 Ultra flash on at 0.6x from the Camera app?

Samsung does not document a supported control for that combination. A DroidWin guide updated August 17, 2026, reports that the stock app does not allow flash with the ultra-wide lens.

What is the safest built-in alternative for dark ultra-wide photos?

Use Night mode if 0.6x is offered in that mode. Samsung describes Night mode as taking low-light photos without using the flash; hold the phone steady while the exposure completes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why does the flash icon disappear at 0.6x?

The behavior is consistent with the reported stock-app limitation. Camera settings also vary by model, Android version, region, and shooting mode, so compare the control at another rear-camera magnification.

Does rooting guarantee ultra-wide flash?

No. The third-party method involving root, LSPosed, and SCam Unlock is experimental, not endorsed by Samsung, and not independently verified across firmware and Camera app builds.

Can an external light activate the phone’s flash?

No. A continuous light can illuminate the subject separately, but it does not unlock or trigger the S24 Ultra’s built-in flash at 0.6x.

Is rooting necessary to use the S24 Ultra camera?

No. Root access is only part of the optional modification described by DroidWin. Normal Camera app operation and Night mode require no root.

The Bottom Line

The Galaxy S24 Ultra offers 0.6x ultra-wide framing, but Samsung publishes no stock-camera method for pairing that view with flash. Use Night mode for supported low-light shooting without flash, or choose a rear-camera view where flash is available. Root, LSPosed, and SCam Unlock are an advanced, unverified workaround—not a routine setting or a guaranteed fix.
