Apple does not document a single feature called “Voice Zoom.” Instead, Voice Control lets you interact with a device by speaking, while Zoom is the separate accessibility feature that magnifies the screen. You can use Voice Control to target onscreen controls, but Apple’s guides do not establish a spoken “zoom in” command that works in every situation. These instructions cover screen magnification—not the Zoom videoconferencing app.
Choose the instructions for your device

Apple’s guides do not provide a complete feature-parity list across devices, so available controls can differ. On iPhone, command availability can also depend on the app and what you are doing.
Set up Voice Control on iPhone
- Open Settings > Accessibility > Voice Control.
- Tap Set Up Voice Control and follow the onscreen instructions. Initial setup requires an internet connection for a one-time file download; Apple says Voice Control can work offline after that download. Apple’s iPhone Voice Control guide has the current steps.
- To see available commands, say “Show commands.” The list can vary with the app and task. You can also review commands in Voice Control settings, create custom commands, or teach Voice Control new words and phrases.
Voice Control supports spoken interaction and dictation, but Apple notes that it is not available in all languages. Availability can vary by language, region, device, and software release.
Turn on and use screen Zoom on iPhone
- Open Settings > Accessibility > Zoom and turn on Zoom.
- Choose Full Screen Zoom to magnify the entire display or Window Zoom to magnify a movable, resizable area. Depending on your needs, configure options such as Follow Focus, Zoom Controller, filter, and maximum magnification.
- To magnify with touch, double-tap the screen with three fingers. After the second tap, keep your fingers down and drag to adjust magnification. Triple-tap with three fingers to open the Zoom menu. The optional Zoom Controller can provide a menu and controls for zooming and panning.
These are touch controls, not spoken commands. Apple’s iPhone Zoom guide documents the magnification modes and controls. Voice Control is a separate way to speak to onscreen controls; do not assume that every Zoom gesture has a spoken equivalent.

Use Voice Control and Zoom together
Enable both features in their respective settings if you want spoken interaction while using magnification. When it is unclear how to target an item, say “Show names” or “Show numbers” to display labels, then speak the relevant name or number. These commands help identify onscreen items; they do not guarantee that a dedicated voice command will activate Zoom in every app or context.
Check “Show commands” on the device you are using to see what Voice Control currently supports. The available commands depend on context, and Apple does not establish that every device or language offers an identical set.

Use the Mac controls instead of iPhone gestures
On Mac, open System Settings > Accessibility > Voice Control to turn on spoken interaction. Say “Show commands” to review commands, or use “Show names” and “Show numbers” to label onscreen items. For screen magnification, open System Settings > Accessibility > Zoom. Apple’s Mac accessibility overview describes this separate Zoom setting, while its Mac Voice Control command guide covers spoken controls. Follow Mac-specific instructions rather than using the iPhone’s three-finger Zoom gestures.
If you meant Zoom meetings
Apple’s accessibility feature called Zoom enlarges screen content; it is not the videoconferencing service. The steps here configure Apple’s screen magnification and Voice Control, not controls for joining or managing a meeting.
