Samsung’s Single take mode can turn one brief capture session into several photos and video clips, giving you options when a family member or pet will not pose for long. Open Camera, find Single take, and review the results in Gallery. The exact path depends on your Galaxy model and software version.
What Single take does—and when it helps
Single take records a short scene and generates a selection of still images and video clips, rather than asking you to pick one camera mode before you shoot. Samsung says it “will capture a variety of still shots and video clips with preapplied filters and effects.” Its US guide lists highlight videos, slow-motion clips, Boomerang clips, filtered pictures, collages and cropped shots as possible outputs; available results can differ by phone.
That makes it useful for a quick, unpredictable moment: a child blowing out candles, a pet playing, or friends reacting to a surprise. It gives you several kinds of results to choose from afterward. It is not a guarantee that every frame will be sharp or that every listed effect will appear on every Galaxy.

- Open Camera and locate the mode. On supported versions, tap More and choose Single take. On phones running One UI 8.5, Samsung India says Single take may instead be integrated into Photo or Video. Camera Assistant can make it appear as a separate mode. Menu placement therefore depends on the phone and software.
- Choose the outputs, if the option is available. In Single take, tap Options and select the kinds of results you want. The available choices vary by model.
- Frame the scene and tap Capture. Keep the phone aimed at the action during the capture session. Samsung India notes that zoom is not supported while using Single take.
- Review the session in Gallery. Tap the Gallery thumbnail, open the Single take result and swipe through the captures. You can save or share individual results.
Samsung’s US guide covers Galaxy S24, S23, S22 and S21 families, Note20, and Z Flip and Z Fold families, but options and editing features are not identical across them. In the guide’s described workflow, Story Video Editor is unavailable on S21, S22 and Note20. Check your phone’s current Camera menus rather than assuming an older More-menu path applies.

Choose the camera feature for the job

These tools solve different problems; Samsung’s support pages do not establish a general image-quality ranking between them.
When you want more editing control: Expert RAW
Expert RAW is for a more deliberate shot, not a faster alternative to Single take. Samsung Canada says the app saves both a JPEG and a 16-bit linear DNG RAW file. RAW retains original, uncompressed image data from the camera sensor, which can provide more detail to work with during editing. The app also offers manual controls for ISO, shutter speed, white balance, exposure and focus.

Check device support before looking for special modes
Samsung Canada’s guide lists Galaxy S20 or later for the app. It describes astrophotography and multiple exposure for the S23 series and the S22 series with T OS; those special photo options require 12MP resolution. After more than ten consecutive shots, shooting intervals may lengthen because of high-resolution processing. These are compatibility and behavior notes from Samsung’s guide, not a promise that every Expert RAW feature appears on every supported phone.

For the Galaxy Z Fold6, Samsung’s model-specific instructions are Camera > More > Expert RAW; install the app if prompted. The guide describes long-exposure photography and Astrophoto on that model. On other phones, check the device’s own menus and support information.

When a photo is already taken: Object Eraser
Object Eraser is a Gallery editing tool, not a camera mode. Samsung’s US instructions for the Galaxy A37 5G and A57 5G describe this path:
- Open Gallery and select a photo.
- Tap the Intelligence features icon, then choose Object eraser.
- Tap or draw around the unwanted object and choose Erase.
- Save the edited image or save a copy.
The tool fills the area where the selected object was. Samsung’s cited page specifically identifies the A37 5G and A57 5G in the A-series device set it discusses; do not assume the same button or availability on another Galaxy.

Try basic fixes before changing your setup
If a photo looks blurry or poor, Samsung recommends starting with the lens and the scene rather than assuming you need extra gear.

- Clean the camera lens. Fingerprints, dust or smudges can affect the image.
- Change the angle or avoid strong light. Reframing can help when harsh light is contributing to poor results.
- For a close subject, look for Focus enhancer. Samsung describes this feature as automatically switching to the ultra-wide camera to reduce close-range blur. Its availability and behavior depend on the device.
- Allow internal condensation to clear naturally. Samsung says condensation inside the camera can temporarily cause haze.
Samsung also notes that Camera Assistant controls can affect shutter speed, ISO, blur, noise and preview brightness. Camera Assistant is available only in countries that support Good Lock, and the controls themselves may depend on the phone.
