First, check whether your Redmi Note 12 is the 4G or 5G model: open Settings → About phone, or check the box. The right replacement depends on what you want to improve. Consider the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G if you want to stay with Xiaomi, the Samsung Galaxy A56 5G if you are open to Samsung, or the Google Pixel 10a if you are considering a different software platform. These are candidates to compare, not tested winners; confirm each exact regional model, local price, support terms, carrier compatibility, and warranty before buying.
What Redmi Note 12 do you have, and what needs to improve?
“Redmi Note 12” refers to distinct 4G and 5G phones. Xiaomi’s India specifications list the 4G model with a Snapdragon 685, a 6.67-inch 120 Hz AMOLED display, a 5000 mAh typical battery, 33 W charging, a 50 MP main camera, microSD expansion, and Android 13 with MIUI 14. The India-listed 5G version has a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, the same listed display size and refresh rate, a 5000 mAh typical battery, 33 W charging, a 48 MP main camera, 5G, and Android 12 with MIUI 13. Those are India-market specifications; configurations can differ elsewhere. Xiaomi India’s Redmi Note 12 4G specifications and Redmi Note 12 5G specifications identify the models.
Your starting point is already a large, high-refresh AMOLED screen, a 5000 mAh typical battery, and 33 W wired charging on these India listings. A new phone is not automatically an upgrade in every respect; decide whether you care most about camera hardware, display size, charging, platform, or longer-term software support. A higher megapixel count alone does not establish better photos.

Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G: consider it if you want to stay with Xiaomi
Xiaomi identifies the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G as a current Redmi Note Pro model on its India product page. Xiaomi Indonesia’s specifications list a 6.83-inch 1.5K/120 Hz AMOLED display and a 200 MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). That makes it a candidate if you want a newer Xiaomi with a larger display and stabilized main-camera hardware. The screen is also larger than the Note 12’s listed 6.67 inches, so it may be less comfortable if you prefer a smaller phone. Samsung Galaxy A56 5G: consider it if you want to switch brands
Samsung’s global announcement lists a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display and support for 45 W charging on the Galaxy A56 5G. Those are useful specification points beside the Note 12’s India-listed 6.67-inch AMOLED screen and 33 W charging, but the figures do not establish real-world charging time, battery life, or display quality. Google Pixel 10a: consider it if you are weighing a different software platform
Google’s Pixel hardware specifications page lists the Pixel 10a among its 2026 devices and gives it a 48 MP main camera. That identifies the hardware, but does not by itself establish camera results or a specific support duration. If software support is your main reason for upgrading, verify Google’s current support policy for the Pixel 10a and its availability in your country before treating it as a longevity choice. How to compare the shortlist before you buy
- Match the model and region. Identify whether your current phone is 4G or 5G, then check the full model or SKU of each replacement. A product name alone does not confirm its network bands, SIM configuration, or regional features.
- Compare like-for-like prices. Check current local prices for the same storage tier and include any costs that apply to your purchase. No current local prices are established here.
- Check software support for the exact model. Look up the manufacturer’s current policy for the regional variant you plan to buy. The specifications and announcements above do not establish a comparable support-duration commitment.
- Choose camera features for your needs, not just megapixels. OIS and resolution describe hardware; they do not prove how photos compare. No comparative photo testing is established here.
- Decide whether a larger screen suits you. The Indonesia-listed Note 15 Pro 5G is 6.83 inches; Samsung lists the A56 5G at 6.7 inches. Compare those sizes with your Note 12 and consider how you hold and carry your phone.
- Confirm carrier compatibility and warranty. Ask the seller or carrier to verify supported 4G/5G bands, SIM configuration, and warranty coverage for the exact unit in your country.
Manufacturer charging figures are specifications, not independently timed results. Treat them as a way to compare stated support, not a guarantee of how quickly your phone will charge in everyday use.
