To spawn an item in Unturned, enable cheats on the map, open chat with Enter, and run /give [Item ID]. The command is most consistent in single-player. Dedicated and LAN servers may require administrator rights, a server configuration that allows cheats, and the older @give player/id/amount form. Because IDs change by game version, map and workshop content, verify an ID in the exact map and build you are playing before relying on it.
What you need before using an Unturned give command
Item spawning is a cheat function, not a normal inventory action. Three conditions determine whether it works:
- Cheatcodes are enabled for the map. The map-selection screen has an Allow Cheatcodes checkbox. It applies to an offline game and is also required when you host a dedicated map for friends.
- You have the required authority. On a server, the person entering the command generally needs administrator privileges. A server configuration (often identified in guides as
Commands.dat) must also permit cheats; exact configuration names can differ by server build. - The ID belongs to this map and game version. An ID copied from a different release, a custom map or a workshop asset can fail silently or create a different object.
If any one of these is missing, correcting the number will not fix the command. Start by checking the map setting and permissions, then check the list’s version and map before troubleshooting the syntax.
How to enable cheats
Single-player or an offline map
- From the main menu, choose the map you want to play.
- On the map-selection screen, tick Allow Cheatcodes.
- Load the map. The setting must be enabled when the session is created; typing a command after loading a map that was started without it will not turn cheats on.
Use this mode for testing an ID. It keeps permission and server-prefix issues out of the test and lets you confirm the item name in the resulting inventory.

Dedicated server
- Enable cheats in the server’s configuration before starting or restarting the map. Community server guides commonly point administrators to
Commands.dat, but the precise file and setting depend on the server setup. - Grant administrator rights to the account that will issue the command.
- Restart the server if the configuration requires a reload, then join the map and test a known item.
Do not assume that a player who can join, build or use ordinary chat commands is an administrator. If the server rejects the command, have the owner confirm both the permission and the cheat setting.
LAN hosting
LAN sessions can expose a separate failure mode: a player may have cheats selected but still be unable to spawn an item through in-game chat. A community troubleshooting report recommends entering the command in the server terminal in that situation. Treat that as a diagnostic option rather than a universal rule; the accepted prefix and terminal format depend on the running version.

The basic item spawn procedure
- Confirm that the map was started with Allow Cheatcodes and that you have server permissions if applicable.
- Press Enter to open the in-game chat or command line.
- Type
/give [Item ID], replacing the brackets and text with the numeric ID. For example, the structure is/give 17, not/give [17]. - Press Enter again to submit it.
- Open your inventory and check the displayed item name. This confirmation matters because a stale or map-specific number can do nothing or refer to another asset.
The common single-player form gives one item. Some third-party guides also describe accepting an item name or asset filename and an optional amount, with the amount defaulting to one. That behavior is not consistently documented across versions, so use the numeric form first and treat name, filename and quantity extensions as version-dependent.

Do not combine the forms automatically. If /give is ignored on a server that uses the older administration syntax, try the server’s documented prefix and target format after confirming your rights.

Server syntax: /give versus @give
Published guides disagree about the prefix used on servers. The current-looking form is /give, while older server instructions use an at sign and slash-separated arguments:
@give player/id/amountOne example is written as:
@give Knifedera/254/15In that example, Knifedera is the player name, 254 is the item number and 15 is the requested quantity. It is an illustration of the argument order, not proof that the same item number or prefix works on your server. Names containing spaces, renamed accounts and server-specific command parsers can all change the result.

- If the command is accepted but no item appears, check the target name, ID and amount separately.
- If the command is not recognized, ask the administrator whether commands must be entered from the server console rather than player chat.
- Never grant administrator rights merely to test a number on a public server; use a private cheat-enabled map instead.
Vehicles and animals are separate spawn commands
Vehicles and animals do not use /give. Use their dedicated commands:
/vehicle [VEHICLE ID]
/animal [ANIMAL ID]Both spawn in front of the character. They are world entities, so they are not added to the inventory. Only one vehicle can be spawned at a time; move or remove the existing vehicle before testing another vehicle ID. If a spawn appears inside terrain or an object, stand in a clear area and face open ground before repeating the test.

How to choose a reliable item ID list
An “item ID list” is only useful when its scope matches your session. Check these fields before copying a number:

One catalog assembled from game files is labeled for version 3.26.3.12 and reports 1,159 items plus 63 vehicles, arranged by category and usable with a give-by-name form. Those figures describe that catalog and version; they are not a permanent count for every Unturned release. Another widely circulated list is labeled version 3.13.8.0, which is older and should not be treated as a current authority. A separate list states that it was updated in May 2026 but does not give an exact day.
Useful base-game examples
The following numbers are examples published in category lists, not a guarantee that every future build will preserve them:

A guide also uses /give 97 as an example for a 1911 weapon, but sources conflict about that exact number. Use it only as an illustration of command shape, then verify the displayed item name immediately. If the result is wrong or nothing appears, obtain the ID from a list matching your build instead of assuming the weapon or command is broken.

Map-specific and workshop IDs
Map creators can assign IDs outside the base-game ranges. The following reported ranges are useful warning signs:

This is a low-confidence rule of thumb, not a universal allocation standard. Use the workshop asset’s own documentation or test it in the map that loads it. |
Map-specific content can require the relevant workshop map to be installed and loaded. If the map is not active, its assets may not exist in the current session even when the number is correct for that map.

How to verify an ID safely
- Match the version. Write down the game build shown by your launcher or server and compare it with the list’s stated version.
- Match the map. Confirm whether the entry is for a base map, Elver, Arid, Rio de Janeiro or another workshop map.
- Use a low-impact test. In a private cheat-enabled session, run the command once rather than requesting a large amount.
- Read the inventory label. The displayed name is the authoritative check for what the number produced in that session.
- Record the result. Keep the verified number beside the map and version; do not maintain a single unqualified “master list.”
- Retest after updates. If an update changes the list, verify critical ammunition, medical supplies and building parts again before using them in a serious save.
This process also catches category errors, such as using a vehicle number with /give or copying an animal ID from a map that is not loaded.
Troubleshooting commands that do nothing
No response in single-player
- Leave the map and confirm Allow Cheatcodes was selected before loading it.
- Check spelling, the leading slash and the numeric ID. Do not include square brackets from the documentation.
- Try a well-established test entry such as Military Drum
17or Military Magazine6, then inspect the inventory. - If one known entry works but your target does not, the target ID is probably for another version, map or asset category.
Works offline but not on a server
- Have the owner verify the cheat setting in the server configuration and restart if necessary.
- Confirm that the account issuing the command has administrator rights.
- Check whether the server expects
/giveor the older@give player/id/amountsyntax. - On a LAN host, test the server terminal if player chat continues to reject the command.
The wrong object appears
- Stop using the number until you confirm its displayed name; do not infer the result from the list’s category alone.
- Check for a map-specific range and for a list built against a different game version.
- For a name or filename command, switch back to the numeric form because support for those aliases is not consistent.
A vehicle or animal does not appear
- Use
/vehicleor/animal, not/give. - Move to open ground and face away from walls, props and steep terrain.
- For vehicles, remove or move the existing spawned vehicle; only one can be spawned at a time.
- Confirm that the map actually loads the asset whose ID you copied.

@give Knifedera/254/15The first two use the documented base-game examples. The bracketed vehicle and animal values are placeholders that must be replaced with IDs from the relevant catalog. The final line demonstrates the older server format and its player/ID/amount order; it is not interchangeable with the single-player slash command.
What an item list cannot tell you
An ID table does not establish that a command is permitted on a particular server, that a workshop asset is installed, or that a number survived the latest update. There is no universal published statistic for the total number of active IDs, and no official developer quotation establishes one command syntax for every version. Treat third-party lists as practical indexes, not as a permanent API contract.

That approach is slower than pasting a number from an undated list, but it prevents the most common failures: disabled cheats, missing permissions, wrong prefixes and map- or version-specific IDs.
