UNKAPPED says it will take 100 Indian enterprises through an AI-readiness audit by March 2027, then put AI into production at at least 25 of them by December 2027. It also plans to develop 100 India-based forward-deployed engineers by the end of 2028. These are future company targets announced in a press release, not independently verified results.
What UNKAPPED announced for India
The announcement describes UNKAPPED Inc. as an applied AI and go-to-market engineering firm headquartered in San Francisco, founded by Indian entrepreneurs and launching in India. Its stated approach is to place engineers inside client teams and systems to identify useful AI work, build agents and automations, and stay involved through production deployment and measurement. Those company descriptions come from the launch release and have not been independently confirmed.

The release does not explain how the company will define or measure an “AI-ready” enterprise, how it will select participants, or how it will attribute business results to AI. The milestones should therefore be read as forward-looking commitments rather than evidence of completed deployments.

Forward-deployed engineering
In this model, engineers work within a client’s environment to connect data, resolve access and permissions issues, integrate AI systems with existing tools, and bring them into production. The announcement says this work is intended to continue through deployment, rather than stop at a prototype.

The company describes building agents for customer service, collections, document processing, sales, and operations. Its stated delivery approach includes testing and evaluation, human oversight, and governance. The release does not provide named customer examples, deployment evidence, reliability measures, or specific governance controls.

For an enterprise evaluating an audit, the practical questions are what systems and workflows will be examined, what data and access are required, what risks or constraints will be documented, and what decision-ready output the business receives. The release does not answer those questions, so prospective clients would need to request specifics directly.
Why the release cites an enterprise readiness gap
The launch release attributes three figures to a Dun & Bradstreet survey: every organisation surveyed had an AI project underway; 44% were still planning or piloting; and 4% said their data was fully ready to scale AI. The announcement describes the survey year only as “this year” in its 2026 release. It does not give the survey title, sample, field dates, or a link to the original report.
These figures are therefore best treated as statistics reported by the company’s announcement, not as independently reviewed findings or a measure of all Indian enterprises. They provide context for UNKAPPED’s pitch but cannot establish the size of the national readiness gap on their own.

The announcement gives no pricing, implementation timeline, customer references, or independent outcome data. Before commissioning work, an enterprise can ask for clear written answers on:
- Audit scope: which workflows, systems, data sources, and teams are covered, and what deliverables follow.
- Integration and access: how the work will connect to existing systems, and how permissions and sensitive data will be handled.
- Governance and oversight: what human review, privacy safeguards, and operational controls apply to each use case.
- Evaluation: how accuracy, reliability, failure cases, and readiness for production will be tested.
- Outcomes: which business measures will be tracked and how results will be attributed to the deployment.
- Commercial terms: expected costs, schedule, responsibilities, and support after launch.
The release mentions India-specific considerations such as legacy ERP systems, regional tools, spreadsheets, multilingual customers, channels including WhatsApp, voice, and email, and the Digital Personal Data Protection rules. It offers no implementation examples or legal analysis; enterprises should assess their own systems and obtain appropriate privacy and legal guidance.
