If you are looking for free browser games, the sites below are established platforms with games that run directly in a web browser. They are sometimes described as “unblocked games” because they may be available on networks that permit them—but no website is guaranteed to work on every school, workplace, Chromebook, DNS filter, or firewall.
This list was originally framed for 2025 and has been checked against current information for 2026. Use the site’s normal HTTPS address, follow your school or employer’s acceptable-use policy, and do not install a VPN, proxy, extension, APK, or launcher just to get around a network restriction.
Best free browser-game websites
These services offer games that generally start from a browser page without a separate desktop installation. Availability, advertisements, sign-in requirements, and game compatibility can vary by title.

What “unblocked” actually means
“Unblocked” is not a permanent property of a website. A site may open on a home connection but fail on a school Chromebook, office Wi-Fi, or managed browser. Administrators can block domains, individual URLs, categories, embedded game servers, advertisements, or browser features. They can also apply different rules to different users and devices.

A more accurate description is: these are free browser-game websites that may work on networks where they are permitted. A list cannot guarantee access at school, and changing a URL’s wording or using a mirror does not make it exempt from filtering.
How to choose a site
- For the largest variety: Start with Poki or CrazyGames.
- For quiet, short sessions: Try Coolmath Games and look under puzzle, logic, or strategy categories.
- For independent projects: Use itch.io, enable Free and Play in browser, then inspect the individual game page before playing.
- For older-style arcade games: Check Kongregate, MiniPlay, or Armor Games, but expect some older titles to behave differently in modern browsers.
- For a restricted network: Use only services allowed by the network owner. Ask an administrator if a legitimate educational or recreational site has been blocked accidentally.
Why a supposedly unblocked game may not load
A blocked-looking page is not always the result of a content filter. The URL may be wrong, the service may be temporarily offline, or the game may depend on a separate domain that the network blocks.

Check whether Chrome is managed
On a desktop version of Chrome, open the three-dot menu. If the browser is managed, the bottom of the menu may show Managed by your organization. You can also enter these built-in pages in the address bar:

On a Chromebook, select the time in the bottom-right corner and look for the managed-device indicator. If the device belongs to a school or employer, its administrator controls many network and browser settings. Do not try to remove management or change restricted proxy settings.

Safe troubleshooting in Chrome
1. Confirm the address
Use the official HTTPS domains linked in the table. Be cautious with similarly named “unblocked games” mirrors, URL shorteners, and pages that immediately ask you to install software.
2. Test whether the problem is site-specific
Open another permitted website. If multiple sites fail, the issue is probably the connection, DNS, proxy, or device policy rather than the game portal. If only one game fails, try another title on the same service.
3. Remove site data for a broken portal
In Chrome, go to More → Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies → See all site data and permissions. Search for the game site, select it, and choose Delete. This can sign you out and remove saved preferences, so use it only when ordinary reloading does not help.

If Chrome shows a pop-up-blocked icon in the address bar, select it and choose Always allow pop-ups and redirects from [site] → Done only if you trust the site and the network permits it. Do not enable pop-ups globally.

5. Stop if the page behaves suspiciously
Close the tab if it produces repeated redirects, fake virus alerts, notification prompts, unexpected downloads, or requests for an extension or executable file. A browser game should not require an APK, an unknown launcher, or a “special” browser extension.
Privacy and safety checks
- Look for HTTPS and verify the domain spelling before entering any information.
- Do not assume that “free,” “no sign-up,” or “unblocked” means private, ad-free, safe, or approved for school.
- Review the individual game page on itch.io because user-submitted content can have different age ratings, permissions, and privacy practices.
- Use Google’s Safe Browsing site-status tool to check a questionable domain before visiting it.
- Do not provide a school, work, or personal password to a game portal.
- Remember that multiplayer games can include chat, user-generated content, and contact with strangers. Those features may be inappropriate or restricted in a school setting.
Should you use a VPN or proxy?
Not as a routine fix. On a managed school or work device, VPN and proxy settings may be controlled by the administrator. Installing a bypass tool can violate acceptable-use rules, expose your traffic or credentials, and still fail because the service itself is blocked. If access is needed for a legitimate purpose, request approval or use a personal connection and device in accordance with the relevant policy.

Most current portals promote HTML5 or WebGL games, so a modern version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari is usually preferable. Flash is no longer a normal requirement for current browser gaming. Older games may have been adapted, replaced, or left incompatible after browser support for Flash ended. If one title fails, that does not necessarily mean the whole website is unavailable.

Coolmath Games is a strong starting point for puzzles, logic, strategy, and numeracy-based games. Poki and CrazyGames also have puzzle categories.
Do I need Flash to play these browser games?
