How should you compare Ultima, Wizardry, and Might and Magic?

Choose the original game for early RPG character mechanics
The Strong National Museum of Play’s history entry for Ultima is a useful orientation to the original game’s class choices and attributes. Read it first if your goal is to understand how a foundational computer RPG framed character creation. Use the official catalogue to identify entries
EA maintains an official Ultima catalogue listing classic numbered games, Ultima Online, and the Underworld titles. Use it to confirm which titles belong in the publisher’s series reference. The catalogue does not establish that every game is available to buy or play in every region.
EA also has a product page for Ultima VII: The Complete Edition. It is a first-party reference for that specific later entry, but a product page alone does not settle whether the edition is currently obtainable in your country or suitable for your device. What should you check before playing a classic RPG?
Series history can help you decide what to explore, but it cannot tell you whether a particular old game will run comfortably on your setup or match your preferred pace. Before choosing a title, confirm the edition, regional availability, and practical details for the version you can actually access.
- Pick a reason to play. Decide whether you are most interested in historical character systems, virtue-centered role-playing, or simply sampling a classic series. For the first two, the documented examples here point toward the original Ultima and Ultima IV, respectively.
