U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a combined $729.0 million in net outflows on October 7 and 8, 2026, according to Farside Investors’ daily flow table: $484.9 million on October 7 and $244.1 million on October 8. That followed a $118.8 million net inflow on October 6. The figures describe net flows across the funds listed—not every ETF holder selling or all Bitcoin-market activity.

How the $729 million total adds up

Farside’s table, labeled “Bitcoin ETF Flow (US$m),” reports daily net flows in U.S. dollars, in millions. The October 7 and 8 entries sum to $729.0 million in net outflows:

Date Total net flow What the session shows
October 5, 2026 −$89.8 million Net outflow
October 6, 2026 +$118.8 million Net inflow before the two outflow sessions
October 7, 2026 −$484.9 million First of the two large outflow sessions
October 8, 2026 −$244.1 million Second outflow session
October 9, 2026 +$21.1 million Small net inflow in the next listed session

The October 7 outflow more than erased the previous session’s $118.8 million inflow; another net outflow followed on October 8. On October 9, the next session listed in the table, flows were slightly positive. These are daily totals, not a running measure of money permanently leaving the funds. Farside Investors’ Bitcoin ETF flow table is automatically generated and carries a disclaimer that it may contain errors or inaccuracies, so treat the figures as a dated snapshot.

Which funds contributed to the outflows?

The daily totals combine results across the funds in Farside’s table. The largest listed fund-level outflows differed between the two days, and not every fund had a net outflow in both sessions.

  • 2-of-3 MULTISIG: Three keys are stored separately across your phone, Bitkey device, and Bitkey’s server. Any two keys are required to move your bitcoin.

BITB −$27.6 million −$17.7 million

GBTC −$39.3 million −$8.2 million

Farside’s table includes additional ticker columns beyond those shown here. The table’s reported total is the aggregate net flow; the examples above show why it is inaccurate to say every fund lost money on both days. In particular, EZBC recorded a $4.7 million net inflow on October 8 while the overall total remained negative.

Why did Bitcoin ETFs lose $729 million?

Bitcoin Magazine’s October 9, 2026 report described the flows alongside expectations of a possible Federal Reserve rate increase, rising Brent crude prices after renewed tanker attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, and uncertainty over Iran talks. The report connected higher oil prices and inflation concerns with interest-rate expectations and liquidity conditions for Bitcoin. That is contemporaneous context, not proof that any one development caused the ETF flows.

The flow table shows what investors put into or withdrew from the listed funds on those dates; it does not identify their motives. The figures also do not establish how much Bitcoin was bought or sold across the entire spot market, or what will happen to Bitcoin’s price. Bitcoin Magazine’s October 9 report provides the news context, while Farside provides the underlying daily totals.

What ETF net outflows do—and do not—mean

A net outflow is the aggregate result after inflows and outflows across the funds are combined for a session. It is not a count of individual investors, and it does not mean every holder sold shares. Nor is it interchangeable with Bitcoin spot-market trading volume: ETF flows measure activity associated with the funds in the table, not all trading in Bitcoin.

The two-day total is a sizable change in fund flows, but by itself it cannot establish market-wide demand, investor intent, or the direction of future prices. The October 9 net inflow also does not undo or invalidate the earlier daily entries; it is a separate session in the sequence.
