To write in Hindi on X, enter Devanagari directly with a Hindi keyboard or type Hindi phonetically with Latin letters and choose the Devanagari suggestion from a transliteration tool. Check the result for the right spelling and meaning before posting. X’s English Help Center says standard posts allow up to 280 characters; its official pages disagree about the longer-post maximum, so check the limit shown in your composer if you need more.
How do I type Hindi on X?
Writing a Hindi post does not require changing X’s interface language. You can write Hindi text in the post composer using an input method on your device, then publish it like any other text post. X documents posting from iOS, Android, and desktop in its How to Post guide.
There are two main ways to enter Hindi: type in Devanagari with a Hindi keyboard, or use transliteration to convert Latin-letter typing into Devanagari.
Type directly with a Devanagari keyboard
Select a Hindi or Devanagari keyboard on your device, then tap or type the characters you need. This produces Hindi script directly, without first spelling the words in English letters. A physical keyboard can also be used if you know the Devanagari key layout.

Google’s Android guidance describes both a full Devanagari keyboard and a way to switch between keyboard layouts. Because that article is older, it should not be taken as confirmation that a particular app or layout is currently available on every device. See Google’s guide to Hindi input methods.
Type Hindi using English letters
With transliteration, type an approximate Hindi spelling using Latin letters, then select the Devanagari result offered by your input method. Google illustrates this with namaste becoming नमस्ते. The conversion is a suggestion, not a guarantee that the intended word was selected.

Use Roman-script Hinglish if that suits your audience
Hinglish can mean Hindi-English communication written in the English alphabet. Google describes its keyboard as supporting Hinglish and English suggestions. This makes Roman-script text another option, but it does not establish that all Hindi readers prefer it. If you want the post to appear in Hindi script, select Devanagari output rather than leaving the text in Latin letters.

How do you check transliterated Hindi before posting?
Read the converted Devanagari word in context rather than trusting its Latin spelling. The same Hindi word can have multiple Latin-letter spellings: Google gives आदित्य as an example, with variants including “Aditya,” “Aaditya,” and “Adhitya.” A transliteration tool may offer candidates, so confirm the word, spelling, matras, and intended meaning before sending.

- Type the Hindi word or sentence phonetically in Latin letters.
- Choose the Devanagari candidate that matches the word you intend.
- Read the complete sentence in Devanagari and check spelling, matras, and meaning.
- Correct any mismatched words before you publish.
How many characters can a Hindi post have?
X’s English How to Post page lists a maximum of 280 characters for a standard post. That is the practical limit to use for an ordinary post unless the composer gives your account a different option.
X’s official help pages conflict about longer posts. The English About different types of Posts page says X Premium subscribers can post up to 25,000 characters, while the English How to Post page says longer posts can reach 4,000 characters. X’s Hindi-localized types-of-posts page also states 4,000 characters and specifies a subscription in the United States: X Help in Hindi. The pages do not explain the discrepancy, so do not assume one universal longer-post limit. Check the live composer and the access available to your account.

- Applying possess doesn't take more than 10-15min. English letters located underneath each sticker - will accurately indicate buttons on with you will apply corresponding stickers.
The longer-post guide also says longer posts cannot currently be saved as a draft or scheduled on web. It notes that mentions placed after the first 280 characters do not notify the mentioned account; for certain conversation controls, mentions must be within those first 280 characters. Does X need to be set to Hindi to write Hindi posts?
No. The language used in the interface and the language or script used in a post are separate. X’s 2015 announcement said Hindi and Bengali had been available as platform interface languages for more than a year at that time. That is historical information, not a current inventory of interface-language settings; it does not determine which script you can enter in a post. See Twitter’s 2015 announcement.
