Twitch Spendable Balance is an optional balance for eligible monetized creators. It lets you use qualifying creator earnings toward specific Twitch purchases—currently Bits and gift subscriptions—instead of receiving those funds as a payout. To use it, complete creator onboarding and the tax interview, enroll in the Creator Dashboard’s payout settings, then select Spendable Balance at eligible checkout. Twitch requires a stored payment method even if the balance covers the full purchase.

What Twitch Spendable Balance is—and what it isn’t

Spendable Balance is a way for eligible creators to direct qualifying Twitch earnings toward certain purchases on Twitch. It is not a bank balance, general-purpose cash account, or gift card. Twitch treats gift card balance as a separate payment type, even though it shares some limits with Spendable Balance. Twitch’s Spendable Balance help page explains the feature and its checkout rules.

Who can enroll

Twitch says Spendable Balance is available globally to qualifying monetized streamers. Enrollment is optional and reversible, but you must complete creator onboarding, sign the Monetized Streamer Agreement, provide accurate onboarding information, and complete a valid tax interview.

To enroll or opt out, open Creator Dashboard → Settings → Affiliate and review the payout settings available to your account. Labels and account options can change; use the current payout settings shown in your dashboard. If you opt out, you cannot use the balance at checkout unless you enroll again.

Your creator status also affects whether you can receive a cash payout. Twitch says streamers who are neither Affiliates nor Partners may use an eligible Creator Dashboard balance for purchases through Spendable Balance after onboarding, but they are not eligible for cash payout. Affiliates and Partners can choose between eligible purchases and payout, subject to Twitch’s rules. See Twitch’s monetization overview for the distinction between setup and payout eligibility.

What you can buy with it

Twitch lists Bits and gift subscriptions as eligible Spendable Balance purchases. That does not mean the balance applies to every Twitch transaction. Twitch lists separate support for other payment types and purchases, including Turbo, merch, Prime, and Twitch gift card balance. Check the payment choices displayed at checkout for your account and purchase; options can vary.

How to use Spendable Balance at checkout

  1. Enroll first. In Creator Dashboard payout settings, opt in to Spendable Balance after completing the required onboarding and tax interview.
  2. Start an eligible purchase. Choose Bits or a gift subscription and proceed to checkout.
  3. Select Spendable Balance. Apply it among the payment options shown. Twitch currently requires a stored payment method even when Spendable Balance covers the entire purchase.
  4. Cover any shortfall. If the balance does not cover the price, add another payment method, such as a credit or debit card, if offered at checkout.

Twitch says Spendable Balance and gift card balance share a $2,000 USD storage limit and a $2,000 USD per-day spending limit. These figures are stated on Twitch’s help page, which does not show a publication or revision date; check your account and current help page for the rules that apply when you buy.

When earnings become spendable

For Affiliates and Partners, Twitch says support events contribute to Spendable Balance on the same Net 15 cycle used to calculate earnings payouts. Depending on your payout election, funds may become available around the middle of the following month. If you have automatic payout selected and your account qualifies, support can instead contribute to an upcoming payout; Twitch may show those funds as locked in Spendable Balance while payment is processing.

That timing means a recent support event may not be immediately available to spend. Check the balance and status in Creator Dashboard rather than assuming a new contribution is ready at checkout.

Spend it or wait for a payout?

Compare the practical trade-offs before choosing. Spendable Balance keeps the value inside Twitch and is useful if you already plan to buy eligible items. A payout gives eligible Affiliates and Partners money outside Twitch, but it depends on payout eligibility, the payable threshold, valid payout details, and the method available in your region.
