TUXEDO has unveiled the Stellaris 16 Gen 8, a Linux-based workstation and gaming laptop with an optional NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. The flagship configuration is reported to pair that GPU with an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor and 24GB of GDDR7 graphics memory. Despite the headline describing support for up to 128GB of system RAM, the available product information does not confirm any memory configuration yet.
What TUXEDO announced
Giznewsdaily reported the unveiling on October 14, 2026. TUXEDO positions the Stellaris 16 Gen 8 as both a Linux workstation and a high-end gaming notebook. The announcement identifies Intel’s Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus as the processor and lists three mobile graphics options:

The RTX 5090 version is therefore the model to consider if you need the largest listed VRAM capacity for demanding games, GPU-accelerated creative work or local workloads. The 24GB figure refers to graphics memory, not the laptop’s system RAM.
Is the 128GB RAM specification confirmed?
No. The headline associated with the announcement says “up to 128GB RAM,” but the underlying report does not provide supported memory capacities, module layout or a configuration page. Until TUXEDO publishes those specifications, 128GB should be treated as an unverified maximum rather than a confirmed shipping option.

This distinction matters for buyers choosing the laptop as a workstation. A system with 128GB of RAM could suit large development environments, virtual machines, data work or professional content projects, while a lower ceiling would change its usefulness for those workloads. The report also does not state whether the memory is user-replaceable, what memory speed is used or whether the maximum applies to every processor and GPU configuration.

TUXEDO says the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus comes within roughly 8% of Apple’s M5 Max in multithreaded benchmarks and is around 10% ahead of AMD’s Ryzen 9 9955HX. These are vendor claims reported by Giznewsdaily, not results from independent testing. The announcement does not identify the benchmark software, power limits, cooling profile, laptop configuration or test duration, so the numbers should not be used as a definitive ranking.

RTX 5090 versus RTX 5070 Ti
The RTX 5090 configuration is reported to lead the RTX 5070 Ti configuration by roughly 18% in synthetic benchmarks. That result is also attributed to the reported 2026 announcement and is not an independent review measurement. Synthetic gains do not automatically translate into the same frame-rate improvement in every game: resolution, ray tracing, upscaling, cooling and the laptop’s GPU power limit can all affect real-world performance.

The announcement does not publish a detailed port list. It also omits the display panel and refresh rate, storage choices, battery capacity, wireless standards, operating-system distribution and software-support details. Consequently, it is not yet possible to confirm whether the Stellaris 16 Gen 8 includes Thunderbolt, USB-C charging, HDMI, wired Ethernet, an SD-card reader or a particular number of USB-A ports.

For context only, a competing 16-inch RTX 5090 notebook reported by Notebookcheck lists up to 64GB of DDR5-5600 memory, Wi-Fi 7, two Thunderbolt 5 ports, USB-A, HDMI 2.1 and 2.5G LAN, along with a 240Hz Mini-LED display. Those specifications belong to that ASUS model and should not be inferred for TUXEDO’s laptop.
Availability, price and what buyers should verify
TUXEDO’s unveiling does not establish a release date or current retail availability. No price is provided, and the report does not confirm regional ordering, retailer listings or an official configuration tool. Prospective buyers should wait for a TUXEDO specification and ordering page before treating the laptop as available.

- Graphics power: Check the RTX 5090’s configured wattage, because mobile GPU performance depends heavily on its power limit and cooling.
- Display: Verify resolution, refresh rate, panel type, brightness and adaptive-sync support.
- Connectivity: Obtain the complete port list, including USB-C capabilities, video outputs, networking and card-reader support.
- Linux support: Check the preinstalled distribution, supported kernel or driver versions and compatibility of features such as suspend, graphics switching and external displays.
- Commercial details: Confirm price, warranty, delivery timing and regional availability directly before ordering.
Who should pay attention to the Stellaris 16 Gen 8?
The laptop is most relevant to buyers who specifically want a Linux-oriented machine with flagship NVIDIA graphics and a desktop-class mobile processor. The RTX 5090’s 24GB VRAM may appeal to users running high-resolution games, 3D applications or GPU workloads that exceed the limits of smaller mobile GPUs. However, the unresolved RAM, display, port, storage, price and availability information means a purchase decision should wait for full official specifications and independent testing.
