To turn off Siri AI on a supported iPhone, open Settings > Siri > Turn Off Siri and confirm. To use the previous Siri experience afterward, turn Siri back on and choose Siri Classic. The setting is a way to switch Siri modes—not a universal off switch for every Apple Intelligence feature or a control for deleting past conversations.
Turn off Siri AI and return to Siri Classic
- Open Settings > Siri.
- Tap Turn Off Siri and confirm.
- To use Siri Classic, turn Siri back on when prompted and select Siri Classic.
Apple documents this route in its guide to turning off and restricting Apple Intelligence features on iPhone. Menu labels and choices may differ with your iOS release, language, device eligibility, or Siri version.

What changes when you turn Siri AI off?
This changes which Siri experience you use. It does not necessarily turn off other Apple Intelligence features: Apple provides separate controls for features such as summaries. Nor does turning off Siri AI itself change the separate choice about sharing data to help improve Siri. Apple’s instructions do not establish that switching Siri modes deletes previous conversations or all data Apple may already hold.

Keep Siri, but turn off selected features
If you want to continue using Siri while limiting particular Apple Intelligence features, use the controls for those features rather than turning Siri off. Apple lists separate settings for summaries and other capabilities in its iPhone feature-control guide. The exact controls available depend on the feature and the device’s software.

Use Screen Time to restrict Siri access
Screen Time provides a separate way to restrict access. Apple documents controls that can block Siri, allow Siri Classic or Siri AI, or limit selected capabilities. Find the applicable restrictions under Settings > Screen Time; available options can vary by Siri version. See Apple’s Screen Time guide for the documented controls.
Change Siri improvement sharing separately
If your concern is whether Siri interactions may be used to improve Apple’s services, review that preference independently: Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements. Apple describes an opt-in setting for improving Siri and Apple Intelligence; opting in allows Apple to store and review a sample of audio recordings and transcripts. Turning Siri AI off does not, by itself, change this sharing choice. See Apple’s instructions for the improvement settings.

Why the Siri AI option may not appear
Apple describes Siri AI as a beta feature requiring iOS 27 or later. Its guide names Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 or later families, and says Siri AI is available in English to start and initially unavailable in the EU on iOS. Apple Intelligence availability more broadly also varies by language, region, device, and feature, so not every iPhone will show the same choices.

Turn off voice activation without changing Siri modes
If you only want to stop Siri from responding to a spoken wake phrase, adjust the voice-trigger controls rather than switching Siri AI off. Apple documents activation and voice options under Settings > Siri; what appears can depend on the device and software version. See Apple’s Siri settings guide.
