Yes. Third-party measurement shows Truth Social’s traffic falling sharply in 2026, although the exact size depends on the metric. The Washington Post reported on October 14 that traffic was down more than 30% in the year through September. Similarweb estimated about 260,000 average daily users in September, compared with a peak of 420,000 in June 2025.
Those figures are estimates, not an audited user count. Monthly visits also remain highly sensitive to major political and world events, so a one-day surge can occur inside a broader downward trend.
How much has Truth Social traffic fallen?
Several independent reports point in the same direction, but they measure different things. Visits count browsing sessions across web and mobile properties, while daily-active-user estimates attempt to measure people using the service on a given day. They should not be treated as interchangeable.

| Overall traffic through September 2026 | Year ending September 2026 versus the previous year | More than 30% lower | Similarweb estimate reported by The Washington Post on October 14, 2026 |
| Average daily users | September 2026 versus June 2025 peak | About 260,000 versus 420,000, roughly 38% below the peak | Similarweb estimate reported by The Washington Post; not an audited company count |
| Mobile daily active users | July 2026 versus July 2025 | 261,000 versus 436,000, about 40% lower | Similarweb estimates cited by the Daily Beast and Financial Times |
| Monthly visits | August 2026 versus August 2025 | 13.8 million versus 15.4 million, down 10% | TheRighting analysis of Similarweb mobile and desktop data |
| Monthly visits | February 2026 versus February 2025 | 18.4 million versus 25.2 million, down 27% | TheRighting February report |
| Monthly visits | April 2026 versus April 2025 | 48.8 million, up 45% | TheRighting recorded this as the last year-over-year monthly gain |
The pattern is not a single-month anomaly. TheRighting said August 2026 was the fourth consecutive month with a year-over-year decline. At the same time, the April increase and February event spike show why short snapshots can give a misleading impression of the platform’s direction.

Why can traffic jump while the long-term trend falls?
Major events bring temporary visitors
Truth Social’s audience is unusually event-sensitive. In TheRighting’s February data, visits rose from 279,600 on February 27, 2026, to 682,400 on February 28—a one-day increase of 143%—after a major news event. Such bursts can lift a monthly total without creating a lasting increase in active users.
The audience is tied closely to political attention
Howard Polskin of TheRighting attributed the weakening audience to factors including Donald Trump’s diminished popularity, his more erratic performance as president, and a growing volume of dark, AI-generated posts. Those are informed interpretations, not proof that any one policy, post, or editorial decision caused the decline. The traffic data establish the direction of movement, not a definitive cause.

Personality dependence increases volatility
When a social network’s appeal is concentrated around one political figure, attention can rise quickly when that figure dominates the news and recede when the news cycle moves elsewhere. That dependence helps explain why daily and monthly numbers can be volatile even as the underlying audience contracts.
Is Truth Social actually losing users?
The available measurements support a shrinking active audience, but they do not provide an audited count of registered accounts or a complete cross-platform user table. The September estimate of 260,000 average daily users and the July mobile estimate of 261,000 daily active users are close, yet they come from different months and reporting contexts. They should be read as separate indicators rather than combined into one official total.
For comparisons with services such as X, Threads, or Facebook, the month, geography, device coverage, and metric must match. A web-and-mobile visit total cannot be compared directly with a mobile daily-active-user estimate, and third-party estimates cannot be presented as company-reported membership figures.
What does the decline mean for Trump Media’s business?
The audience trend is arriving alongside heavy financial losses. The Associated Press reported that Trump Media & Technology Group lost $238 million in the second quarter of 2026 while generating $1.7 million in revenue.

The company is narrowing its strategy
Chief executive Kevin McGurn said the company would largely abandon online betting and crypto expansion and put more time and resources into social media. He described the change as a deliberate refocusing:

Truth API provides a separate revenue path
Trump Media is selling access to the Truth API to high-frequency trading firms and other customers for $60,000 to $100,000 per month. The Associated Press reported 10 customers. If that customer count and pricing were maintained for a full year, the implied annual revenue run rate would be approximately $7.2 million to $12 million. That is a potential run rate, not reported annual revenue, and it depends on retaining those customers at those prices.

A sustainable business would need to solve both sides of the problem: retain a larger everyday audience and generate revenue that is not dependent on occasional political news spikes.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
What would improve the outlook
- Higher routine engagement: Users would need reasons to return between major political events, reducing the gap between short-lived surges and ordinary days.
- More diversified revenue: Advertising, subscriptions, data services, and API contracts could provide steadier income than a single audience-driven product, provided each line can scale profitably.
- Lower cash consumption: A $238 million quarterly loss makes traffic stabilization urgent; additional products cannot substitute for controlling operating costs.
- Transparent performance reporting: Audited user and revenue disclosures would let investors distinguish registered accounts, active users, visits, and monetized activity.
What could keep the business under pressure
- A declining core audience limits the inventory and targeting value available to advertisers.
- Event-driven traffic is difficult to forecast and may not convert into recurring subscriptions or purchases.
- Reliance on one political personality exposes the service to changes in popularity, office performance, and news attention.
- API revenue is concentrated in a small customer base: 10 contracts would represent meaningful exposure to renewals, pricing, and customer concentration.
On the evidence available through 2026, Truth Social has a possible path to sustainability, but it is not demonstrated by the current numbers. The platform must reverse the multi-month audience decline or make its smaller audience substantially more valuable while proving that new revenue streams can cover losses.

What should readers watch next?
- Whether year-over-year monthly visits turn positive for several consecutive months rather than during one news event.
- Whether average daily and mobile daily-active-user estimates stabilize above their 2026 levels.
- Whether Trump Media reports recurring revenue growth and a materially smaller quarterly loss.
- Whether Truth API customer numbers remain stable and contracts renew at comparable prices.
- Whether the company publishes audited, clearly defined user metrics that can be compared with other platforms.
