You cannot buy Trollheim: Gnomes yet. The official Steam listing currently labels it “Coming soon” and confirms a Windows PC release through Steam, but gives no final price or exact release date. The sensible purchase decision is therefore a readiness check: whether your PC meets the demanding published specifications, whether you are comfortable with a game that is still being built, and whether you have a private co-op group if that is how you plan to play.

Can you buy Trollheim: Gnomes now?
No. At the time of the current official listing, the game is not available for purchase or download on Steam. “Coming soon” is the complete availability status; it is not a release window and should not be read as a promise that launch is imminent.
The listing also does not provide a day, month or year for release. Do not rely on a retailer page, video description or social post that supplies a date unless it is subsequently confirmed by the developer on the official Steam page. There is likewise no confirmed console storefront, boxed release or separate downloadable edition in the available information.

Because there is no live store offer, there is no verified purchase price to compare. The developer’s Early Access answers say pricing is expected to change as development continues toward version 1.0. A price shown later may therefore be an Early Access price rather than the eventual 1.0 price, and a final price cannot be calculated from the present listing.

Platforms and editions
Confirmed platform: Windows PC on Steam
Steam for Windows PC is the only confirmed storefront and platform. The requirements specify Windows 10 64-bit as the minimum operating system and Windows 11 as the recommended operating system. There is no evidence here of a macOS, Linux, PlayStation, Xbox or Switch version.
A Steam listing does not automatically establish that the game will work through another PC store, on a handheld, or through a console backward-compatibility layer. Treat those possibilities as unconfirmed until the developer names them.
No named standard, deluxe or physical editions
The official listing does not identify Standard, Deluxe, Founder’s, collector’s, boxed or other edition tiers. It also does not describe bonus cosmetics, a soundtrack, an art book, a season pass or an upgrade path. Consequently, there is no meaningful edition choice to make today: the only documented product is the forthcoming Steam PC release.

What kind of game is it?
Trollheim: Gnomes is described as a reimagined classic survival-crafting game set in an ancient Nordic wilderness. Its world combines procedurally shaped terrain with curated biomes rather than presenting a purely fixed map. You play in the Dark Forest, where gnomes, trolls, faeries and sirens are part of the setting rather than decorative references.

The core loop is the familiar survival-crafting sequence: explore, gather resources, make tools and recipes, establish a home, and keep your character alive while conditions and hidden threats create pressure. The description specifically calls out cold and hunger, so preparation is part of exploration rather than an optional difficulty modifier.
Building is a central activity, not merely a way to place a few storage boxes. The official tags include Base Building, Crafting, Exploration, Open World, Mystery, Third Person and Simulation, alongside Survival, Early Access and Co-op. Those tags indicate the intended audience, but they are not a promise that every tagged system is equally complete in the first build.
Mythical Väsen are another defining element. The developer says the full version is planned to add more Väsen, along with additional biomes, deeper crafting, more building options, languages and Steam features. Those items describe the intended direction of development, not content that is guaranteed to be present at launch or in every Early Access update.

The listing supports both single-player and online co-op. You can play alone or invite up to seven friends, making the stated maximum session size eight players in total. The number is a group limit, not a guarantee that every activity, world or future mode will support eight participants under all conditions.

A French-language version of the storefront description calls the experience friends-only private co-op. That wording is best treated as storefront copy describing the intended social format, not as a broader promise about dedicated servers, public matchmaking or community servers. If you need an open public server, cross-platform play or persistent hosting, wait for those features to be documented explicitly.
For a group purchase, plan around the least powerful computer in the party. Every participant still needs a compatible Windows PC, an internet connection and enough free storage; joining a friend’s world does not remove the client’s own hardware requirements.
Early Access: what you are actually agreeing to
The developer’s Early Access questionnaire says the game is still in early development, while its core survival, crafting, building and exploration systems are available in co-op multiplayer. The developer describes Early Access as a way to continue development with the community and shape the game through a close relationship with players:
“Early Access allows us to continue developing the game together with our community and shape the experience in a close relationship with our players and navigate the game’s future.”

The same questionnaire gives a best estimate of at least 12–18 months in Early Access. “At least” matters: it is a lower-bound estimate, not a scheduled 1.0 date. Development can take longer, and the game may change substantially before the full version.
Changes the developer currently plans
- Additional biomes.
- Greater crafting depth.
- More building options.
- Additional language support.
- More Steam features.
- More Väsen.
Those plans create both an opportunity and a risk. Early buyers can provide feedback while the systems are being shaped, but they are also accepting unfinished content, balance changes and possible changes to progression or features. A save, world rule or co-op routine that works in one build may not behave identically after an update.
Who should wait
- Players who want a feature-complete survival game on a fixed release date.
- Anyone who needs a final price before budgeting.
- Players who require a console version, a physical disc or a confirmed language before committing.
- Groups that cannot tolerate changes to saves, balance or multiplayer systems during development.
Who may be comfortable with the risk
- Survival-crafting players who enjoy seeing a game evolve.
- Groups that already have compatible Windows PCs and want private co-op.
- Buyers who can evaluate an Early Access product on its current systems rather than on promised 1.0 content.
There is no reason to pay before an official purchase option exists. When the store page does go live, read the current Early Access description and update notes instead of assuming that the plans above have already shipped.

PC requirements, exactly as published
The specifications are demanding for an unreleased independent game. They are the developer’s published requirements, not an independent performance test. They do not establish a frame rate, resolution, graphics preset or loading time.

How to check your own PC before launch
- Open Settings > System > About to check your Windows edition, processor model and installed RAM. Confirm that Windows is 64-bit; the minimum listing is not for 32-bit Windows.
- Press Windows + R, type
dxdiag, and press Enter. The System tab shows the operating system and memory; the Display tab shows the graphics processor. Record the exact GPU model rather than only the amount of video memory. - Compare the processor and graphics models with the minimum column. A component being newer does not automatically prove equivalent performance, so check the exact model if it is not one of the listed parts.
- Open Settings > System > Storage and verify that at least 15 GB is free on the drive where Steam will install the game. Leave additional headroom for updates and normal Windows operation rather than filling the drive to its limit.
- Confirm that your connection is broadband and that every co-op player can maintain a stable online connection. The listing does not publish a bandwidth target or latency threshold.
Meeting the minimum specification means your hardware matches the stated floor; it does not guarantee a particular visual quality or frame rate. If your system is below the minimum GPU, CPU or memory requirement, treat that as a compatibility warning rather than expecting a setting change to make up the difference.

There is no universal yes or no while the game is unavailable and unpriced. Use the following decision test when the store page opens.
Choose an early purchase if all of these are true
- Your Windows PC meets at least the published minimum requirements, preferably with recommended-class memory and graphics hardware.
- You want the current survival, crafting, building and exploration systems, not only the larger 1.0 feature set described in the roadmap.
- You accept an Early Access period estimated at 12–18 months or longer.
- You understand that pricing, content and systems may change before version 1.0.
- You have a compatible co-op group if private multiplayer is the main reason you are interested.
Wait for more information if any of these applies
- Your main requirement is a console, physical or deluxe edition that has not been announced.
- You need a firm release date or final price for a purchase decision.
- Your PC is below the listed CPU, GPU or RAM minimum.
- You are buying for a group but cannot confirm that everyone’s hardware and internet connections qualify.
- You prefer a finished campaign and stable systems over participating in development.
Waiting is a legitimate choice, not a missed opportunity. The developer’s own estimate and planned additions indicate that the product is intended to evolve, so later buyers may be able to judge more content and clearer performance information before spending money.

The official page says Trollheim’s interconnected narrative spans “books, collectibles, music, games, and more.” That is a broad cross-media statement; it does not name a book, soundtrack, collectible, boxed game, accessory, retailer or official shop.
There is therefore no specific physical product that can be recommended alongside the game. Do not treat a generic gaming PC, controller, headset, unrelated survival game or an unverified key as an official Trollheim product. A legitimate recommendation requires a named item, a confirmed seller and a clear relationship to the game.
How to compare editions or platforms later
If the developer announces additional versions, compare the concrete terms rather than the labels. A useful checklist is:

None of those alternative-edition comparisons can be completed now because no alternative edition or platform is identified in the official listing.

Pre-purchase checklist
- Wait until the official Steam page changes from “Coming soon” to a live purchase option.
- Check the displayed price and whether it is explicitly an Early Access price.
- Re-read the current Early Access description and update notes; do not rely only on older announcements.
- Verify your Windows version, CPU, GPU, 16 GB minimum RAM and 15 GB free storage against the published table.
- Ask every co-op player to perform the same hardware check.
- Confirm that the advertised player limit and private co-op format fit your group; the documented maximum is seven friends plus the host.
- Review the store’s refund rules and the current state of saves, languages and multiplayer before completing the transaction.
