Choose the Triangle Capella 2 if you want a complete active wireless system with amplification, streaming, TV connectivity and room-calibration features in the box. Choose the passive Triangle Borea BR03 if you already have an amplifier, want to select your own electronics, or prefer a separates-based system. They are not equivalent speaker packages: Capella 2 is a powered stereo pair with a Stereo Hub 2, while the Borea BR03 is a passive bookshelf pair that cannot play without an external amplifier. Compare the complete system cost and connections, not just the speaker prices.
What you are actually comparing
The model names suggest a straightforward Triangle-versus-Triangle speaker comparison, but the products serve different system designs. Capella 2 is sold as an active stereo pair. Its amplifiers, wireless network functions and source connections are part of the package, along with Triangle’s Stereo Hub 2. The passive Borea BR03 is a conventional bookshelf speaker pair: it contains no power amplifier, network streamer or source hub. You supply those components.
That distinction determines setup, budget, upgrade options and the kind of buyer each model suits. A Capella 2 purchase is closer to buying a finished two-channel system. A BR03 purchase is the speaker portion of a system that may also include an integrated amplifier, separate amplifier and streamer, or another suitable source component.

Triangle describes Capella 2 as an active Wi-Fi and Bluetooth stereo system sold as a pair. The package includes Stereo Hub 2, WiSA support, automatic calibration and 2 × 100 W output. The hub is the connection point for sources and the speakers receive their amplified signal wirelessly within the system.

T3’s review dated October 10, 2026, describes a hub with HDMI eARC, Ethernet, optical, coaxial, USB, analogue input and a subwoofer pre-out. It also reports app-based placement tuning and room calibration using an iOS device; Android support was described as forthcoming in that review. Firmware, app behavior and service compatibility can change, so verify current regional details before buying.
Triangle Borea BR03
The Borea BR03 in this comparison is Triangle’s passive bookshelf pair. Triangle’s European product page listed the pair at 449 € when checked. Because the speakers are passive, they need an external amplifier and speaker cable. Your source equipment can be a network streamer, television, computer, turntable with the appropriate phono stage, or another line-level source connected through the amplifier.
The passive design gives you control over the electronics. You can reuse an amplifier you already own, choose an amplifier with the inputs and streaming services you need, or replace one component later without replacing the speakers. That flexibility is useful, but it also means the purchase price of the BR03 alone does not represent a functioning system.
Do not confuse BR03 with BR03 Connect or BR03 BT
Triangle’s 2025 catalogue also lists BR03 Connect, an active product. The catalogue gives BR03 Connect figures of 2 × 60 W RMS, Bluetooth, multiple wired inputs and a subwoofer output. Those are specifications for the active Connect variant, not for the passive BR03 discussed here.
Seller listings may use BR03, BR03 BT and BR03 Connect inconsistently. Before comparing an offer, check whether an amplifier is built in, which inputs are present, what is included in the box and whether the model designation matches the passive product page. Do not transfer the Connect’s power or connectivity figures to the passive BR03.

The power figures should not be read as a direct predictor of sound quality, maximum volume or bass extension. Capella 2’s figure describes its powered system; the BR03 has no built-in amplifier figure to compare. The meaningful question is whether you want integrated electronics or a passive speaker to pair with electronics you select.
Price: compare complete systems in the same market
When checked, Triangle’s US Capella 2 page listed $2,900 per pair. Triangle’s UK page listed £2,299. T3 separately reported a US price of $2,899, a UK price of £2,299 and an Australian price of AU$6,000 in its October 10, 2026 review. The T3 figures are a dated review snapshot, not a guarantee of today’s retail price. Dedicated S05 stands were reported as extra in each region.

Triangle’s European page listed the passive Borea BR03 at 449 € per pair. A current US street price for this exact passive model was not established, so it would be misleading to convert the European figure into a US recommendation or claim a verified local price gap. Currency, tax, dealer pricing, stock and regional model names can all change.
For a fair budget comparison, add every component needed to make the BR03 perform the jobs Capella 2 performs in the box:
- An amplifier with enough speaker outputs and a power rating appropriate for your room and listening level.
- A streamer or network-capable source if you want Wi-Fi playback.
- Bluetooth, digital, analogue or HDMI inputs if those connections matter to you.
- Speaker cable and any stands or furniture needed for correct placement.
- A subwoofer only if you decide your room and listening preferences call for one.
Capella 2 may still cost more after this accounting, but the relevant comparison is the total price of a working system in your country on the date you buy. Do not treat the 449 € European BR03 listing and the $2,900 US Capella 2 listing as a precise worldwide difference.

Connectivity and everyday use
Capella 2 is the simpler all-in-one route
Capella 2 is designed for a buyer who wants fewer separate boxes. Triangle lists Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, WiSA, a Stereo Hub 2 and automatic calibration. T3 reports HDMI eARC for a television, Ethernet for a wired network, optical and coaxial digital inputs, USB, an analogue input and a subwoofer pre-out. That combination can cover a television, network playback, computer, legacy digital source and analogue device without adding an external integrated amplifier.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →The hub also changes how you plan the room. You can place the speakers where they work acoustically while keeping the source connections at the hub, subject to the system’s wireless range and placement guidance. App-based placement tuning and iOS room calibration are intended to help adapt the system to its room. If you use Android, check the current app support rather than relying on the feature status described in the October 2026 review.
BR03 connectivity comes from your amplifier
The passive BR03 has no network or Bluetooth functions to configure. Its connection experience is determined by the amplifier and source components you select. An amplifier with HDMI eARC can provide television integration; a network amplifier can provide Wi-Fi streaming; a separate streamer can add services independently; and a simple integrated amplifier can keep the system focused on local analogue or digital sources.
This separation can be an advantage if you already own equipment or want to replace one component at a time. It can also create compatibility work: you must verify speaker outputs, input types, streaming support, remote-control behavior and subwoofer integration across multiple products.
Room placement and calibration
What Capella 2 offers
Triangle lists automatic calibration for Capella 2, and T3 describes app-based placement tuning plus iOS-device room calibration. These tools are relevant if your room is asymmetrical, the speakers must sit close to walls, or you want software assistance after moving the system. They do not remove the need for sensible placement: keep the pair aligned with the listening position, avoid blocking the drivers and follow Triangle’s current spacing and calibration instructions.

What changes with the passive BR03
The BR03 itself does not provide a built-in calibration workflow. You address room behavior through placement, the amplifier or source’s correction system, a subwoofer’s controls, or physical room treatment. That is not inherently worse; it is simply a different division of responsibility. Buyers who enjoy selecting and tuning separate components may prefer it, while buyers who want guided setup may find Capella 2 more convenient.
Stands are an additional placement decision
T3 identifies dedicated Triangle S05 stands as a separately priced accessory for Capella 2. The review does not establish that the stands are mandatory, so treat them as an optional placement purchase. For either system, use stable support that puts the tweeters near ear height at the listening position and leaves enough room for the speakers to operate without being pressed into corners.
Sound expectations: what the available evidence can and cannot prove
T3’s Capella 2 review describes subjective listening impressions: a spacious, organized and generally neutral presentation, with limits to scale and low-frequency substance in the reviewer’s assessment. Those comments describe one reviewer’s experience with Capella 2; they are not controlled measurements and do not constitute a direct comparison with the passive BR03.
The available product information does not establish an objective sound-quality winner between these two models. Amplifier choice, room acoustics, speaker placement, listening distance, source quality and calibration can materially affect a system. A buyer should therefore use the documented design differences to choose the right platform, rather than treating wattage, price or a single listening description as proof that one must sound better for everyone.

Choose Capella 2 when convenience and integration are priorities
- You want active amplification and a hub included rather than selecting an amplifier.
- You need Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and several digital or analogue inputs in one system.
- Your television is central and HDMI eARC integration is important.
- You value app-based placement adjustment and automatic room calibration.
- You prefer a finished system and accept its premium regional price.
This recommendation follows Capella 2’s documented feature set, not a firsthand comparison test. Confirm current software support, streaming compatibility and local pricing before ordering.

Choose the passive Borea BR03 when you already have, or want to choose, the electronics
- You own a suitable amplifier and want to reuse it.
- You want to select your own streaming, television and analogue-source components.
- You prefer a separates-based system that can be upgraded one component at a time.
- You are entering Triangle’s bookshelf range at the listed European pair price and can source the required electronics separately.
- You are comfortable handling amplifier matching, cabling and placement yourself.
Remember that the passive BR03 is not plug-and-play. If you do not already own an amplifier, include one in the budget before deciding that it is the cheaper route.
Pause when a listing says BR03 BT or BR03 Connect
Ask the seller for the exact model number and a photograph or specification sheet showing the included electronics. Confirm whether the unit is passive or active, whether an amplifier is required, which inputs are present and whether the price covers a pair. A BR03 Connect listing should not be compared with the passive BR03 as though they were the same product with different names.
Setup procedure for Capella 2
- Place the two speakers on stable supports facing the listening position. If you buy S05 stands, treat them as a separate accessory and follow their assembly instructions.
- Position Stereo Hub 2 where your television and wired sources can reach it, or connect it to Ethernet if you prefer a wired network path.
- Connect the television through HDMI eARC when supported, or choose optical, coaxial, USB or analogue input for the source you are using.
- Connect the hub and speakers to power, then follow Triangle’s current pairing and network-setup instructions.
- Install the current control application and check the available placement-tuning and calibration options for your device. T3’s October 2026 review described iOS room calibration and Android support as forthcoming at that time.
- Run calibration after the speakers are in their final positions. Re-run it after a major move rather than assuming the previous correction remains appropriate.
- Set the source input and verify television volume control, network playback, Bluetooth pairing and any subwoofer connection you plan to use.
Setup procedure for the passive Borea BR03
- Confirm that your amplifier is designed to drive passive loudspeakers and has the required left and right speaker outputs.
- Place the BR03 pair on stable supports with the tweeters near ear height. Leave the clearance recommended by Triangle’s current instructions, especially if the speakers are near a rear wall.
- Connect the amplifier’s left output to the left speaker and right output to the right speaker, observing polarity at both ends. Power the amplifier off while making connections.
- Connect your sources to the amplifier. HDMI eARC, network streaming, Bluetooth, optical, coaxial, USB and analogue inputs are not inherent to the BR03; they depend on the amplifier or source equipment.
- Start at a moderate volume and verify that each speaker plays from the correct channel without distortion or intermittent connections.
- Adjust toe-in and distance from walls in small increments. If your amplifier or source has room correction, run it only after placement is settled.
- Add a subwoofer only if your chosen amplifier or subwoofer connection method supports it and your room requires additional low-frequency output.
Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them
Comparing the speaker price instead of the system price
A passive BR03 pair is only one part of a working setup. Write down the amplifier, source, cables and stands you would actually buy, then compare that total with Capella 2’s complete package in the same currency and market.

Assuming all BR03 names identify the same product
BR03 Connect is an active variant documented in Triangle’s 2025 catalogue. BR03 BT and other seller labels may refer to different configurations. Verify the exact model before using any wattage, input or price information.
Using regional prices as a universal value judgment
The documented figures come from different markets: $2,900 on Triangle’s US Capella 2 page, £2,299 on its UK page, 449 € on its European passive BR03 page, and T3’s separate review snapshots of $2,899, £2,299 and AU$6,000. Taxes, distribution and currency movements mean these numbers cannot prove a global price difference.
Treating a listening review as a controlled comparison
The Capella 2 impressions from T3 are useful context, but they do not test the passive BR03 under matched conditions. Use them as attributed reviewer observations, not as evidence that Capella 2 is objectively superior.
Forgetting software and service volatility
Streaming support, app features, Android availability, firmware behavior and stock can change. Check Triangle’s current regional product information and the exact seller listing immediately before purchase.
A practical decision checklist
- Do I want an active system, or do I already own an amplifier?
- Will the system connect directly to my television, and do I need HDMI eARC?
- Do I need Wi-Fi streaming, Bluetooth or multiple digital inputs?
- Am I willing to choose and configure separate electronics?
- Have I calculated the complete BR03 system cost, including amplification?
- Is the seller offering the passive BR03, BR03 BT or BR03 Connect?
- Am I comparing prices from the same country, currency and purchase date?
- Would app-based calibration help in my room, or am I comfortable tuning placement and electronics myself?
If your answers point to an integrated, networked and television-friendly setup, Capella 2 is the more coherent choice. If they point to reuse, control and future component upgrades, the passive Borea BR03 is the better-fitting starting point.
