U.S. Treasury yields were little changed in an intraday snapshot on Friday, October 9, 2026, as investors assessed a reported pledge by President Donald Trump not to strike Iran before the midterm elections, according to CNBC. The Treasury’s official daily figures later show a 10-year yield of 5.24% and a 30-year yield of 5.60%; those rounded closing-market readings are separate observations from CNBC’s intraday snapshot.

What the October 9 yield readings show

CNBC’s archived live-update page reported an intraday snapshot of 4.7827% for the 2-year Treasury, 5.2399% for the 10-year, and 5.6139% for the 30-year. These are figures reported by CNBC, not the Treasury’s official daily curve values. CNBC’s archived live updates

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s daily par-yield curve lists the 10-year at 5.24% and the 30-year at 5.60% for October 9. Those official values are rounded daily readings based on closing market bid prices, so small differences from CNBC’s earlier intraday figures do not indicate a contradiction. Why the maturities matter

The 2-year yield is often more responsive to expectations about near-term Federal Reserve rate decisions, while 10- and 30-year yields reflect borrowing costs over longer periods. The three maturities need not move together. CNBC’s reported snapshot provides a comparison across the curve, but by itself does not establish what caused any particular move.

What “steady” means in this report

“Steady” describes the reported snapshot, not an assurance that yields stayed unchanged throughout the trading day. CNBC’s intraday figures and the Treasury’s closing-market daily curve capture different observation times and are not interchangeable.

The Treasury also publishes a separate long-term-rate table. For October 9, that table gives a 5.60% long-term composite and a 5.65% 20-year constant maturity Treasury rate. These are distinct measures; neither should be substituted for the par-curve 30-year yield. Treasury long-term rates

What is known about the Iran remarks—and what is not

CNBC reported that Trump pledged not to attack Iran until after the midterm elections. The retrieved Treasury data confirms yields and methodology, not the political statement. The exact wording and conditions of the reported pledge, any Iranian response, and whether later trading sustained the intraday snapshot are not established by these sources. Treat the connection between the remarks and market movements as reported context, not a proven single cause.
