In Total War: WARHAMMER III, factions share a campaign foundation—planning turns, developing territory, fighting battles and pursuing victory—but their goals and special mechanics vary by Legendary Lord, campaign mode, game version and owned content. There is no single resource list or objective checklist that applies to every faction. Use the current campaign objectives and in-game tooltips for your chosen Lord as the authority, and treat the general framework below as a way to understand how those pieces fit together.
What are the goals for each faction in Total War: Warhammer III?
There is no one campaign goal shared in identical form by every faction. The official game manual describes a general territorial foundation: capture regions and hold provinces. The precise victory requirements depend on the Legendary Lord you select. In Immortal Empires, Creative Assembly says victory conditions have been revised to give each Lord or faction loreful objectives and, where possible, incorporate that faction’s or culture’s unique mechanics. That design principle explains why two campaigns can ask for different things; it is not a current checklist for every Lord.
Check the objectives shown in your chosen campaign rather than relying on a guide for another Lord, mode or patch. A name or race alone may not tell you the requirements: the selected Legendary Lord matters, and the campaign mode matters too. The Realm of Chaos and Immortal Empires are distinct campaign experiences, not interchangeable labels for one shared objective list.

The manual distinguishes faction-tailored quests from the campaign’s victory framework. It says each Legendary Lord has unique quests, that these are optional, and that successful completion can offer powerful rewards. An optional quest may be strategically useful, but do not assume that completing it is the same as winning the campaign—or that every victory requirement is optional. Read the objective and quest descriptions separately in the game.

The manual is a useful baseline for understanding territory, victory and quests, but its description should not be treated as the up-to-date objective list for every Immortal Empires campaign. Creative Assembly’s later discussion of victory-condition revisions describes the intended design, not every live requirement. Your selected campaign’s current objective panel is the practical reference for what you must do.
Why objectives differ
A faction’s goal can reflect its story and its mechanics, not just territorial expansion. Creative Assembly has said that, where possible, revised objectives use unique faction or culture mechanics. In practical terms, an objective may direct you toward a characteristic system or strategic behavior rather than simply asking you to accumulate territory. The exact task must be checked in game; the available official descriptions do not establish a complete current objective list for each Lord.
What resources does each faction use?
“Resources” is not one universal currency in WARHAMMER III. Campaign mechanics differ by faction, and a faction-specific system may serve a different purpose from a spendable resource. Depending on the faction, a mechanic could affect decisions such as recruitment, construction, development or objectives—but those are categories to inspect, not a verified list of every faction’s systems. Do not assume that a resource name, cost or function carries over from one faction, or from another Total War game.

The official manual confirms that races have distinct campaign features, and SEGA’s launch-era FAQ points readers toward faction-mechanics overviews. Those materials do not provide a complete, current table of every faction’s resources, costs and unlocks. For an exact value, use the current in-game tooltip or current official material for the specific faction. A mechanic can change with updates, so an older guide may not match your version.
How to read a faction mechanic before spending or committing
- Identify what the interface calls it. Read the mechanic’s name and description in the campaign UI. Do not relabel every meter, stance, special action or objective as a currency.
- Check how it changes. Look for the interface’s explanation of how the value is gained, spent, maintained or lost. If the UI does not make that clear, avoid relying on an unverified assumption.
- Check what it enables. Read the listed effects, costs, unlocks or restrictions before making a campaign decision. A displayed number matters only in relation to what the system lets you do.
- Recheck the current version. Compare the in-game text with current official faction material if you are following an older guide. Do not carry a cost or mechanic forward without verifying it.
This approach is more reliable than a universal faction-by-faction resource chart when that chart cannot be verified against the current game. In particular, distinguish a resource you can spend from a meter that tracks a condition, a stance that changes behavior, or an objective system. Use those labels only when the current faction interface supports them.
How does campaign progression work?
Campaign progression combines shared decisions with faction-specific systems. A useful way to understand it is as a loop: review your objectives, plan your turn, develop your position, fight when needed, then use the outcome and your faction’s mechanics to decide what to do next. This is an organizing model, not a fixed scripted sequence. Not every faction has the same milestones, and your mode’s victory conditions determine what counts as progress toward completion.

1. Read the campaign’s goals before choosing a direction
Start with the victory requirements and the active quests for your selected Lord. Separate mandatory objectives from optional quests, then note which tasks appear to depend on the faction’s unique systems. This prevents a common planning error: pursuing a rewarding side objective as if it were a victory condition, or overlooking a mode-specific requirement because another campaign had a different one.

2. Build a position that can support your next decisions
Territory matters in the manual’s general victory framework: regions must be captured and provinces held. Development and army decisions should therefore be considered in relation to both immediate survival and the stated objective. The best next move is not automatically the one that adds the most territory; it is the move that supports the chosen campaign’s requirements without leaving your position unable to respond to threats. Exact buildings, costs and recruitment options are faction- and version-specific, so consult their current descriptions rather than applying a universal build order.
3. Use battles and campaign systems to create an advantage
Battles and faction mechanics feed back into campaign planning. A victory may help secure territory or enable the next objective, while a special faction system may change which opportunities are worth taking. The key is to ask what the action advances: a victory requirement, a useful optional quest, a stronger position, or a faction-specific benefit. If it advances none of those, consider whether it is worth the turn and risk.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
4. Reassess as objectives and circumstances change
Campaign progression is not necessarily a straight march through the same sequence for every Lord. Recheck the objective panel after major decisions and consult tooltips when a faction mechanic becomes relevant. A plan that works for a different starting position, Lord or update may not fit yours. Keep the chosen victory requirements in view and adjust your territorial, military and mechanical choices accordingly.
Which campaign mode and version are you playing?
Mode and version affect how to interpret advice. SEGA describes Immortal Empires as a large-scale campaign combining landmasses, Legendary Lords and units from the Total War: WARHAMMER series; its support page dates its release to August 23, 2022. Creative Assembly’s later update explains that Immortal Empires victory conditions were revised toward loreful, Lord-specific objectives. Neither statement makes Immortal Empires objectives interchangeable with those in Realm of Chaos.
Before following instructions from a guide, confirm its campaign mode, selected Lord and patch context. If any of those differ, the guide may still explain a general idea, but its objective list, resource costs or mechanical details may not apply. When the guide and your interface disagree, use the current in-game description for your campaign.

There is also a content-access consideration. A Warhammer Community announcement dated August 13, 2026 said that Lords of the End Times would arrive September 24, 2026, bringing four Legendary Lords, new units, gameplay updates and revised victory conditions for many Lords. It also announced Immortal Empires access for purchasers of an individual Lord from that content or its full bundle without requiring an earlier Total War: WARHAMMER game. Because the announcement predates its planned release and access terms can change, check the current official store or platform listing before buying or relying on those terms.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should I do first in a new campaign?
Use this opening checklist before committing to a long-term plan. It works as a decision aid across factions, but it does not replace Lord-specific instructions or current UI information.
- Confirm the Lord and campaign mode. Make sure you are reading advice for the same Legendary Lord and mode shown in your campaign.
- Open the victory objectives. Record the actual requirements displayed for that campaign. Do not substitute another Lord’s checklist or treat a general territorial framework as the full objective list.
- Separate quests from victory requirements. Note optional quests and their rewards, but decide whether they help your current plan before prioritizing them.
- Inspect the faction’s mechanic tooltips. Learn its exact name, effects, conditions and costs from the current game interface. Do not spend, build or recruit based on an assumed resource function.
- Review your position and immediate constraints. Consider territory, nearby risks and the army and development choices available to you. Specific starting positions and options vary; use the campaign map and current UI, not a generic faction ranking.
- Choose a near-term action that advances a real goal. Prefer an action that supports a stated objective, a worthwhile quest or a stronger position, then reassess after the result.
- Verify details that may have changed. If you are using an older guide, check objectives, mechanics and content access against your current campaign and platform information.
How to compare factions without relying on a misleading ranking
There is no evidence-based universal “best faction” in the available official descriptions. A useful comparison depends on what you want from a campaign and on current faction-level details. Compare the following axes using the game’s current tooltips and objective panel rather than assuming one Lord’s features apply to all members of a race.
The Tool Desk

- Army and battle preferences: Which roster and battle approach suit the way you want to play? Confirm current unit availability and details in game.
- Early versus later decisions: Does the faction mechanic matter from the opening turns, or does its significance depend on later objectives or unlocks? Verify this in the current campaign rather than assuming.
The official materials described here do not establish current values for those axes across every Lord. A comparison should therefore be specific—between named Lords, in a named mode and version—and supported by current faction information. Without that, a ranking risks presenting preference as fact.
What the official guidance does—and does not—settle
The official manual provides a general campaign frame: capture regions, hold provinces, pursue the selected Lord’s victory requirements, and treat tailored quests as optional opportunities that can offer powerful rewards. Creative Assembly’s later Immortal Empires update establishes the design intent behind revised victory conditions: objectives should suit each Lord or faction and use unique faction or culture mechanics where possible. SEGA’s FAQ points players toward faction-mechanics overviews, while its Immortal Empires support page describes the combined campaign and dates its release.
Together, those sources explain why goals and systems differ; they do not provide a complete current resource table, exact costs or a definitive objective checklist for every faction. For those specifics, check the current campaign UI, tooltips and official faction material for your selected Lord. That distinction matters: a general explanation can help you plan, but only the current faction and mode information can tell you the exact requirement or value in your campaign.
