Torchlight: Infinite’s SS14 season, Tartarus, is scheduled to launch globally on October 15, 2026, at 7:00 PM PDT. Its headline feature is a prison-themed Netherrealm mode: players take the role of Warden, recapture escaped prisoners, manage inmates, and prepare for a riot that leads into combat challenges.
When does SS14 Tartarus launch?
The official SS14 Season Update Log schedules the global launch for October 15, 2026, at 7:00 PM PDT. That is a scheduled time, not confirmation that the season has already gone live.
What is the Netherrealm prison mode?
Tartarus puts players in charge of a prison as its Warden. The official season description centers on hunting fugitives, returning them to Tartarus, and using the prison’s systems to prepare for an eventual riot. Its premise is managerial as well as combat-focused: how inmates are handled helps shape the challenge ahead.
The update’s promotional copy sums up the role this way: “In a prison full of the most heinous criminals, you hold supreme power.”

How the preview describes its three-part loop
Pocket Gamer’s October 12 preview gives more detail than the official update log. It describes a three-phase progression, with the specific mechanics below attributed to that preview rather than treated as independently confirmed patch details:
- Recapture fugitives: Track down escaped prisoners and collect their nameplates.
- Manage the prison: Place and house inmates in a circular prison with 16 cells, then arrange fights between prisoners or against beasts.
- Face the roster: After 20 turns of building, the assembled inmates become enemies and bosses across three prison levels and six difficulty settings. The preview says rewards scale with defeated enemies and difficulty.
These numbers and phase details come from Pocket Gamer’s preview; the official update confirms the prison-management and fugitive-hunting premise, but does not establish those mechanics in the cited update log.

The official update lists Spacetime Witness as a new Hero Trait for Youga. Pocket Gamer characterizes the trait as spell-focused, offering another build direction for players who use the character.

SS14 also introduces Followers drawn from the Lion Queen, Lone Wolf, Mammoth, and Witch Rat species. The official update says higher-quality Followers can have more skill slots and better Active Skills. Pocket Gamer adds that Follower abilities can include active and support effects such as buffs, protection, and debuffs.

What to watch for at launch
The season reveal establishes three distinct additions: a prison-management and combat loop, a new Youga trait, and progression for Followers. The most detailed prison mechanics currently described here come from preview reporting, so the live client or a more detailed official guide will be the place to confirm how those systems work in practice.
