There is no single Windows 11 laptop that suits everyone. The right choice depends on whether you need a detachable tablet, a long-running everyday laptop, a large-screen productivity machine, or strong performance in a portable design. These picks come from separate publications’ reviews and tests, so their battery figures and rankings are not direct head-to-head comparisons.
Which Windows 11 laptop should you choose?
| Model | Best fit | What stands out | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Surface Pro 11 | People who want a tablet that can become a laptop | 13-inch 3:2 touchscreen, Snapdragon X options and two USB4 ports | Keyboard and pen needs add an accessory and compatibility check |
| Dell 14S | Buyers prioritizing long battery life in a 14-inch laptop | Tom’s Guide measured 20 hours and 41 minutes in its 2026 continuous web-surfing test | Tom’s Guide says it is less powerful than the XPS 14/16 and may not suit every budget |
| ASUS Zenbook S 16 | People who want a large display and capable components | 16-inch screen; configurations go up to Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, 32GB RAM and 1TB storage | TechRadar’s battery result is specific to its own test and should not be treated as a universal runtime |
| Lenovo ThinkPad X9 15 Aura Edition (2025) | Productivity users who value the keyboard, display and webcam | 2.8K 120Hz OLED, 1440p webcam with Windows Hello and around 15 hours of light-use battery per RTINGS | OLED flicker may bother some people; it is not aimed at intensive AAA gaming or 3D rendering |
| ASUS Zenbook A14 (2026) | People seeking portability and CPU-heavy performance | Windows Central praised its Snapdragon X2 Elite performance and Wi-Fi 7 | Windows Central says the OLED could be brighter; check older printer and scanner drivers |
Best for a tablet-first setup: Microsoft Surface Pro 11
Windows Central names the Surface Pro 11 its overall pick. It is a detachable tablet/laptop rather than a conventional clamshell, making it a natural option if you want a touchscreen device that can also serve laptop tasks. The 13-inch display uses a 3:2 aspect ratio and is available as OLED or LCD; configurations include Snapdragon X processors, 16GB or 32GB of soldered memory, and up to 1TB of SSD storage. It has two USB4 ports.
Because memory is soldered, choose the RAM configuration with your expected workload in mind. Before buying, confirm whether the keyboard and pen you need are included, and verify accessory compatibility. Microsoft notes that pen accessories may be sold separately and that product availability varies by market. See Windows Central’s Surface Pro 11 pick and Microsoft’s Windows 11 PC guidance.

Tom’s Guide reports that its Dell 14S review configuration lasted 20 hours and 41 minutes in a continuous web-surfing test in 2026. That is a useful result for readers who spend long stretches browsing and working away from a charger, but it is a publisher-specific laboratory measurement, not a promise of the same runtime in everyday use. The reviewed laptop has a 14-inch OLED touchscreen and handled multitasking capably in Tom’s Guide’s assessment.
#1 Best Overall
- 1.1 GHz (boost up to 2.4GHz) Intel Celeron N5030 Quad-Core
The trade-off is performance positioning: Tom’s Guide says the 14S is not as powerful as the XPS 14 or XPS 16, and it may not fit every budget. Choose it for endurance and general use rather than assuming it is the right pick for demanding graphics workloads. Details are in Tom’s Guide’s Dell 14S coverage.
Best large-screen option: ASUS Zenbook S 16
TechRadar’s overall pick is the ASUS Zenbook S 16. Its 16-inch screen gives more room for documents, multitasking and media than the smaller options here. Depending on configuration, it is available with up to an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
Rank #2
- 256 GB SSD of storage.
- Multitasking is easy with 16GB of RAM
- Equipped with a blazing fast Core i5 2.00 GHz processor.
TechRadar measured 14 hours and 55 minutes in its 2026 battery test. Keep that result attached to TechRadar’s test: different review labs use different brightness, workloads and procedures, so it is not directly comparable with the Dell’s web-surfing result. Check the precise processor, memory, storage and display configuration before purchase. See TechRadar’s Zenbook S 16 review.

RTINGS selects the ThinkPad X9 15 Aura Edition as its best tested Windows productivity laptop. Its highlighted features include a 2.8K 120Hz OLED display, comfortable keyboard, large haptic touchpad and 1440p webcam with Windows Hello. RTINGS reports around 15 hours of battery life for light use.
Rank #3
- 14" diagonal, 1366x768 resolution, HD BrightView LED, Glossy NON-TOUCH Display
There are two qualifications. First, RTINGS warns that OLED flicker may bother some users. Second, its Intel Lunar Lake configuration is aimed at productivity rather than intensive AAA gaming or 3D rendering. RTINGS’ page has a 2026 headline, but its displayed update history says the picks were last verified on June 3, 2025; treat this as an independently tested option with an older verification date, not a newly verified 2026 ranking. See RTINGS’ ThinkPad X9 15 assessment.
Best portability and CPU-heavy performance: ASUS Zenbook A14 (2026)
Windows Central’s hands-on review highlights the Zenbook A14’s Snapdragon X2 Elite performance and Wi-Fi 7. Its battery figures use different methods and should stay separate: Windows Central measured 23 hours and 38 minutes in PCMark 10’s local-video battery test; ASUS claims more than 33 hours under a controlled 1080p video-playback scenario; and the reviewer separately reported a Windows Battery Report estimate of 17 hours after a week of use. These are not interchangeable measurements or a guaranteed runtime.

The reviewer says the OLED could be brighter. If your work depends on an older printer or scanner, check that its driver works with the laptop before committing. Windows Central’s review is at its ASUS Zenbook A14 (2026) coverage.
How to compare these picks without being misled
Match the form factor to your work
- Choose a detachable such as the Surface Pro 11 if tablet use and a touchscreen are central to your routine; account for the keyboard and pen separately.
- Choose a conventional laptop when you want an integrated keyboard and do not need to switch regularly between tablet and laptop modes.
- A 16-inch display can offer more workspace, while a smaller device may be easier to carry. Confirm the weight and dimensions of the exact configuration in the listing before buying; the cited reviews do not provide comparable figures for every pick.
Compare battery numbers only within their test context
The listed figures measure different things: Tom’s Guide’s Dell result is continuous web surfing, TechRadar’s Zenbook S 16 result is its battery test, RTINGS describes light use, and Windows Central’s Zenbook A14 result is a PCMark 10 local-video test. ASUS’s A14 playback claim and the reviewer’s Windows Battery Report estimate use still other conditions. They do not establish which laptop will last longest in your personal workload. Microsoft also notes that battery life varies significantly with the device, settings and use.
Check the exact configuration and operating-system compatibility
- Confirm processor, RAM, SSD capacity and display type: specifications and review conclusions can differ across configurations within one model family.
- For ARM-based models, verify that business-critical applications and peripherals work as required. Some applications may not run natively or may perform poorly through emulation.
- For older printers and scanners, check driver support before choosing an ARM-based laptop.
- Check regional stock, the exact SKU, current price and warranty with the seller. Availability can vary by market.
Windows 11 Home or Pro?
Tom’s Guide says Windows 11 Home is sufficient for most personal buyers. Pro is mainly relevant if you need its additional security, management or business features. Decide based on the features you actually require, rather than assuming Pro is necessary for every laptop purchase. Read Tom’s Guide’s Windows laptop guidance.
