The top 10 retail POS software in India for 2026 are GoFrugal, Zoho POS, TallyPrime, RetailGraph, Marg ERP, BUSY, Vyapar, Shopify POS, Odoo POS and myBillBook. There is no independently verified market-wide ranking, so the most useful choice depends on store size, inventory complexity, accounting needs, offline billing, number of outlets and online selling.
A retail POS is more than a digital cash register. Depending on the product, it can combine checkout, barcode scanning, GST invoicing, inventory deduction, purchasing, returns, staff permissions, customer records, reporting, accounting and online-store synchronisation.
This is an editorial shortlist ranked by suitability for different Indian retail businesses—not a claim that these are the ten largest or most popular vendors in India. Prices and features can vary by edition, location, billing cycle, hardware, add-ons and implementation requirements.
Key takeaways
- GoFrugal is the strongest first option for established Indian retailers needing deep inventory, purchasing, replenishment and multi-store workflows.
- Zoho POS is the clearest cloud-first option with public India pricing ranging from free to ₹2,099 per location per month when billed annually, before applicable taxes.
- TallyPrime is the better fit when accounting, GST, inventory and financial controls matter more than a modern omnichannel checkout experience.
- Shopify POS is most suitable for a Shopify-powered online brand adding physical stores, but POS Pro adds ₹7,000 per location per month to the Shopify plan.
- Vyapar and myBillBook are proportionate choices for small shops that mainly need billing and basic stock records, not full retail ERP functionality.
What is retail POS software?
Retail POS software records sales at the counter and usually connects checkout with product, stock, customer, purchasing and reporting data. A typical system may support barcode billing, printed or digital receipts, discounts, returns, exchanges, payment recording, cashier permissions and inventory updates after each sale.
#1 Best Overall
- A complete countertop point of sale — Combine dual responsive touchscreens, built-in POS software, and durable hardware for a fast, reliable checkout experience.
- Serve customers faster — Run smoothly through busy shifts, complex menus, and big orders with high-speed processing, memory, and responsive touchscreen displays.
- Accept every way they pay — Take all major cards at one simple rate, with no hidden fees or long-term contracts. Receive funds as soon as the next business day.
- Handle real-world demands — Resist everyday spills, dust, and wear with a durable, IP54-rated design.
- Stay reliable through every rush — Maintain strong connectivity and consistent performance through your busiest hours.
More advanced retail platforms can also handle purchase orders, supplier records, stock transfers, batch and expiry tracking, serial numbers, loyalty, multiple price lists, warehouse management, accounting, e-commerce and marketplace integrations. Not every product in this list provides the same depth.
The most important distinction is whether a product is retail-first, accounting-first, cloud-first or omnichannel-first:
- Retail-first POS: designed around quick checkout and store operations. GoFrugal and RetailGraph are the clearest candidates in this list.
- Accounting software with billing: centred on books, GST, financial records and inventory accounting. TallyPrime, BUSY, Marg and Vyapar fit this description to varying degrees.
- Omnichannel POS: synchronises physical stores with an online catalogue, orders, customers and inventory. Shopify POS is the clearest example.
- ERP/POS: combines POS with wider business processes but normally requires more configuration and implementation. Odoo is the main example.

The table uses the strongest defensible positioning from the available research. “Confirm” means the feature, plan or current price should be checked with the vendor before purchase rather than assumed from a generic product description.

Which retail POS software is best for each type of Indian business?
The best retail POS software in India depends more on operating model than on the longest feature list. Use the following shortlist as a starting point.
| Business profile | First products to evaluate | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One small general shop | Vyapar, myBillBook, Zoho POS Free or Standard | Lower complexity for GST invoices, stock records and basic reporting |
| Small retailer wanting cloud POS | Zoho POS | Public pricing, multiple platforms, inventory and multi-location features |
| Retailer already using Tally | TallyPrime | Reduces accounting-system change and supports billing and inventory |
| Grocery or supermarket | GoFrugal, Zoho POS, RetailGraph, Marg | Barcode, purchasing, stock depth and possible batch or expiry workflows matter |
| Apparel or footwear chain | GoFrugal, RetailGraph, Odoo, Shopify POS | Variants, branches, stock visibility and omnichannel needs matter |
| Shopify online brand adding stores | Shopify POS | Native online/offline commerce ecosystem |
| Distributor with retail counters | Marg, TallyPrime, BUSY, GoFrugal | Accounting, purchasing, distribution and inventory are central |
| Multi-store Indian retailer | GoFrugal, RetailGraph, Zoho POS, Odoo | Central catalogue, transfers, permissions and consolidated reporting |
| Low-cost accounting-first operation | TallyPrime, BUSY, Vyapar | Financial and tax workflows outweigh advanced retail features |
1. GoFrugal Retail POS: best for established Indian retail operations
GoFrugal is the strongest candidate for an established Indian retailer that needs more than simple invoicing. Grocery, supermarket, pharmacy, apparel, footwear and multi-location businesses should place GoFrugal near the top of their demo list when purchasing, stock control, replenishment, transfers and operational reporting are important.
Secondary Indian retail coverage associates GoFrugal with barcode billing, real-time inventory, GST-related billing and expiry tracking, but feature availability can depend on the edition and retail vertical. A grocery POS comparison from Petpooja and a 2026 Indian retail POS shortlist from GETPOS provide supporting market context rather than independent product testing.
GoFrugal’s principal advantage is retail depth: a growing operation may need purchase orders, supplier workflows, warehouse or branch stock, barcode processes and replenishment rather than just an invoice screen. The trade-off is complexity. A single shop with a small catalogue may pay for capability it will never use.
Current public pricing was not verified in the reviewed research. Ask for an itemised quote separating software, registers, users, locations, hardware, implementation, migration, support and taxes. Do not accept an unsupported “India’s No. 1” or “most popular” claim as market-share evidence.
Verdict: Start with GoFrugal for serious Indian retail operations and multi-store growth. Choose a lighter product if the business only needs mobile billing and basic stock visibility.
Visit GoFrugal’s official site to request current product and pricing details.
2. Zoho POS: best transparent cloud option for Indian SMEs
Zoho POS is the clearest cloud-first option for small and medium retailers that want public pricing, inventory, barcode billing, reports and multi-location management without beginning with a quote-led ERP purchase.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Zoho’s India pricing page lists a Free plan at ₹0 per location per month when billed annually, with one register, one user and a limit of 50 POS transactions. The Standard plan costs ₹649 per location per month when billed annually or ₹799 when billed monthly. Professional costs ₹1,299 annually billed or ₹1,599 monthly, while Premium costs ₹2,099 annually billed or ₹2,499 monthly. Listed prices exclude applicable taxes, and Zoho offers a 15-day free trial without a credit card.
Zoho lists Windows, macOS, Android and iOS billing apps. The pricing page lists barcode scanning, printer support, offline billing and data synchronisation from the Standard plan. Relevant higher tiers add capabilities such as multi-location management, product transfers, serial and batch tracking, e-way bills, reports and Shopify integration. The exact plan should be checked before signing up because users, registers, warehouses and SMS credits can be add-ons.
The free tier is useful for testing but should not be treated as a realistic full deployment for a busy shop because one register, one user and 50 POS transactions are restrictive. Retailers with weighing scales, expiry-heavy pharmacy workflows, specialised exchanges, loyalty requirements or unusual local hardware should test those processes during the trial.
Zoho POS should also be distinguished from Zoho Books. Zoho Books is primarily accounting software, whereas Zoho POS is the retail checkout and store-operations product.
Verdict: Zoho POS is the best transparent cloud option for many Indian SMEs. It is less compelling if the retailer needs highly specialised workflows or wants a one-time licence with no recurring subscription.
See Zoho POS’s official product page before comparing the available editions.

- DURABLE POS CASH DRAWER: Volcora cash register drawer measures 13"x13.25"x4", voltage is at 12-24 VDC. Our money drawer has a heavy duty durable metal frame that is an ideal cash register for small businesses and even big establishments too.

Just connect the cash drawer to a receipt printer via the RJ11 / RJ12 cable included in the package, and then to your POS to automatically open or close cash trays. Our cash drawers can be used with most major receipt or thermal printer brands. Compatible with Star, Citizen, JAY, and Bixolon. (No USB port, so CANNOT be connected to POS directly via USB)
- 100% LIFETIME GUARANTEE: Contact us if you are not satisfied with our cash drawer tray for checkout counter and we will send you a new replacement.
3. TallyPrime: best for accounting-led retail
TallyPrime is the best fit when accounting, GST, inventory and financial control are as important as counter billing. Tally is especially practical when the retailer’s accountant, distributor or existing back office already uses Tally.
Tally’s India purchase page lists Silver at ₹750 for one month, ₹8,100 for 12 months or ₹22,500 for a lifetime licence, plus 18% GST. Gold is listed at ₹2,250 monthly, ₹24,300 annually or ₹67,500 for a lifetime licence, plus 18% GST. Tally positions Silver for a single PC and Gold for multi-user access across multiple PCs.

Tally’s official retail material lists invoicing, accounting, inventory management, GST and compliance, e-invoicing, e-way bills, banking, discounts, returns and retail operations. Tally’s retail accounting page describes the retail capabilities, while Tally’s retail billing page covers billing-oriented use cases.
TallyPrime is not automatically equivalent to a specialised modern retail ERP. A retailer should test cashier speed, barcode hardware, offline operation, branch controls, exchanges, customer-facing features and online synchronisation rather than assuming that strong accounting means strong POS.
Hardware, deployment, cloud access, implementation and support can materially change the total cost. A lifetime licence also does not mean that every service, upgrade, hosting or support requirement is free forever.
Verdict: Choose TallyPrime when financial records and GST workflows are central, especially if the organisation already operates Tally. Choose a retail-first product when shop-floor speed, clienteling or omnichannel inventory is the primary requirement.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →4. RetailGraph: a specialist retail ERP/POS contender
RetailGraph is worth evaluating for multi-branch retailers and category-specific businesses such as apparel, footwear, pharmacy and grocery. The product belongs in the specialist retail ERP/POS category rather than the lightweight billing category.
The likely reason to compare RetailGraph with GoFrugal and Marg is retail process depth: branches, product categories, variants and store-level operations may matter more than generic invoicing. However, current public pricing was not verified in the reviewed research, and edition-specific feature availability should be confirmed directly.
Ask RetailGraph to demonstrate variant management, barcode labels, purchases, returns, exchanges, transfers, offline sales, cashier permissions, audit trails, batch or expiry handling and consolidated reporting. Ask whether each requested capability is included or requires a module.
Verdict: RetailGraph is a sensible specialist contender for a growing or category-heavy retailer, but it should be bought only after a process-specific demo and an itemised quote.

5. Marg ERP and MargBooks: best for retail-distribution overlap
Marg is most relevant to retailers whose business overlaps with wholesale, distribution, purchasing and accounting. A pharmacy or distribution-heavy operation may have different needs from a lifestyle retailer with a small showroom, so the exact Marg product and edition matter.
Marg’s long-standing Indian business-management positioning makes it a candidate to compare with TallyPrime and BUSY, not only with cloud-first checkout products. The product family can make like-for-like comparison difficult: confirm whether the proposed package is desktop or cloud-based, which modules are included, how branch stock works and what support is provided.
Ask for demonstrations of purchase orders, goods receipt, supplier balances, retail billing, batch and expiry processes where relevant, returns, branch transfers, GST reports and payment reconciliation. Current official pricing was not established in the reviewed research, so third-party prices should not be presented as current.
Recommended Free Tools
Verdict: Consider Marg when retail is part of a wider distribution or accounting operation. A small single-counter shop may find the system excessive.
Check Marg’s official site for the current product family and sales contact.
6. BUSY: an accounting-first alternative
BUSY suits Indian SMEs that want accounting, GST, invoicing and inventory in one accounting-led system. BUSY is particularly worth evaluating when the owner or accountant already knows the software.
Rank #3
- No Hidden Fees or Forced Subscriptions: The SmartPOS 129 arrives ready to use, equipped with a comprehensive range of functionalities, ensuring no additional costs. For details on these capabilities, refer to the "SmartPOS Included Features" table below.
- Professional All-in-One POS System: The SmartPOS 129 comes with a 15" cashier touchscreen, a matching 15" customer-facing promo display, a cash drawer, a handheld scanner, and a thermal printer, ensuring a seamless checkout experience.
- Over 50 Card Processor Integrations: SmartPOS offers unparalleled flexibility, integrating with a vast array of card processors and forecourts, so you can select the best option for your business needs without extra hardware costs.
- Free Initial Setup Call: Benefit from personalized guidance with our specialists dedicated to ensuring your SmartPOS is up and running effortlessly, providing you with the tools and knowledge for a seamless start.
- Free Mobile App: Experience seamless integration with SmartPOS through the free Retail360 app. Easily scan products, update your price book, and make on-the-spot price adjustments — all from your mobile device, at no additional cost.
BUSY may be less retail-specialised than GoFrugal, RetailGraph or other dedicated store platforms. Confirm barcode billing, printer and cash-drawer support, offline operation, multi-store controls, user permissions, purchase workflows, returns and branch reporting for the exact BUSY edition.
Do not rely on a third-party listing for current BUSY pricing. Ask for the total cost of licences, users, locations, support, migration, hardware and taxes. Also ask whether e-invoicing or e-way bill functions are native, included in the selected edition or dependent on another service.
Verdict: BUSY is a practical accounting-first alternative to TallyPrime, but it should not be selected for a complex retail chain without a live cashier and stock-control test.
Visit BUSY’s official site to confirm current plans and retail capabilities.
7. Vyapar: best for simple small-shop billing
Vyapar is aimed at micro and small businesses that need invoicing, GST billing, expense tracking and basic inventory without the learning curve of a full retail ERP. Vyapar is a reasonable step up from notebooks, spreadsheets or generic invoice templates.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The trade-off is operational depth. A retailer needing centralised multi-store stock, inter-store transfers, advanced replenishment, complex purchasing, detailed permissions, loyalty or omnichannel inventory should treat Vyapar as a possible starter system rather than an automatic long-term platform.
Confirm current plan limits, device support, barcode and printer compatibility, offline behaviour, data export and branch functionality for the edition being sold. “Billing software” and “full POS” are not interchangeable descriptions.
Verdict: Choose Vyapar for simplicity and basic small-shop adoption. Move up to a retail-first or ERP/POS platform when store operations become more complex.
See Vyapar’s official site for current app and software options.

8. Shopify POS: best for Shopify-based omnichannel retail
Shopify POS is the strongest fit for a D2C or omnichannel brand that already sells through Shopify and wants physical-store sales connected to the online catalogue, customers, orders and inventory.
Shopify India’s POS pricing page displays Basic at ₹1,994 per month, Grow at ₹7,447 per month and Advanced at ₹30,164 per month. Shopify lists POS Pro as an additional ₹7,000 per location per month. Shopify describes POS Pro as adding staff roles and permissions, richer customer profiles, loyalty insights, returns and exchanges at any location, inventory management, professional retail reports and omnichannel capabilities.
The same Shopify page lists third-party payment-provider rates beginning at 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced. Payment processing, GST configuration, hardware, apps, shipping integrations and local operational requirements should be evaluated separately from the subscription price.
Shopify POS can be poor value for a standalone Indian shop that only needs GST billing, barcode scanning and stock deduction. The basic in-person feature set is also not the same as POS Pro, so a retailer should compare the actual store workflow rather than only the Shopify plan name.
Verdict: Use Shopify POS when online/offline commerce is the core requirement. Choose an Indian retail ERP or accounting-led product when traditional store operations, distribution and local financial workflows matter more than e-commerce integration.
9. Odoo POS: best for flexible ERP implementation
Odoo POS is best for a business that wants POS alongside inventory, purchasing, accounting, CRM, e-commerce, warehousing or other ERP modules and has the capacity to manage implementation.
Odoo’s India-focused POS comparison white paper discusses capabilities including click-and-collect, cross-store inventory visibility, multi-store management, mobile POS and integrations in the context of Indian retail solutions. Those capabilities still need to be mapped to the chosen Odoo edition, apps, configuration and implementation partner.
Flexibility is both Odoo’s advantage and its risk. Total cost can depend on users, apps, hosting, customisation, integrations, partner services, data migration and ongoing administration. A retailer looking for immediate, low-touch deployment may be better served by a packaged Indian POS.
Rank #4

Current India-specific Odoo pricing was not verified in the reviewed research. Do not publish a precise local price without checking the official pricing and implementation route.
Verdict: Choose Odoo when the organisation is prepared to fund process design and implementation in return for a configurable ERP/POS platform.
Start with Odoo’s official site and request an India-specific commercial proposal.
10. myBillBook: best lightweight option for micro-retail
myBillBook belongs in the lightweight billing category for very small retailers that mainly need GST invoices, payment collection and basic stock records. A micro-business may be better served by a proportionate tool than by an ERP with implementation overhead.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
myBillBook should not be presented as equivalent to GoFrugal, RetailGraph or Odoo. Before choosing it, verify barcode scanning, thermal-printer support, offline billing, purchase orders, stock transfers, multiple users, branch reporting, permissions, data export and the exact GST workflow.
Current official pricing and feature limits were not established in the reviewed research. Treat the product as a shortlist candidate until the current plan and device requirements are confirmed.
Verdict: myBillBook is worth considering for basic one-location billing, but a retailer should move to a fuller POS when purchasing, branches, stock accuracy and operational controls become important.
Visit myBillBook’s official site to verify the current product and pricing.
How should Indian retailers compare GST and compliance features?
“GST compliant” is too vague to be a useful buying specification. A retailer should distinguish GST-ready invoices, GST reports, e-invoice generation, e-way bill generation, payment reconciliation and accounting or return-filing support.
Ask each vendor whether the capability is native, included in the quoted plan or dependent on a third-party provider. Ask about transaction or document limits, invoice configuration, failed or rejected documents, offline operation and correction procedures. A POS vendor’s feature description does not replace the retailer’s accountant or current tax guidance.
TallyPrime’s official pages list GST, e-invoicing and e-way bills among its capabilities, while Zoho POS’s India pricing page lists e-way bills at relevant tiers. These statements describe listed product capabilities; they do not by themselves establish that every retailer’s compliance workflow is correctly configured.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does every Indian retailer need a full POS?
No. A single small shop may only need GST invoice generation, a product and stock list, barcode scanning, UPI or payment recording, basic reports and printer compatibility.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →A chain or category-heavy retailer may additionally need centralised inventory, inter-store transfers, batch and expiry tracking, serial numbers, purchase orders, multiple price lists, role-based access, advanced returns and exchanges, loyalty, customer segmentation and online or marketplace synchronisation.
The correct decision is the least complex system that handles the business’s current controls and its credible near-term growth. A low-cost billing app can be a good choice for one shop and a costly mistake for a ten-store chain that must migrate again in a year.
What should retailers check about offline billing?
Offline capability means more than a vendor saying that an app works without an internet connection. A reliable offline workflow should explain what the cashier can do, what data is stored locally and how transactions synchronise later.
- Can the cashier complete a sale without internet?
- Does barcode lookup work offline?
- Can the retailer print a receipt while disconnected?
- Are GST documents generated immediately or queued?
- What happens when the same SKU sells at two stores while both stores are disconnected?
- How are duplicate invoice numbers, stock conflicts and failed synchronisation handled?
- Is offline mode available on every platform and plan?
Zoho’s pricing page explicitly lists offline billing and data synchronisation from the Standard plan. That evidence should not be generalised to GoFrugal, RetailGraph, Marg, BUSY, Vyapar, Shopify POS, Odoo or myBillBook without checking the exact product and edition.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhat POS hardware should an Indian retailer verify?
Software compatibility should be tested with the actual hardware before purchase. Depending on the store, the required equipment may include barcode scanners, thermal receipt printers, A4 printers, cash drawers, weighing scales, customer displays, POS terminals, Android tablets, Windows PCs and label printers.
Best Value
- All-in-One POS Solution – Includes register base, thermal receipt printer, secure cash drawer, and stand – built for retail stores and quick-serve restaurants.
- Compatible with 10″ Amazon Fire Tablets; pairs with the Datio POS App – try free before subscribing.
- Monthly Subscription – $64/month includes Software, Updates, Support, and Warranty. No long-term contract, cancel anytime.
- Flexible Payments – Datio Credit Card Payments via Worldpay (free terminal on approval), or use your own terminal for cash-only tracking.
- Amazon Fire Tablet Not Included – POS hardware only; customer supplies a compatible 10″ Fire Tablet separately.
Hardware, installation, networking, data migration, training and support can cost more than the first software invoice. Ask the vendor to name supported models or connection standards and demonstrate the complete checkout process using the retailer’s intended scanner, printer and payment setup.
How much does retail POS software really cost?
The advertised subscription or licence is only one part of the buying decision. Use this calculation:
Year-one cost = software licence or subscription + extra users + extra registers + extra locations + hardware + setup and migration + integrations + support + taxes.
Zoho POS, Shopify POS and TallyPrime have verified price signals in the reviewed sources. Current official prices were not established for GoFrugal, RetailGraph, Marg ERP, BUSY, Vyapar, Odoo India POS or myBillBook, so third-party prices should not be treated as current.
For example, Zoho’s advertised per-location price can increase when the retailer adds registers, users, warehouses or SMS credits. Shopify’s base plan can be supplemented by POS Pro, payment-provider charges, hardware and apps. TallyPrime’s listed prices explicitly exclude 18% GST, while support, deployment and connected services can affect the practical cost.
What should you ask during a POS demo?
- Show a normal sale, a return, an exchange and a partial refund.
- Disconnect the internet and complete a sale using the intended scanner and printer.
- Reconnect the system and show exactly how offline transactions synchronise.
- Create a purchase order, receive goods and inspect the resulting stock.
- Transfer stock between two stores and show both store reports.
- Demonstrate cashier permissions, manager approvals and audit logs.
- Test barcode labels, weighing scales, batch or expiry tracking and serial numbers where relevant.
- Explain e-invoice and e-way bill failure handling, document limits and correction procedures.
- Export the product catalogue, sales, customer records, stock and financial data.
- Provide the complete three-year cost with every register, user, location, module, integration, hardware item, support charge and tax.
Run a pilot in one store or use a parallel process before replacing a live system. The pilot should include opening stock, real product barcodes, actual tax settings, real returns and the busiest cashier workflow.
Why do many POS comparisons produce the wrong recommendation?
Many comparisons mix restaurant software with retail software, treat accounting applications and cashier-first POS systems as identical, publish old or aggregator prices, assume cloud is automatically better and ignore migration and support.

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Restaurant POS products such as Petpooja or Posist/Restroworks should not automatically appear in a general retail ranking because food-service workflows differ from grocery, apparel, electronics, pharmacy and general merchandise workflows. Petpooja’s retail comparison illustrates why vendor categories and use cases should be read carefully rather than treated as interchangeable market rankings.
Cloud deployment can improve central access and multi-store visibility, but retailers should ask where data is hosted, whether data can be exported, what happens after cancellation, how offline transactions synchronise and whether the system depends on a vendor-controlled payment or hardware stack.
A longer feature list is not automatically a better POS. A shop with 200 SKUs and one cashier may be worse off with a complex ERP than with a simple billing app. A 20-store chain may quickly outgrow a cheap mobile invoicing tool.
Final recommendations
Choose Zoho POS when transparent cloud pricing, a free trial and multi-platform access are priorities. Choose GoFrugal when a serious Indian retail operation needs deeper purchasing, stock and branch workflows. Choose TallyPrime when accounting, GST and financial control are the centre of the business.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Choose Shopify POS for a Shopify-based online brand adding physical stores. Choose Vyapar or myBillBook when a micro-retailer mainly needs simple billing and basic inventory. Choose Odoo when the organisation can fund implementation and wants a configurable ERP beyond checkout. Evaluate RetailGraph, Marg and BUSY according to category-specific retail, distribution and accounting requirements.
Before buying, test the actual store workflow offline, verify GST and e-invoice responsibilities with the accountant, confirm hardware compatibility and obtain an itemised three-year quote. The best retail POS software in India is the system that reliably handles the retailer’s real checkout, stock, compliance and reporting process at a sustainable total cost.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which is the best retail POS software in India for a small shop?
Zoho POS, Vyapar or myBillBook are sensible first options for a small shop, depending on whether the owner prioritises cloud POS features or simple billing and basic inventory. A small shop should not pay for multi-store ERP complexity without a clear operational need.
Which retail POS software is best for multi-store businesses in India?
GoFrugal, RetailGraph, Zoho POS and Odoo are the strongest first options for multi-store businesses because central catalogues, branch permissions, stock transfers and consolidated reporting matter. The retailer should confirm the exact plan, offline behaviour and implementation scope before purchase.
Is TallyPrime a POS or accounting software?
TallyPrime is primarily an accounting and business-management system that also supports retail billing and inventory. TallyPrime is a strong fit when GST, accounting and financial control are central, but a retailer should test whether its cashier, hardware, branch and omnichannel workflows match a specialised retail POS.
Does Zoho POS work offline in India?
Zoho’s India pricing page lists offline billing and data synchronisation from the Standard plan. Retailers should still test barcode lookup, receipt printing, invoice handling, reconnection and stock-conflict behaviour on the exact devices and plan they intend to use.
How much does Shopify POS cost in India?
Shopify India displays base plans at ₹1,994, ₹7,447 and ₹30,164 per month, while POS Pro is listed as an additional ₹7,000 per location per month. Hardware, apps, payment-provider charges, taxes and other operating costs may increase the total.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: There is no universal winner. GoFrugal is the strongest starting point for deep Indian retail operations, Zoho POS for transparent cloud value, TallyPrime for accounting-led businesses, Shopify POS for Shopify-based omnichannel brands, and Vyapar or myBillBook for basic small-shop billing. Compare the complete three-year cost and test offline sales before signing.
