The cheapest NFT marketplace is not always the one with the lowest advertised percentage. Your real cost can include a marketplace fee, creator royalty, blockchain gas, community fee, and—on some platforms—a one-time token approval.
For a simple sale, Magic Eden’s 2% transaction fee is competitive, while OpenSea’s documented marketplace-fee example is 2.5%. Rarible can be inexpensive for a marketplace created with its Marketplace editor, but aggregated listings may carry fees from 0.5% to 7.5% and can retain the original marketplace’s charges.
The ranking below focuses on marketplaces and fee models that can reduce the seller’s or buyer’s total cost. Fees change frequently, so check the final transaction preview before signing.
How NFT marketplace fees work
Before comparing platforms, separate these charges:

| Fee type | Who receives it | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Marketplace fee | The marketplace or protocol | Usually when an NFT sells |
| Creator royalty | The NFT creator or collection | When the buyer honors it or the collection enforces it |
| Gas fee | Blockchain validators | When an on-chain transaction is submitted |
| Community fee | The owner of a community marketplace | When buying or selling through that community marketplace |
| Listing or approval cost | Usually the blockchain network | When creating a listing or approving a token such as WETH |
A marketplace can advertise a 0% listing fee while still charging a sale fee. Likewise, a 0% marketplace fee does not mean a transaction is free: gas and royalties may still apply.
Top 10 NFT marketplaces with low transaction fees
1. Magic Eden
Marketplace transaction fee: 2%. Listing fee: 0%.
Magic Eden is one of the clearest low-fee choices for Solana NFTs. Its current help-center information states that it charges no listing fee and a 2% marketplace transaction fee on transactions.
Creator royalties are separate. Buyers may choose whether to honor royalties embedded in creator metadata unless the collection enforces them. Open the NFT’s item detail page to see the royalty amount before buying.
Best for: Solana traders who want a straightforward 2% marketplace charge.
Watch for: the 2% transaction fee is not the complete cost if a royalty or Solana network fee applies.
2. OpenSea
Marketplace fee: 2.5% in OpenSea’s current fee example.
OpenSea remains useful for multi-chain collections, but its fee structure is more complicated than the simple headline percentage suggests. OpenSea’s developer documentation uses 250 basis points—2.5%—for the marketplace fee. Collection-level fees can differ, so applications and advanced users should retrieve the collection’s current fee data before creating an order:

Inspect the fees field. Each fee object can include fee, recipient, and required. The fee value is expressed in basis points, so 250 means 2.5%.
Gas is a separate expense. OpenSea says gas can be required for buying, transferring, minting, accepting an offer, canceling a listing, and raising an existing listing price. A failed transaction can still consume non-refundable gas.
Best for: buyers and sellers who need broad chain and collection coverage.
Watch for: cancellation gas, first-time WETH approval gas, creator fees, and collection-specific fee changes.

Community-marketplace owners can set their own community transaction fees. Rarible says it does not control those charges and that 100% of the community fee goes to the wallet configured by the project or marketplace owner.
Best for: creators and projects running their own community marketplace.
Watch for: the project-defined fee, royalty, network gas, and the difference between a community marketplace and a standard Rarible listing.

Published aggregated-listing range: 0.5% to 7.5%, depending on the listing price.
Rarible’s aggregator can show NFTs originally listed on other marketplaces. Its published information says the fee uses a sliding structure: lower-priced NFTs can have a higher percentage fee, while higher-priced NFTs can have a lower fee. Promotional periods may temporarily reduce the aggregated-listing fee to 0%.
The important limitation is that an aggregated listing does not necessarily remove the original marketplace’s fee. Listings sourced from OpenSea, LooksRare, X2Y2, Immutable X, and Rarible Protocol community marketplaces may remain subject to the source marketplace’s terms.
Best for: buyers comparing several marketplaces from one interface.

5. Blur
Fee model: typically positioned as a low-fee trading platform, but confirm the current marketplace and royalty terms at checkout.
Blur is designed for active Ethereum NFT traders and emphasizes fast trading, collection bids, and portfolio tools. Its final cost depends on the collection, creator-royalty setting, and the transaction being performed.
Ethereum gas can dominate the percentage fee on low-value NFTs. A nominally cheap marketplace may therefore cost more than a higher-fee platform on a small purchase if the transaction requires an expensive Ethereum confirmation.
Best for: experienced Ethereum traders making several trades and comparing bids.

- Enhanced Backup Solution: Multi-share Backup eliminates single points of failure for secure cold wallet recovery
Watch for: royalty settings, approval transactions, and gas. Do not compare Blur’s marketplace percentage alone with a Solana marketplace’s total cost.
6. LooksRare
Fee model: commonly used as a lower-fee alternative to traditional Ethereum marketplaces; verify the current collection and order fee before signing.
LooksRare targets Ethereum NFT traders and supports marketplace activity, offers, and collection-based trading. The final amount can include a marketplace fee, creator royalty, and Ethereum gas.
It is most attractive when the NFT’s value is high enough that gas is a small part of the transaction. For a low-priced NFT, a single approval or purchase transaction can outweigh a difference of one percentage point in marketplace fees.
Best for: Ethereum users comparing established alternatives to OpenSea.
Watch for: current order-specific fees and whether the collection requires a royalty.
7. Tensor
Fee model: low-fee Solana trading model; confirm the current fee on the collection or transaction screen.
Tensor is built for Solana NFT trading and is aimed at users who want marketplace tools, collection bids, and active trading features. Solana’s network fees are generally much smaller than Ethereum gas, so the marketplace percentage often has a greater effect on the final amount than the blockchain charge.
Compare the displayed sale proceeds rather than relying on a platform-wide headline. Royalties and collection-specific rules can change the result.
Best for: Solana traders who want an active trading interface.
Watch for: collection royalties, current marketplace terms, and wallet prompts for multiple transactions.

OKX provides NFT listings and aggregation across supported ecosystems. Aggregation can make price comparison easier, but it does not automatically eliminate the source marketplace’s fee or creator royalty.
Check whether the displayed price includes all marketplace charges and whether the purchase is executed directly through the original marketplace contract or through an aggregator route.
Best for: users already managing assets through the OKX ecosystem and comparing cross-market listings.

Watch for: source-marketplace fees, network selection, and wallet or exchange withdrawal costs, which are separate from the NFT marketplace fee.
9. Immutable Marketplace
Fee model: generally aimed at lower-cost trading on Immutable-supported networks; confirm the current collection fee before purchase.
Immutable’s ecosystem is associated with gaming NFTs and supports transactions designed to reduce the cost and friction of trading digital game items. The fee can vary by marketplace, collection, and the specific Immutable network being used.
Even when the network transaction is inexpensive, creator royalties and marketplace charges can still apply. The important comparison is the amount charged at confirmation, not simply whether the marketplace advertises low gas.

Best for: gaming-NFT buyers and sellers using Immutable-supported collections.
Watch for: network compatibility, collection royalties, and whether the NFT is being traded on an official or third-party marketplace.
10. Zora
Fee model: varies by product, mint type, network, and transaction route.
Zora is primarily associated with creator publishing and on-chain minting rather than being a single uniform resale marketplace. Some Zora actions use protocol or mint fees, while the blockchain still charges its own transaction cost.
It can be economical for creators when using a low-cost supported network, but “free mint” or low-cost publishing does not mean every secondary sale is free. Read the mint page and wallet confirmation separately.

Suppose you sell an NFT for $500 on a marketplace charging 2% and the creator royalty is 5%:
Recommended Free Tools
- Marketplace fee:
$500 × 0.02 = $10 - Creator royalty:
$500 × 0.05 = $25 - Amount before gas:
$500 − $10 − $25 = $465 - Subtract the blockchain gas fee separately.
If the same sale used a 2.5% marketplace fee, the marketplace charge would be $12.50, leaving $462.50 before gas and any other charge. On a high-value NFT, the difference is noticeable; on a cheap NFT, gas can be the larger expense.
How to check fees before signing
- Open the item or collection page. Look for marketplace fees, creator royalties, and any service or community fee.
- Check the network. ETH, SOL, MATIC, and other native assets cannot be substituted for one another. Funds on the wrong network will not pay the transaction.
- Review the wallet prompt. Look for the amount being spent, the contract interaction, and whether the wallet is asking for a token approval.
- Check the proceeds or total-cost preview. Sellers should compare the amount they will receive; buyers should compare the final amount they will pay.
- Keep extra native tokens available. A wallet holding only the NFT or purchase currency may still fail if it has no ETH, SOL, or other network gas token.
- Do not retry blindly. A failed blockchain transaction may still consume gas. First inspect the transaction status and error.
Common fee mistakes
- Confusing 0% listing fees with 0% selling fees. Magic Eden documents 0% listing fees but a 2% transaction fee.
- Assuming Rarible is always 0%. The 0% claim applies to marketplaces created with Rarible’s Marketplace editor, not every Rarible transaction.
- Ignoring aggregator fees. A Rarible aggregated listing can carry a 0.5%–7.5% fee and may also retain the original marketplace’s charge.
- Forgetting first-time approvals. An offer using WETH may require a one-time approval transaction before the offer itself.
- Assuming cancellation is free. OpenSea states that canceling a listing incurs gas. Reducing an ERC-721 listing price can be gas-free, but that does not apply to ERC-1155 price reductions.
- Trusting a buyer’s screenshot. A stranger claiming that a sale failed and asking you to send funds is a common scam pattern. Legitimate marketplaces do not ask sellers to pay money through social-media messages to resolve a sale.
FAQ
Which NFT marketplace has the lowest transaction fee?
There is no single lowest-cost marketplace for every NFT and network. Magic Eden documents a 2% transaction fee, while OpenSea’s current fee example is 2.5%. Rarible Marketplace editor marketplaces charge 0% service fees, but community owners can set fees and aggregated listings use a separate 0.5%–7.5% structure.
Is Magic Eden really free to list NFTs?
Magic Eden documents a 0% listing fee. A successful sale still has its 2% marketplace transaction fee, and royalties or blockchain network fees may also apply.
Does OpenSea charge a transaction fee?
Yes. OpenSea’s developer documentation gives a current marketplace-fee example of 2.5%, represented as 250 basis points. Collection-level fees may differ, so check the collection’s current fee data before creating an order.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteAre NFT royalties the same as marketplace fees?
No. A marketplace fee goes to the marketplace or protocol. A creator royalty goes to the NFT creator or collection. Royalties may be optional or enforced depending on the collection and marketplace rules.
Can an NFT transaction fail and still cost money?
Yes. Blockchain gas is paid to validators, not the marketplace, and a failed transaction can still consume non-refundable gas. Make sure the wallet has enough of the network’s native token on the correct network.
What is the cheapest blockchain for NFT trading?
Low-cost networks such as Solana and some Layer 2 networks often have lower transaction costs than Ethereum, but the total depends on marketplace fees, royalties, approvals, congestion, and the specific transaction.
The Bottom Line
For a transparent low-fee sale, start by comparing Magic Eden’s documented 2% transaction fee with OpenSea’s 2.5% example. Choose a Rarible community marketplace only after checking the project’s configured community fee, and treat aggregated listings as a separate fee calculation.
