Choosing an NFT marketplace is less about finding the biggest name and more about matching the platform to the blockchain, payment method, wallet, and type of collectible you want. A beginner buying a Solana NFT has a very different shortlist from an NBA fan buying a licensed Moment or an art collector looking for a one-of-one Ethereum piece.
This list ranks marketplaces by onboarding difficulty, payment options, fee clarity, selection, wallet requirements, and the likelihood of an irreversible beginner mistake. It is not a ranking by trading volume.
Important date note: the platform details used here were checked on August 7, 2026. Because several services changed after 2025, this guide flags those changes instead of presenting current features as though they were available throughout 2025.

1. OpenSea
Best for: beginners who want the widest selection across several blockchains.

OpenSea is the most practical starting point when you are still deciding what kind of NFT you want to buy. It supports a long list of EVM networks, including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Base, Zora, and others. However, OpenSea’s current blockchain guide does not support purchasing Solana NFTs, even though Solana token swaps may appear elsewhere in its interface.
You can connect MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, or Robinhood Wallet. The mobile app also supports Continue with email, which creates linked self-custodial EVM and Solana wallets. Those generated wallets are permanently tied to that email login, so choose the email carefully.
For a fixed-price NFT, open the item page, select Buy now, review the Checkout panel, and approve the transaction in your wallet. Eligible listings may offer Buy now → Debit/Credit card → Purchase with card through MoonPay. MoonPay’s processing fee and blockchain gas are separate costs.

OpenSea also supports some cross-chain purchases. During checkout, select Token → Change, choose an eligible token, and click Save. This does not work for every listing; Blur listings can produce an insufficient-balance error when funds are held on another chain.
Watch out: check the blockchain, wallet network, recipient, price, and gas before signing. Transactions cannot normally be reversed. OpenSea also does not support multisignature wallets.
2. NBA Top Shot
Best for: sports fans who want licensed digital collectibles without learning a general-purpose crypto wallet.
NBA Top Shot sells licensed basketball “Moments.” You can buy packs or purchase a specific Moment from another collector in the Marketplace. Buying an individual Moment is easier to understand because you know exactly which player, play, and serial-numbered collectible you are receiving. A pack only reveals possible scarcity categories and applicable probabilities, not its exact contents.

Marketplace sales charge a 5% seller fee; there is no fee to list or delist a Moment. For example, a $10 completed sale leaves the seller $9.50 before other applicable considerations.
The main beginner mistake is treating a pack like a guaranteed purchase of a particular player or rarity. Another is assuming a previous sale price predicts future value. Top Shot’s terms state that Moment values are subjective and that value retention is not guaranteed.
3. Rarible
Best for: users who want a multichain marketplace with both native Rarible listings and aggregated inventory.
Rarible supports numerous networks, including Ethereum, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum, Immutable X, RARI Chain, Aptos, Celo, and others. That breadth is useful, but it also makes network confusion more likely. The NFT, wallet, and payment token must all be compatible with the same chain unless the checkout explicitly supports a cross-chain route.

To buy, connect a wallet, hover over Explore, choose Collections or NFTs, open an item, and select Buy now. Click Continue in the checkout window, then approve one or more transactions in the wallet. Purchased NFTs appear under your profile’s Owned section.
Rarible’s current published service-fee schedule is regressive and applies separately to buyer and seller sides where applicable:

Because Rarible aggregates some inventory, verify the collection address and creator before buying. A verification badge can help identify an official collection, but it does not guarantee value, copyright ownership, liquidity, or a refund.
4. Foundation
Best for: collectors interested in curated digital art, editions, and creator-led drops.

It currently supports Ethereum Mainnet and Base, so switch the wallet to the network shown by the listing before purchasing.
For a fixed-price item, open the NFT page and select Buy Now. For an offer, select Make Offer, enter the amount, and confirm in the wallet. Editions use an Edition page → Mint flow.
Foundation charges a 5% marketplace fee on primary and secondary sales using Buy Now, Offers, or Auctions. Drops and Editions charge 0.0008 ETH per mint. Ethereum or Base gas is additional and goes to the network rather than Foundation.
Offers have an unusual edge case: they cannot be canceled. They expire after 24 hours if not accepted, and returned funds go to your Marketplace Balance. To move that balance back, use Profile dropdown → Marketplace Balance → Convert.
5. Objkt
Best for: beginners who want digital art on Tezos, where transaction costs are often easier to manage than on Ethereum.
Objkt operates on Tezos and uses tez, or XTZ. Its integrated onboarding lets you select Log in and sign up with Google or X/Twitter. Objkt then creates a profile and wallet through its integrated flow.
To fund the account, open the avatar menu, choose Top up, complete any requested verification, and purchase XTZ using supported methods such as a card or Google Pay. The NFT itself is purchased with XTZ, not directly with a credit card.

Open an artwork page, click Buy on a fixed-price listing, and approve the transaction. The artwork appears at Avatar → Profile → Owned. If an item is not listed, you must make an offer or contact the owner.
Objkt charges a 5% marketplace fee on successful sales through its own smart contracts. The seller pays this fee in addition to creator royalties. Metadata is permanent after minting, so creators should check titles, files, descriptions, and attributes before minting.
6. SuperRare
Best for: collectors looking for high-end, single-edition digital art.
SuperRare identifies accounts through an Ethereum wallet rather than a normal email-and-password login. It supports Buy Now purchases, Offers, and Auctions. Traditional SuperRare artwork is generally single-edition and can only be minted by whitelisted artists, which gives the platform a more curated feel than an open minting site.
Buy Now purchases carry a 3% buyer marketplace fee on top of the sale price. Review the exact auction checkout because the fee may not be displayed in the same way.

Some eligible USDC Bazaar listings support card payment. On the artwork page, select the purchase flow, choose Credit card under Payment method, review the price plus the 3% fee, and continue through Coinflow. Card checkout is limited to eligible listings priced from $10.50 to $4,999.99 USDC. It does not cover ETH or RARE listings, legacy V1 tokens, minting, or purchases of $5,000 or more.
7. Nifty Gateway Studio
Best for: users who prefer card payments, branded drops, and custodial account management.
Nifty Gateway Studio is no longer best described as a broad, open NFT marketplace in the way older guides described Nifty Gateway. It has moved toward a digital production and studio model, while still documenting custodial purchases and wallet-to-wallet transactions.
For native items bought with a card or account balance, the NFT remains in NGS’s custodial omnibus wallet. Ownership is transferred internally rather than necessarily moving on-chain at the moment of purchase. This removes much of the wallet and gas complexity, but it also means the asset is not immediately held in your personal wallet.

Gas may apply to wallet-to-wallet purchases and listings, deposits, withdrawals, and some primary-market ETH purchases through MetaMask.
A failed drawing or auction can leave a temporary card authorization. NGS says unsuccessful authorizations may take two to three days to disappear, depending on the bank. Large drops may take up to 48 hours to appear after minting.

8. Tensor
Best for: Solana NFT beginners who want a straightforward buy screen but may later explore trading tools.
Tensor is built around Solana NFTs. The basic purchase path is simple: open the BUY tab, hover over an NFT, click BUY, and confirm the transaction in a Solana wallet.

Enforced royalties are paid by the taker; where a collection permits optional royalties, the buyer may be able to choose none, half, or full royalties. Solana network fees and any applicable royalties affect the final amount.
Do not confuse the normal Buy control with YOLO Buy. YOLO Buy is a non-refundable fractional bid for a chance to win an NFT, not a conventional purchase. Collection bids, bulk sweeps, and market-making tools also deserve caution until you understand escrow, order limits, and the total amount committed.
9. Magic Eden
Best for: beginners entering the Solana NFT ecosystem.
Magic Eden changed substantially after the period covered by many older buying guides. On March 9, 2026, it ended marketplace support for EVM chains and Bitcoin. Its remaining marketplace surfaces are focused on Solana, including the Solana Marketplace, Solana Packs, and Solana Lucky Buy.

For an ordinary purchase, connect a Solana wallet, open an item page, click Buy Now, and approve the transaction. The Solana marketplace has a 2% transaction fee and no listing fee. Creator royalties may be optional depending on the collection. Where optional royalties are available, use the collection page’s bottom-right settings icon to choose None, Half, or Full.
Lucky Buy is not a normal fixed-price NFT sale; it is a chance-based purchase mechanism. Also note that Magic Eden’s own Wallet and Account Wallets were scheduled for full shutdown on May 1, 2026. Do not leave assets there without checking the migration instructions and exporting keys where required.

Best for: Ethereum users who want an alternative marketplace with trading and rarity tools.
LooksRare remains an Ethereum NFT marketplace with collection pages, Buy Now listings, price ranges, marketplace filters, and rarity filters. The typical flow is connect wallet → choose a collection → open the NFT → Buy Now → approve the transaction and gas.
Its fee mechanics have changed over time, so check the live checkout rather than relying on an old article quoting a fixed percentage. Ethereum gas, royalties, and marketplace charges can all affect the final amount.

LooksRare’s rewards and trading mechanics are not evidence that an NFT has genuine demand. Historical research has raised wash-trading concerns around reward-focused NFT marketplaces, but old percentages should not be treated as a current measurement without fresh data. Beginners should compare actual unique buyers, recent sales, and liquidity instead of buying solely because a collection ranks highly.
Marketplaces that need a warning in older lists
Mintable
Mintable’s homepage says it is sunsetting Mintable and Mintology and moving away from its NFT marketplace operations. Older recommendations describing Mintable as an active beginner marketplace with gasless minting and card purchases should not be copied into a current guide.
Zora
Zora should not automatically be presented as a conventional NFT marketplace. Its current documentation focuses on Trends, Pairs, and tradeable tokens representing cultural topics and individual content, rather than the older marketplace positioning.

How to choose safely
- Identify the blockchain first. Ethereum, Base, Tezos, Flow, and Solana use different wallets, currencies, and transaction systems.
- Calculate the complete checkout total. Include the NFT price, marketplace fee, creator royalty, card-processing charge, and network gas.
- Verify the collection. Compare the marketplace’s collection address with the creator’s official website or verified social account. A badge is not a guarantee that the NFT is financially or legally safe.
- Start with a fixed-price item. Avoid packs, auctions, collection bids, sweeps, YOLO Buy, Lucky Buy, and other chance-based or advanced tools until you understand them.
- Check custody. On a self-custodial marketplace, the asset is held by your wallet. On a custodial service such as NBA Top Shot or native Nifty Gateway Studio purchases, the platform manages the account or wallet relationship.
- Read every wallet prompt. Confirm the network, amount, recipient, and requested permissions. A blockchain transaction is normally final.

Which NFT marketplace is easiest for a complete beginner?
NBA Top Shot is the least wallet-heavy option for basketball fans. For general NFT browsing, OpenSea is the broadest starting point, although its wallet, network, gas, and collection-verification requirements still matter.
Can I buy NFTs with a credit card?
Some platforms support cards, but not every listing does. OpenSea offers MoonPay card checkout for eligible purchases, Objkt uses cards to top up XTZ, SuperRare supports cards for eligible USDC Bazaar listings, and Nifty Gateway Studio supports cards for certain custodial purchases.
Are NFTs stored in my crypto wallet?
Not always. Self-custodial marketplaces transfer NFTs to your wallet. NBA Top Shot and native Nifty Gateway Studio purchases use platform-managed systems, so ownership may remain inside the platform’s application or custodial wallet.
Is a verified NFT collection safe to buy?
No. Verification can help identify an official collection, but it does not guarantee value, liquidity, copyright ownership, smart-contract safety, or a refund.

Which marketplace is best for Solana NFTs?
Tensor and Magic Eden are the strongest Solana-focused choices in this list. Check the current product scope before using an older guide: Magic Eden ended its EVM and Bitcoin marketplace support in March 2026.
Do NFT marketplaces charge royalties?
Royalties vary. Some are enforced, some are optional, and some marketplaces or collections do not guarantee them across every platform. Check the final checkout and the collection’s royalty settings before buying.
