Tom the Postgirl is officially listed for Nintendo Switch as a digital single-player game scheduled for October 29, 2026. Nintendo confirms TV, tabletop, and handheld modes plus touch-screen support, but its product page does not publish a button diagram or detailed control map.
Performance is similarly unconfirmed. No official Switch frame-rate target, resolution, loading-time result, or handheld-versus-TV comparison has been published. Nintendo says the game is supported on Switch 2 with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch, which confirms compatibility rather than an enhancement.
Release status, edition, and basic specifications
Nintendo’s Canadian store lists Tom the Postgirl for release on October 29, 2026. That date was still in the future when the listing was checked on October 13, 2026, so it should be rechecked close to launch in case Nintendo or the publisher changes the schedule.
The Switch listing identifies the game as a digital edition. The available information does not establish a physical cartridge release, a boxed edition, or a separate deluxe version. Existing Switch owners therefore need only the digital purchase and enough available storage; a special controller or other accessory has not been identified as a requirement.

Nintendo notes that software compatibility and play experience can differ on Nintendo Switch Lite and that additional accessories may be required, sold separately. That is a general platform notice rather than evidence that this game needs a particular accessory.
What kind of game is it?
Tom the Postgirl is presented as a single-player adventure about a new village postgirl whose delivery route becomes an excuse to pry into residents’ private lives. The official descriptions combine routine package deliveries with intrusive exploration: Tom can inspect homes, open packages, spy on villagers, and damage gardens. The result is a darkly comic premise in which the ordinary job is only the surface of the game’s interactions.
The visual style is hand-drawn and black-and-white. Replay value comes from noticing details and discovering additional information on later playthroughs rather than from a competitive mode or online progression. The Steam description names Oopsie Daisies and ARTE France as developers and ARTE France as publisher. Nintendo’s Canadian Switch listing names ARTE Experience as the publisher for that store release, so those credits should be kept tied to their respective platform listings.

Touch-screen support is official
Nintendo explicitly lists touch-screen support. In handheld mode, that means the built-in Switch display can accept touch input somewhere in the game, but the store page does not say whether touch is used for movement, selecting objects, navigating menus, reading text, or only for particular interactions. Do not assume that every action can be performed by touch.

- 6.2” LCD screen
- Three play modes: TV, tabletop, and handheld
- Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer
- Detachable Joy-Con controllers
- Nintendo Switch is the home of Mario & friends
There is no published button map yet
Nintendo’s product page does not include a control diagram or button-by-button mapping. Consequently, there is no reliable official basis for stating which Joy-Con or Pro Controller button moves Tom, interacts with a package, opens a menu, pauses the game, or activates a tool. Those details should come from a later Switch-specific manual, update note, or hands-on test.
The Steam listing advertises full controller support and several accessibility options, including adjustable text size, subtitle controls, color alternatives, camera-comfort settings, contrast controls, custom volume controls, and an option to play without quick-time events. These are details for the Windows and macOS version. They do not establish that the Switch edition has the same menu labels, controller layout, or accessibility feature set.
How to prepare without guessing the layout
- Start in handheld mode if you want to try touch input. The Switch listing confirms touch support, and handheld mode is the only mode with the console’s integrated touch display.
- Keep a standard controller available. TV and tabletop play require a compatible input device, but the listing does not specify whether every controller configuration is supported. Use the controller recognized by your console and check the in-game settings once the software is installed.
- Look for a Controls, Settings, or Accessibility screen before beginning a long session. A launch build may provide the mapping that is absent from the store page. Record any remapping options there rather than relying on the Steam layout.
- Test basic actions in a safe area. Confirm movement, interaction, camera behavior, pause, and text advancement before attempting a delivery or exploring a villager’s home. This avoids treating an assumed PC or Steam Deck layout as a Switch fact.
Switch performance: what is and is not known
No Switch-specific source in the available evidence states a frame-rate target, display resolution, loading-time result, texture setting, battery estimate, or performance difference between handheld and TV output. Claims such as “locked 30 frames per second,” “60 frames per second,” “4K,” or “smooth in handheld” would therefore be unsupported until a Switch build is measured or an official specification is published.

The Steam minimum requirements cannot predict how the Switch version performs. Windows and macOS requirements describe those operating systems, their graphics APIs, and their hardware expectations; they are not a translation of Nintendo’s fixed console configuration. A PC that meets the minimum specification does not prove anything about Switch frame rate, and a Switch result cannot be inferred from the PC listing.

- This model includes battery life of approximately 4.5 - 9 hours.
- The battery life will depend on the games you play. For instance, the battery will last approximately 5.5 hours for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (games sold separately)
- Model number HAC 001( 01)
What to measure after launch
If you are deciding between handheld and TV play, the useful evidence will be practical rather than promotional. Look for a clearly described test that reports:
- Frame-rate behavior during normal deliveries, crowded village scenes, and exploration.
- Whether the frame rate is stable or shows visible drops during camera movement or effects.
- Image clarity in handheld and docked output, including text legibility and black-and-white line detail.
- Loading duration when starting the game, entering homes, returning to the village, and loading a saved route.
- Input response with touch, Joy-Con, and a conventional controller.
- Battery impact in handheld mode, if the tester identifies the Switch model and test conditions.
Until that evidence exists, the responsible expectation is simply that the game is a Switch release supporting all three listed play modes, not that it has a particular performance profile.
What Switch 2 compatibility means
Nintendo marks the game as “Supported” on Switch 2 and states: “Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch.” This confirms that the Switch software is expected to run on the newer console, but it does not promise a higher resolution, faster frame rate, shorter loading, improved image quality, or a Switch 2-specific graphics mode.
For a Switch 2 owner, treat the game as the Switch version unless Nintendo later publishes an enhancement notice. A compatibility label is useful for deciding whether the software should launch and behave as intended; it is not a benchmark or an upgrade guarantee.

- This pre-owned product is not Apple certified, but has been professionally inspected, tested and cleaned by Amazon-qualified suppliers.
- 6.2” LCD screen.
- Three play modes: TV, tabletop, and handheld
- Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer
- Detachable Joy-Con controllers
Storage and installation planning
Nintendo estimates the download at 639 MB. That figure is a store estimate supplied in 2026, not a measured final download after patches, language data, or other updates. Leave more free space than the estimate if possible so the console can download and install launch updates without requiring an immediate deletion.
- Open System Settings from the HOME menu.
- Select Data Management to view available space in system memory and on the microSD card.
- Before purchasing, make sure the destination storage has room for at least the listed 639 MB plus update headroom.
- After installation, check Manage Software if you need to confirm the installed size or archive another title.
The game is listed as digital, so download access depends on the Nintendo account and console used for purchase. A cartridge-based installation path has not been established in the available listing.
Modes, display choices, and player expectations
Handheld mode
Handheld mode combines the game’s portable format with the Switch touch screen. It is the natural mode to try first if you want to find out how touch interactions work. The listing does not state a handheld resolution, frame rate, battery duration, or whether every menu is optimized for touch.

Tabletop mode
Tabletop mode places the console’s screen on a stand while you use detached controls. Because the built-in display is still present but the system is no longer being held, the practical experience may differ from handheld play. Nintendo confirms the mode, but gives no game-specific control or performance details.
Best Value
- One player can use a Joy-Con in each hand
- Two players can each take one
- Multiple Joy-Con can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options (additional Joy-Con sold separately)
- Slip a set of Joy-Con into a Joy-Con grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
TV mode
TV mode sends the game to an external display. The listing does not establish the output resolution, frame-rate target, loading behavior, or whether the image receives any enhancement when docked. Choose TV mode for a larger screen, not on the assumption that it is technically superior.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Languages, content descriptors, and accessibility caution
Nintendo lists the following languages for the Switch release: Japanese, British English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Latin American Spanish, Canadian French, Brazilian Portuguese, American English, and Polish. The listing does not explain whether each language applies to menus, subtitles, spoken audio, or all text, so check the in-game language menu or the final regional store page for that distinction.
Nintendo Canada gives the rating descriptors Mild Violence, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol. Ratings and descriptors can differ by territory. If the game is being purchased outside Canada, consult the local Nintendo store entry rather than assuming the Canadian descriptors are identical.
The Steam page’s accessibility information is useful as an indication of features considered for the broader release, but it is not a Switch specification. Do not assume that adjustable text size, color alternatives, camera comfort, contrast controls, custom volume controls, subtitles, or the no-quick-time-event option are present on Switch until the Switch menus or documentation confirm them.
Launch-day checklist for a Switch buyer
- Verify the date and edition. Confirm that the Nintendo store still shows October 29, 2026 and that you are selecting the digital Switch edition for your region.
- Check the regional rating. Review your local descriptors, especially if the game is for a younger player or a shared household console.
- Check available storage. Use Data Management and allow room beyond the 639 MB estimate for updates.
- Install the latest software update. A launch patch may change stability, menus, language support, or input behavior.
- Open the control and accessibility menus. Confirm the actual button mapping and available text, color, camera, subtitle, and audio options in the Switch build.
- Try both touch and physical input. Note which actions accept touch and whether controller play feels more precise for exploration or package handling.
- Compare handheld and TV play for your own setup. Check text readability, loading pauses, image clarity, and any visible stutter rather than relying on an assumed frame-rate number.
- On Switch 2, treat the result as compatibility first. Look for a separate enhancement note before expecting technical improvements over the original Switch behavior.
Who should be interested?
The game is a fit for players who enjoy compact, story-led adventures built around observation, curiosity, and morally questionable exploration. Its central hook is not competitive multiplayer or a hardware showcase; it is the tension between delivering mail and uncovering what villagers are hiding. The hand-drawn monochrome presentation and repeat-play discovery structure will appeal to readers who like examining environments for small details.
It may be a poor match if you need confirmed performance targets before buying, require a published button map, want local multiplayer, or rely on a specific accessibility option from the Steam listing. Those decisions should wait for Switch-specific documentation or a hands-on assessment, because the current Nintendo page does not answer them.
What remains unanswered
Several practical questions cannot be answered responsibly from the current official information: the exact Joy-Con and Pro Controller mapping; whether touch is optional or required for any interaction; Switch resolution and frame rate; loading times; battery use; the size of launch updates; and parity between Steam and Switch accessibility menus. These are not hidden specifications that can be inferred from the store page. They require a Switch build, a platform-specific manual, or a clearly documented test.
