Titanium Court, the indie game from AP Thomson and publisher Fellow Traveller, leaves its Windows-PC debut for a simultaneous console and mobile launch on October 29, 2026. It will be available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Android and iPhone. The game first launched through Steam on April 23, 2026.
Its unusual blend of match-three puzzles, tower-defense planning and roguelike progression—and two major Independent Games Festival wins—explains why it became one of the year’s most discussed independent releases. Calling it the “best” game of the year is subjective, but Titanium Court has a stronger awards-backed case than a typical Steam breakout.
What is Titanium Court?
Titanium Court is designed as a hybrid rather than a conventional entry in one genre. Nintendo’s official store description calls it “A magical genre-bending romp that defies all description, including this one.” The same listing identifies its core format as a match-3 tower-defense roguelike.

Why it became a 2026 indie standout
Two major IGF awards
At the 28th Independent Games Festival awards in March 2026, Titanium Court won both the Seumas McNally Grand Prize and Excellence in Design. The Seumas McNally award is the festival’s principal overall category; the 2026 IGF rules set its prize at $10,000.
Winning both the top prize and a design award points to two different strengths: broad recognition from the festival jury and specific acknowledgment of the game’s systems. That is the clearest evidence behind its reputation as a standout, rather than relying only on launch-week enthusiasm.

Reported critical score
Contemporary coverage reported an aggregate score of 85 on Metacritic in 2026 after the PC release. That figure should be read as a reported score, not as an independently checked Metacritic page.

The October date is shared across the announced non-PC versions. Nintendo’s listing confirms the Switch release, Switch 2 compatibility, one-player format, supported display modes and 526 MB estimated file size; release announcements identify the same date for PS5, Android and iPhone.

How the genre mix fits together
Match-three decisions
The match-three layer supplies the immediate, turn-by-turn puzzle decisions. Matching pieces is not presented as a separate minigame; it is part of the system that determines what you can do during a run.
Tower-defense planning
Tower-defense structure adds a positional and longer-term problem. You are not only looking for a high-scoring match—you are deciding how puzzle outcomes support defenses and respond to threats.

Roguelike replayability
Roguelike progression makes failure part of the intended loop. Runs can be replayed with different decisions, letting the player refine a strategy instead of simply repeating a fixed campaign. The combination is why the game is difficult to summarize with a single genre label.

Which version makes sense for you?
Choose Switch or Switch 2 for flexible play
The Switch edition is the most clearly documented option for players who want to move between television, tabletop and handheld play. Switch 2 owners can use the officially listed compatible version, while the 526 MB estimate makes the download relatively modest for a modern console release.

Choose PS5 for a dedicated home-console setup
PS5 is the announced home-console alternative for players who do not use Nintendo hardware. The release date is confirmed as October 29, 2026, but the available announcement does not establish additional PS5-specific display modes or storage figures.
Choose Android or iPhone for mobile access
The mobile versions launch on the same day, October 29. They are the natural fit if short, repeatable runs matter more than playing on a television or larger handheld screen. The available announcement does not specify mobile pricing, controller support or cross-save behavior.
Stay on Steam if you already play on PC
Steam remains the original platform, with the game’s debut dated April 23, 2026. The console and mobile announcements establish platform availability and timing, but do not confirm cross-progression, cross-buy or parity details between editions.
What the announcement does—and does not—confirm
- Confirmed: AP Thomson is the developer and Fellow Traveller is the publisher.
- Confirmed: Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Android and iPhone versions arrive October 29, 2026.

Why the “Steam-exclusive” label needs qualification
Titanium Court was Steam-exclusive at its April PC launch in the ordinary sense that it began as a Windows game sold through Steam. It is no longer exclusive once the October 29 release arrives. A more accurate description is “a Steam-launched indie standout coming to consoles and mobile.”
Bottom line for prospective players
Titanium Court is worth watching if you want a game that combines match-three tactics with tower-defense decisions and roguelike replayability instead of committing to one familiar genre. Its double IGF win gives the project unusually strong design credentials, while the October 29 launch makes it accessible beyond PC. Switch and Switch 2 offer the most flexibility, PS5 provides a dedicated console route, and Android or iPhone suit players who prefer mobile sessions.
